  1. I’m trying to figure out why you threw 2013 out there. All I’m saying is that their last good year was 2014 and they knew it would be a good year based on everyone they brought back. So if they knew 2014 would be a good year then it would make more sense to leave after 2014 rather than 2013.
  2. Nah. They tied for third in 2014. After that, they consistently bottomed out.
  3. Week 4 Predictions Columbus East (0-3) at Jennings County (0-3): As bad as East has been, the Panthers are just on another level of bad right now. Can the Olympians build off a win tonight? It’s possible but I’m not sure it’s probable. East with the W. Daviess County (KY) (2-1) at Floyd Central (0-3): The Panthers are the first team just outside of the Kentucky 6A top 10 AP poll. The one hour and 45 minute trip northeast to Floyds Knobs should be kind to them as the Highlanders continue to struggle finding the endzone this year. While their homecoming is looking like it’ll be spoiled, you have to think the four weeks of stout competition will make HHC-play easy for Floyd Central. However, it doesn’t look good tonight. Daviess County by a lot. Jeffersonville (1-1) at #7/#8 Mount Vernon (Posey) (3-0): The Red Devils make the 2+ hour drive to the southwest corner of the state to play one of the top teams in 3A. Based on last week’s showing at BNL, I’m not confident they’ll be able to get the job done. Even with having more than three times the student population, Jeff is still Jeff. Maybe they can make it close but I’m still taking the Wildcats. New Albany (1-2) at BNL (1-2): Could this actually be the game that decides the conference championship? Based on the transitive property of inequality, BNL is better than Jeffersonville who is better than Seymour who is better than Columbus East. New Albany has a separate data set, though, because we know they’re better than Jennings County but neither team has played anybody else within the conference. We still don’t know where Floyd Central fits into this and we technically don’t know where exactly New Albany fits. Nevertheless, on paper, this looks to be a key matchup in determining the HHC championship. Before this week, the Bulldogs would’ve been my pick here. However, the Stars showed tremendous growth last week as they familiarize themselves to a new coach and system. I’m breaking away from the consensus here because I’m not sure I trust the New Albany defense to make enough key stops. BNL is my pick.
  4. I saw this and had a good laugh because you know it happens on this site
  5. Again, they weren’t playing HHC teams. Things will only go up from there.
  6. You guys haven’t even played a conference game yet so you don’t even know where you stand within the HHC. Patience, young grasshopper.
  7. Yeah aside from this site, I saw a tweet by Floyd Central’s AD saying the team was looking for a replacement opponent. That’s it though. Seymour’s beat writer out of the Tribune hasn’t tweeted anything about it.
  8. If Seymour wasn’t afraid of playing East, I’m sure they’re not afraid of playing Floyd Central. If anything, they’d want to play them to try and keep the momentum going. There’s not a conspiracy here.
  9. Based on what I can tell, the only other Indiana teams available are 5A #8/#9 Fort Wayne Snider, 4A Northview, 2A Wheeler, and 1A #5 Winamac. Snider was supposed to play Fort Wayne South Side at home. Northview was supposed to play West Vigo at home. Wheeler was supposed to play at South Central (Union Mills). And Winamac was supposed to play at LaVille. Floyd Central is kind of backed into a corner being on the Ohio River and wanting to play a home game since this is their homecoming week. I highly doubt Winamac or Wheeler are going to want to make the LONG drive down from northwest Indiana. Snider would probably prefer to play at home but I doubt they’d want to make the LONG drive down from northeast Indiana. That just leaves Northview. Would they be ok giving up a home game? If so, would they be ok making the 2 hour and 45 minute drive southeast. I doubt it. Unless some school in southwest Ohio is fine making the 2+ hour drive, I’d say a Kentucky school is Floyd Central’s best bet for a game this week. Hopefully it works out.
  10. The season will be half over by the time you guys finally play a conference game 😂
  11. Dang it. All eight teams made it through unscathed last year. What a bummer.
  12. Pick ‘Em Standings (after week 3): @Frozen Tundra 13/16 @Olympian06 13/16 @boilerfan87 10/16 @mamasa 10/16 @Fkfootball 9/16 @LC_Bears_04 9/16
  13. Just throwing out there that Castle doesn’t have the ability to schedule non-conference games because the SIAC expanded to ten teams and they all play each other.
  14. Not due to COVID. It’s been an issue for East long before COVID came around.
  15. Based on the results of conference games thus far, they’ll compete with New Albany for the HHC title. Maybe Floyd Central will compete too once we see how they look against HHC teams.
  16. The problem with us East fans is we’ve been overly spoiled by 17 seasons of tremendous success. I barely remember East football before 2004 because I didn’t have a reason to follow them. My love of high school sports didn’t begin until I was in high school. We went 7-5 my freshman year (2003 season) and then the team took off after that. I’m not going to get on here and bash Coach Vogel though. I know the guy and am aware of how much he contributed to the success of the team behind Coach Gaddis. To be fair to him, this team has the least amount of talent and depth I’ve seen (Again, I didn’t truly start following until 2003). We should’ve seen this downfall coming. I think we did but most of us didn’t want to accept it. On the flip-side, I’m not seeing the same amount of energy or swagger I’m used to seeing from East. I’m with @Olympian06 in that I also believe Gaddis would’ve figured out how to protect the lead last night and pull out a win. Regardless, this team was going to lose an HHC game whether it was last night or sometime down the road this season. The players are the ones that have to execute the game plan and they just seem to lack the talent to do so. My biggest concern about all of this is we have a very fickle fan base. When we aren’t winning, we don’t show up unless it’s the rivalry game against Columbus North. The new home stands that were built before the 2014 season, I’ve slowly seen them become less and less filled since 2018, maybe 2019. A bad East team is really going to hurt attendance. On top of that, there’s not a lot of excitement anyway because the students aren’t allowed to be. Not going to name any names for the reason why but, in my opinion, it’s ridiculous and only hurts us. Nevertheless, I’ll still be at East games when I can. That won’t change. And if we are going to fall off the HHC pedestal, I hope more fans of other HHC teams will join or return to this message board. I like the five of you or so who get on here and interact, but it would be nice to see fans of Seymour, Jennings County, New Albany, and Jeffersonville as well.
  17. Here’s a fun game. The HHC is 0-12 in non-conference games so far. When are we going to get our first win? Will we ever get a win? How many games will we win? Week 4: Jeffersonville (1-1) at Mount Vernon (Posey) (3-0) Week 5: Madison (1-2) at Jennings County (0-3) Week 6: Brownstown Central (3-0) at Seymour (1-2) Week 7: Columbus East (0-3) at Indianapolis Chatard (0-3) Week 8: Madison (1-2) at BNL (1-2) Week 9: Seymour (1-2) at Madison (1-2)
  18. Nah. Picking who finishes last will be pretty easy. It’s definitely Jennings County.
  19. Throw BNL in the mix too. Apparently them and New Albany are the only two teams in the conference that can put up points.
  20. Silver Creek up 19-0 on Floyd Central with ten minutes left
  21. We’re definitely only winning one game this year and that’s next week
