He's not taking over good programs. So, yes his record has taken a hit but he took over a Fountain Central team that in three years only won four games. Before that it was Seeger who didn't have any success since 2010. Rockville would at least compete with teams and as soon as he left they were bad. He takes over bad programs and changes the culture. As for your comment about taking other coaches over him. There's only three coaches that fall into the category with Herb. The other three would not do as great of a job as he does.

Last point you said was spot on though. He does a great job getting great PR

He's 23-40 in the regular season in his career against the six coaches I listed, each of which took over new or struggling programs.

Take Moore, Crabtree and Barrett out of that and then tell me what his record is. He has a winning record against the other three coaches

Thanks @Donnie Baker for trying to get this back on track. @ThePrince you can start a Herb King Lovefest Post somewhere else. Maybe after FC actually wins a game this year.

Back to the games...

Attica @ Parke Heritage - The Ramblers are heading in the right direction. It takes awhile to crawl out of a hole. The Woolfs have beaten some pretty bad teams. But they have scored well in their two victories. (Something must have been off versus Crawfordsville) Scoring eluded them last year. I want to say the improved Ramblers can take this one, but I got to go with the home team. PH 27 Attica 13

Fountain Central @ Covington - Speaking of the Mustangs winning, I think it happens this week. Regardless if they're healthy or not. The Trojans are a paper tiger. Do not be deceived by the 3-0 record. I think FC is way too physical for Covington to handle. FC 28 Cov 7

North Vermillion @ South Vermillion - Can H.S. football games end in a tie like the NFL preseason? I've heard the Falcons are struggling with numbers and I've heard the Cats are playing plenty of young kids. Either way, both are rough situations to be in. Too close to call. This actually could be a pretty entertaining game.

Seeger @ Riverton Parke - Game of the week for sure. The Patriots impressed me by beating LCC in week 1 and followed that up with 2 blowout beat downs of Benton Central and Attica. I believe the Panthers have been more battle tested in playing two solid teams in Cloverdale and Fountain Central. Who should both finish with decent records. Heck, a 2.5 hour drive to play Edinburgh couldn't have been an ideal situation. That being said, the beat down RP dished out last season AT Seeger (40-6) has to be in the back of the Patriots' minds. As Donnie has already pointed out, despite some critics, RP is for real. Can Seeger match their physical play? We'll see, but I'll take the home team. RP 34 Seeger 14

6-6 against Good

4-5 against Sanders (and the future doesn't look good on the win side)

2-7 against Brown.  Hall of Famer wins this battle.

Hope this helps.

Holy cow!  It’s only Wednesday and we are on page 2!!   Happy to see the page back and Donnie leading the charge.

Seeger @ RP - A great early season game.   I’m never one to pick against the Panthers.   The two teams met this summer at a controlled scrimmage.   I’ll go with the home field advantage.   Panthers by 12.  32-20

NV @ SV  - Coach Cory gets another W at home vs the Falcons.  22-20

FC @ Covington - I believe strength of schedule is normally a non-factor in the early season, but it comes into play here.  0-3 FC gets on the board.  The FC defense is too tough and beats 3-0 Covington.   Personally, I’m a huge fan of the Willoughby kid and the way he plays safety.  And Wemer kid is a big DT that’s hard to move.   They’ll control Covington’s offense.

Attica @ PH - Coach Dean vs Coach Rector.  A battle of the two kindest coaches in the WRC IMO.   Just great dudes.   I give the edge to PH as I believe C. Burgess will be the best player on the field this night and cause issues on the edge for Attica.

it’s great having this forum back.  Good luck to everyone and stay healthy.

Looks like @ThePrince was spot on this week, Herb and company took it to the Trojans. Even riddled with injuries, Covington was no match for the Ponies.

I think Helen Kellers even saw that coming. I think the first 3 weeks were the hardest games on the schedule and could be 3-1 right now. The Loins are going to run the table and FC could win out.

Pretty sure Herbs doesn’t want players on the GID. State Law
