Shoot_The_Hands replied to BDGiant93's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
IMG has the same thing. They have 3 teams. 1 National, 1 Jr. National, and 1 State team that plays Florida schools. They haven't won a "national title" since 2023. -

Looks like per multiple sources that he is heading to Lowell. -
I see it more as Jr's/SR's being the ones to transfer maybe a few sophomores. But again, a school could not agree to sign off making said transfer ineligible for varsity play for one year if they don't like them transferring then the student has to make a decision, transfer and lose a year of varsity football or stay put. This is one thing that they technically have in college but causes a stir when used.
-
Again if you think the athlete is getting "recruited" then the school he is leaving does not have to sign off on them. They simply could just refuse to and use this as there reasoning. The whole "being recruited" to me is just an excuse for kids wanting to go somewhere that they have a better chance of succeeding. Again if the school doesn't like that then they should not sign off on letting them transfer and make them play JV for a whole season. But again, schools don't want to open up a can of worms with appeals and media.

Easy their grandpa, I don't think it has anything to do with the generation we are bringing up. The NCAA is not a good comparison in this case. I think in most cases when it comes to high school, the parents have a decent enough mind to understand when a transfer is reasonable. The IHSAA still has to sign off on the transfer an I personally think that they still make mistakes on the sign off process. I coached at a high school where we had a student-athlete transferring because his sister was going to be a freshman at our school rather than the school he was at due to the talk of it closing in two years, which is a very good reason to transfer so you can have both kids at one school together. Instead, the IHSAA didn't sign off and denied the appeal stating it was for athletic reasons. Whether this passes or not I still don't think it will matter, as both schools and state need to agree on the transfer. I think this whole thing is getting blown way out of proportion and it isn't going to be the wild west like we see in college football.

It is well documented that ND tried to join the Big Ten in the past and were rejected because of, you guessed it, Michigan. 1899 they tried to join with IU and Iowa and weren't invited to the meeting. Then they tried in 1926 and a Michigan Man Fieding Yost didn't want them to join due to anti-catholicism. They tried for 2003 but I think it was for other sports and not football. This is the main reason I think Notre Dame will never join the Big Ten. The ACC is the best bet at this point due to the other sport tie ins

I wouldn't say USC isn't a "stellar team." Up to the Notre Dame game, USC had a lead in the 4th quarter in every game they played. If they come out on the other end of those it is a completely different conversation. I think Notre Dame is one of the more physical teams in the country. In every game I have watched, the other team almost seems to be tapping out by the end of the game with exhaustion, obviously except for Norther Illinois. They simply take the will from other teams with great tackling and pounding the rock.

NIC Teams - 1st round of the tournament
Shoot_The_Hands replied to ASJCPUMA's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
West Side 5-4 at New Prairie, 6-3 - I think New Prairie takes this easily especially at home. History shows the Gary schools are typically not as good as there records show. I think this is a running clock by the 4th quarter. St. Joseph 5-4 at Riley, 2-6 - I think this is closer than expected with SJ taking the W. The regular season game was closer than the score looked but Riley made some mistakes to make it worse. Still like SJ but anything can happen playing a team twice. Washington 0-9 at NorthWood,4-5 - Northwood by a mile. Should be a running clock by halftime. Calumet 5-4 at Marian, 4-5 - I like Marian in this one. You never know what to expect with Calumet these days as they have come a long way in the last ten years. Don't think it'll be a running clock but Marian wins comfortably. -
NIC - FINAL WEEK OF THE SEASON

I don't even think it has to do with youth. That past few years St. Joe has been struggling to find an identity offensively. Every year there has been a different type of offense. I think they need to stick to something and get good at it so the youth they do have can be familiar with it by the time they get older. They are going to be losing some horses defensively this year to graduation as well. -
NIC - FINAL WEEK OF THE SEASON

