Picks:

Reitz at Mater Dei- This game is always a fun matchup no matter the records. Reitz went back on the winning side beating Bosse and Mater Dei is having a nice season. Mater Dei also has the chance to get a share of the SIAC Title with a win AND Castle win over Memorial. The last 2 years have gone to Reitz, but I’m going to pick the Wildcats by 7.

Lincoln at Jasper- Seems like the Wildcats figured a few things and have looked better the last couple of weeks. Lincoln seems to be a frisky team every once in a while. I’ll take the JCats by 2 scores.

Bosse at Harrison- Bosse is having a rough season and is trying to look for their first win. Harrison definitely improved from last season. Give me the Warriors by 4 scores.

North at Central- this game will be a long night for Central, as North is a bigger team. Give me the Huskies in a running clock.

Game of the Week

Castle vs Memorial at Bosse Field- This game has been hyped since early May. Both teams are coming into the game with major SIAC implications on the line. Memorial has already clinched a share of the title, but a win will give the Tigers the outright title. Castle has the opportunity to share the title with the Tigers (or a 3-way tie with MD) with a win. Statistically, both teams have top defenses in the SIAC. This game will live up on the hype and the atmosphere will be electric tonight! Give me the Tigers by 10

Wow, a lot of fun matchups the conference had tonight

Great game between Castle and Memorial.  And what an atmosphere!  The venue had its drawbacks.  But, all in all, it was a really cool experience.

Castle’s offense was a workhorse.  Their scoring drive in the 3rd quarter took almost the entire quarter.  I’m sure that took a lot of energy out of Memorial’s defense.  McCool was terrific, as expected.  And they were efficient passing the ball as well.

Castle’s defense played well, too.  But Memorial just has so many weapons - and a terrific QB to spread the ball around to them.

Tough break on the 4th down drop by Anslinger near the goal line - especially after Castle scored a long TD on the next play.  What could’ve been a 21-7 game almost instantly became a 14-14 game.

This game really lived up to its billing.

Yes, the game had a lot of momentum changing plays throughout the game. The matchup definitely lived up to the hype!

Reitz, what a game, looks like the Panthers returned some key players right on time before the postseason. I saw passing defense had either 3 or 4 picks against Mater Dei.

How about Castle’s McCool last night? Unofficially had 182 rushing yards and 2 TD’s + 77 yard rushing score. Surprised he hasn’t picked up more offers.

He's a heck of a player.

It was another awesome installment in the west rivalry. I agree. Reitz looks like a different team with their guys back. I don't think they are at full strength yet but getting Coates and Johnson back is huge for them. Johnson made some big time catches in their win over MD. It also looks like they have started to use their super soph Darrett more which makes their offense way more explosive. Not sure if they were giving him time to learn the offense or simply saving him for late season. Barring a hiccup for the third year in a row, I think they are poised to finally make a deep playoff run. I have also been impressed with MD. Credit to their players and staff as they are much improved from last year. If they were still in 2A we would be talking about them making another state run. Unfortunately, their season probably ends this week.
