Penns front 7 on D is really tough, even the really good teams had issues with that. And Penn brings a large OL, and a QB who looks like he can catch a D sleeping and make some greats throws. I'm not sure it will be as close as people think. Wish we could get to see this one.

Bremen seems to be really rolling last few weeks, I know you have been hard on them this year but what makes you think they can't handle Riley? Thanks for the breakdown. It will be interesting then to see how they grow. But like many on here, have seen promising teams come through SB, only to be left disappointed. Only the Dieter lead Washington team really made noice when it mattered.

What impressed you about Riley? And from that what makes you think they will be a force next year? It seems there tends to be teams who come and go and start to get some excitement behind them in SB, all for the same old stuff to happen and they end up just as bad as all others. As it looks right now, Riley is only SB team period that even looks like they are playing organized football. Would be nice if the city had at least one team that can actually compete in games.

You are correct most people think of the area versus the actual school corporation. But I ask to you, what if a coaching staff does stick around. I know it’s been 10 plus years now, but when a quality staff stuck together for 4 straight years at Washington they went to a state title game. Then the HC and DC left, with a few other coaches and things dropped off. But what if he stayed? What if what Coach Lee has set in motion, has a chance for them to stay together and build for the next 4 plus years. Why can’t they be a competitive program?

You bring up good points about this current years schedule. They do seem to fair better when facing the schools with similar make up to them. Now when you talk about their chances of success against the teams you mentioned, do you mean strictly this year or chances ever? Because if you look back a short time to the 2016-2019 season Riley went 8-4 against John Glenn, Bremen, and Jimtown. And those games point averages were 28 per game for Riley’s O and 19 they gave up. That sounds like competing, and that’s not 30 years ago. Let’s not let the last 2 years confuse things, even this years John Glenn game when you click on Broadcastsports and watch it that game could’ve went either way. Now defense of your thinking is that their 16-19 success was under Coach Edison, that’s correct. But what outsiders don’t know is, coach Lee brought back the OC from that time as his Assistant HC/OC and his 2 sons and his sophomore son just had the SB Tribune write and article on him. From the outside, but with some inside knowledge I can’t sit here and say they can win against the teams you mentioned to end this year. But what I can say is I would not be surprised if by next year you’re changing your thoughts on the direction of that program and who they can actually compete with.

First question simple answer, they play a SB school. Last few years when they did, typically good things happened. Margin of victory was significant last year, and then they added a winning coach. Now on Riley’s end, the start stop of last Saturday had to be tough to deal with. We will see if they can use this new excitement and compete with a program who beat them bad last year. Jimtown has been a consistent winner, and they will for sure bounce back after that defeat.

You have TurfToe or a concussion? I can buy most of what you have for the East/West Large school division, but the North/South come on. Jimtown I can totally see them winning it again. Glenn has been beating on door last couple years so may bump up to 2. Riley at 3?! Again is it a concussion? They don’t appear to have competed in any game but clay last year. And year before beat Clay, Washington and Gary West. So we’re expected to believe a jump from 2 clay wins, a Washington win and a Gary West win to 3rd in conference? We shall see. Have to put Bremen up at least 1 or 2. And last two ok you got me there.

Yes it is for sure a tough schedule for them. It’s part of why there hasn’t been consistent winning in SB when playing those teams on that side of bracket. Maybe I’m getting caught up in reading newspaper headlines and not seeing the reality of what’s really going on over there. It does appear with a deeper dive it may not be such a rosey start over there as the multiple newspaper stories make you seem. Honeymoon maybe over before the wedding gets started, but we shall see soon enough. Have to compete week one, and win next 3. We can check back going into week 4.

Someone is sounding a little jealous of the paper giving some positive stories on the Eagles. Don’t be mad that they brought in a young, winner to lead the team on the East Side. Maybe this shows what can happen at the other schools if they bring home a winner, and he reaches out and brings back other players who have a history with the program. Now have to agree it’s TBD on what results can be, but if you go off newspaper articles someone thinks it’s going to go well.

Sounds like a lot of excitement over on East Side. He’s brought back ex teammates to help him and it’s looking like the Eagles maybe the team of the city this year and going forward.

You could very likely be correct. Winners figure it out, so if he’s that guy it will all equal out and results will come. I believe they finished 3rd in conference last year, you have to think that’s the floor for them this year.

That’s some rumors coming from that area or I should say things coming from players and families Facebook posts.

Even in a rebuild year, you have to think in conference play only Jimtown should beat you guys at this point. The SB schools are in real struggle mode at this time, and a lot of mixed reviews coming out of Walkerton.

So you gave a quick breakdown on each, but where do you see each side of division finishing this coming year? And other then the new SJ kid, who is some names to know on each side?

Hearing good things coming from the South Side. Word is kids are really excited and numbers are great. Now how that will translate to the field and how soon is anyones guess.

Any possible inside info on that Future? Think any changes after that second half to year?

Call me crazy but I see NIC sweeping this week. And yes that includes the Eagles going to Concord and pulling out upset.

Yes surprised by the NP/Plymouth game. But in fairness it was hard to get a real idea of Plymouth after missing weeks. And you are correct 7, looked really good. Marian should walk to semi state, don’t see anyone before then getting in the way. SJ playing Logansport could get them another win, things have lined up well for them to go on a mini run and possibly end up giving admin a positive outlook on season. Heard a few rumblings from south side of conference. I hear at Riley they can’t wait for Coach Edison to return and right the ship. Had heard preseason they had high hopes for year, and don’t think ending it at Logansport giving up 400 plus rushing was in those thoughts. And out on the county line, don’t think anyone is happy with lack of offense and blowing a share of conference title. Could be moves on at least offense down there. Really a disappointment to not score against a 1-8 team in sectionals. Looking forward to week 2 of playoffs and seeing the conference teams make some runs.

Agree with you on all points. But when looking at the Jimtown from the start of them joining conference and there being a North and South they have been 2nd or 3rd almost every year. Yes there was a Washington year and a Bremen year at top, but after NP and Marian there was always Jimtown lurking. But your correct new staff, new kids so who knows. Look forward to seeing how it plays out.

Let’s slow down on handing out the Trophy for the South one week in. Let’s remember this is a team that still only won 3 games last year, and two of them were to a SB school. The South still runs through Jimtown, and they haven’t even got started yet.

I would agree, to many people the favorites on both sides of conference didnt get to play week 1. Once they get their first games in hopefully there will be more chatter in later weeks.

Yes I think all teams will look better as the season advances into season. Still can’t say many expected that outcome. Was that more being down a couple guys or is Glenn actually going to be decent team this year? I know when I looked for scores Friday night I was surprised by quite a few of them. If College and Pro is like this I’ll hold off on placing bets on games this season. Totally unpredictable.

Seems late notice to cancel at this point, and could be another bad sign of things to come.