Unfortunately don't think Penn v. St. Joe will be much of a game. Offense doesn't score enough points against the good teams to win. St. Joe D will keep them in it for a half like in years past but the offense won't be able to do enough. Regardless of how inconsistent Penn has been this year I think they win in a "blowout". -
I think the Holmes issue as well as being move to the NIC didn't help. I always kind of saw Bremen being kind of the outsider when they were forced to move conferences since they were the smallest school. From my experience seeing Bremen football, the program and community thrive on the type of games the old Northern State used to provide where the community mattered and the stands were full. Not like in the NIC where most of you games against the SBCSC had half full stands. Hopefully, the new NSC can bring some of the old aura back to how it used to be, but both Bremen and Glenn need to get back to how it used to be for the conference to be special as these two teams look like the bottom feeders to me.
-
Bremen @ John Glenn - Two teams that are a shell of what they used to be. Both teams trying to get the program back to where it was in the past and find an identity. There has been some great games in the past between these two teams so I won't be surprised if Bremen comes out on top but I am taking the Falcons. LaVille @ Knox - Tough test for LaVille this week against that Radke offense. Believe there defense will play Knox tough at first but Knox will wear them down and come out on top. Tippecanoe Valley @ Jimtown - Don't know much about Valley but from what I hear, if you can shut down there run game they don't have much else. I think Jimtown see's the conference title in sight and wins on the Banks of the Baugo.

Week # 6 in the NIC
Shoot_The_Hands replied to ASJCPUMA's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Elkhart 35 at St. Joseph 0 Honestly don't think this will be much of a game. St. Joe can't put up more than 24 points against a struggling Adams team. Can't Imagine what this one will be like. Defense will keep them in it early then get worn out with offense going 3 and out. Penn 49 at Adams 0 This will probably be an absolute beat down by Penn. Will we ever find out what is going on at Adams and why they can't succeed as a program? Riley 10 at New Prairie 28 I am not entirely sold on either of these teams yet this season but have to go with New Prairie in this one in a close game to start until they pull away late. Washington 0 at Marian 56 What else can you say about this one. Washington has a lot of work to do and Marian is just better. -
Marian at Adams - Don't see this being much of a game. Both teams 0-2 but Marian hung with a good Mishawaka team. Had to think playing on Saturday didn't help much either against CMA. Adams is a dumpster fire right now, taking Marian in a landslide. Penn at Riley © - Not much to say about this one. Penn has to be looking to respond after a poor outing last week against Mishawaka. Riley is going to get a rude welcoming to the big side of the NIC. Penn in dominating fashion. St. Joseph at New Prairie Not sure what to think about SJ right now. Had a gritty comeback against Lakeland that fell short and only won by a couple of scores against arguably one of the worst teams in Ft. Wayne at the moment. Even with some new faces on the NP offense I think this will be a victory for NP by a couple of scores. Washington at Elkhart Although Washington is 0-2 they have had close games. Unfortunately don't think that will be the case this week going against a bigger and better Elkhart squad. Elkhart in a domination win at Rice Field.

N.I.C. Week 2

Might want to double check your facts. St. Joe's previous head coach is 2-0 vs. John Glenn... Unfortunately it probably won't happen due to the ball control game Mishawaka should be playing -
N.I.C. Week 2

South Side @ St. Joe: Even though St. Joe started on the wrong foot last week I still think South Side is to early in their re-build to compete in this game. Same thing happened last year, close game with Marion then blasted by St. Joe. Expecting the Huskies to take care of business and get on the winning track before going to New Carlisle. Logansport @ Adams: Logansport may run for 400 plus in this game. Not sure what Adams needs to do to become the premier South Bend Public School. Marian @ CMA: It's always hard to tell what you are going to get from CMA this early in the season. This is arguably to the best time to play CMA before they hit a stride mid-season. I am going to take the Knights by a couple of scores. New Prairie @ Goshen: Goshen has a lot of work to do before being competitive but showed some flashes on the offensive side of the ball against Fairfield. Think the power running game will wear them down unless they can get into a shootout. Northridge @ Elkhart: Elkhart played tough against a excellent Concord team. I am taking Northridge based on discipline alone as you never know what mistakes Elkhart may make on Friday night. This is somewhat of a toss up for me. Penn @ Mishawaka: I think this game will be close to start due to the adrenaline of a big rivalry game. But if Penn's offense can keep up what it did on Friday against Valpo I don't think Mishawaka can keep up and it my get away from them. Riley @ Wayne: Don't know much about Wayne but I think Riley will ride the confidence of last week and take the W. Confidence won't last long as they meet Penn next week... -

NLC - 2024 Season
Shoot_The_Hands replied to NLCTigerFan07's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Hard to start rebuilding a program playing one of the best teams in the area. When you are already playing a tough schedule in the NLC why would you schedule tough non-conference opponents? Right now Goshen needs to rebuild and get some wins under their belts to get kids to come out. Once you establish that, you can start scheduling bigger opponents, but right now you can't schedule these teams to "prepare you for Sectionals"
