South Side @ St. Joe: Huskies, Huskies, Huskies. Can't be losing to Lakeland if you are trying to get back to your old form. Did hear they were down 21-0 then made a QB change and lose 21-20. Anybody have anymore info? South comes to town looking to avenge a beatdown by the Indians last year. Gotta go with Huskies in this one

Logansport @ Adams: How is Adams this bad year in a year out? They have a huge enrollment and are the "it" school for SB, something just isn't adding up. The Eagles welcome a logansport team that throttled Peru last week. Look for the Berries to go 2-0 to start the year.

Marian @ CMA: Battle of the privates. Could be one of the better games this week. Thought Marian finally was going to pick off Mishawaka; what happened? love to hear the complexion of last weeks game. I'm thinking the Knights pull off a squeaker.

New Prairie @ Goshen: NP started off the year with a nice victory of LP. Outside of the 2 special teams plays NP dominated the entire night. Defense looked tough and the offense showed flashes that it has some athletes. Feeling more comfortable going into this year after seeing week 1. Goshen gotten their B-hinds handed to them by Fairfield. this one has a running clock written all over it.

Northridge @ Elkhart: I keep hearing preseason Elkhart hype only for it to fall short. Concord may have some athletes (they always do) and it was only a 1 point loss but if you want to challenge Penn at the top that's a game you have to win convincingly. The sky isn't falling for the Lions but this is a big one for them, starting 0-2 could really spiral a season. Northridge will bring another competitive team to their neighbors house but I'm thinking Elkhart has the athletes to pull it out.

Penn @ Mishawaka: Gotta love "The Backyard Brawl". Nice opening season win for the Kingsmen as it looked extremely entertaining from an outsiders perspective. Mishawaka finally got things rolling for the Cavemen in the 2nd half. Despite the Cavemen controlling the ball I have to think Penn will just be too much and win by a couple TDs.

Riley @ Wayne: Riley scored on 4 safeties last week; that is ridiculous. Have to imagine Hammond Noll is absolutely horrible if that is happening. No clue what to think of Wayne and also hard to gauge Riley with their schedule. This one seems like a toss up. Riley by a safety?

Agreed - interested to see what Elkhart can put together this week.

I don't trust St. Joe to win close games. I am taking South Side.  24-10

Adams will be the Clay for this season, sorry eagles the Berries give you indigestion.  21-0

I want to believe that Marian is going to build off last season, beating CMA will help their cause.  21-17

NP is the second best team in the NIC, sorry Elkhart you have some explaining to do.  28-3

Elkhart wins in a close game, but does not impress doing so.  10-7

Penn will either shut down Mishawaka or we may have another shoot out on our hands...I am thinking 35-21

Riley wins another game, but will still have doubters...me being one of them.  24-17

Hopefully Elkhart bounces back. If they want to beat decent teams like Concord and Northridge have to stop making so many mistakes.

This seems typical of Elkhart teams. Talent coming out the ears, just too many mistakes to overcome.

South side looks like they have a few athletes on the defensive side of the ball. Can the Huskies offensive line reset the line of scrimmage and finally create some running lanes. Will the huskies have to rely on their bread and butter out routes and comebacks. This one can swing either way. But, so far I'm UN-impressed in the "Downey" Era. ST. Joe 14 South Side 7

At some point the administration has to cut ties with their former QB and his staff. There is plenty of talent walking the halls to field a somewhat competitive team. I don't see them getting to a program status anytime soon. Definitely can pin point it to leadership issues.  Logansport 34 Adams 7

I like Marian in this match-up. The Knights have some size up front on their offensive line. If their D doesn't break late in the game. Knights 24- CMA 17

If Goshen couldn't figure out how to stop the flex with less talent. New Prairie is going to rush for 350 yards. Cougars defense is too strong up front for Goshen to get anything started. The Huskie Alum starts off 0-2 NP 42 Goshen 7.

Mishawaka has 0 chance with their best talent fleeing to Elkhart for the "NEW ERA". Penn's track speed stretches the caveman Defense. PENN 48-14 Mish

I don't know much about New Albany. Thinking the Panthers will out athlete them this week and collect a much needed win for the program. Wash 35- New Albany 7

Riley travels over an hour to Wayne. Unlike, NP above...I'd say the Cats are simmering right now. Can they compete with 6A Penn and Elkhart. We will see these next few weeks. But, for this week they are projected to lose 59-0 by John Harrell. Let's see if the young Cats come out clawing in this matchup. Riley 28- Wayne 12.

Northridge just doesn't seem to have the weapons they have in the past two seasons. I think they keep it close in the first half. Elkhart 28 North Ridge 14

I am somewhat stunned with all of you picking South Side. You do know that South Side has been brutal, and I mean brutal, the last 15 years. Worst team in Fort Wayne, along side Northrop.

Don't lump me in there. I said St. Joe 14 South Side 7.

St. Joe since Downey has come back has been struggling to be competitive. South Side, also sees better teams week in and week out than St. Joe does.

Looks like games on Friday may not get played. I am seeing storms from like 2pm until after kickoff. Looks like we may be looking at Saturday morning kickoffs.

Fingers crossed that does not happen.

Just now, Coach Lou said:

I was hopeful with the transfers from Mishawaka and Goshen, Elkhart would be better this year.

New coaching staff so it might take some time.

This is a good week to get back into the win column. Northridge from what I have heard is not going to be as good as years past. So, strike while the iron is hot.

Good luck to you guys on Friday.

Starting RB and 3 Star DT/OT committed to Miami of Ohio

Crazy to do that just for athletic purposes. Go from a school that you have played at with your friends for a handful of years, great community support, has a legit shot of winning a conference championship and making some post-season noise in a winnable sectional and beyond. But you go to a school with just promises and will have a very difficult time winning a conference championship (with Penn in the way) and then go to a 4 team sectional with Carroll and Snider

That's because your D coordinator killed the program. Him and his 4' little buddy

St. Joe's former coach Bryon Whitten is Penn's D coordinator? Shoot I had no idea.

at least that is how I am taking your post.

South Side @ St. Joe: Even though St. Joe started on the wrong foot last week I still think South Side is to early in their re-build to compete in this game. Same thing happened last year, close game with Marion then blasted by St. Joe. Expecting the Huskies to take care of business and get on the winning track before going to New Carlisle.

Logansport @ Adams: Logansport may run for 400 plus in this game. Not sure what Adams needs to do to become the premier South Bend Public School.

Marian @ CMA: It's always hard to tell what you are going to get from CMA this early in the season. This is arguably to the best time to play CMA before they hit a stride mid-season. I am going to take the Knights by a couple of scores.

New Prairie @ Goshen: Goshen has a lot of work to do before being competitive but showed some flashes on the offensive side of the ball against Fairfield. Think the power running game will wear them down unless they can get into a shootout.

Northridge @ Elkhart: Elkhart played tough against a excellent Concord team. I am taking Northridge based on discipline alone as you never know what mistakes Elkhart may make on Friday night. This is somewhat of a toss up for me.

Penn @ Mishawaka: I think this game will be close to start due to the adrenaline of a big rivalry game. But if Penn's offense can keep up what it did on Friday against Valpo I don't think Mishawaka can keep up and it my get away from them.

Riley @ Wayne: Don't know much about Wayne but I think Riley will ride the confidence of last week and take the W. Confidence won't last long as they meet Penn next week...

If Penn can put up another 500+ yards of O against the Cavemen,  I am sorry for what is going to happen to the other NIC teams.
