  1. 5 years huh? Must be some more talent coming up. I thought coaches were on a year by year basis? I could be wrong, but I can't see a school board giving a guarantee or approving an extracirricular coach for 5 years. Is there a buyout if he leaves before that?
  2. @Donnie Baker, I saw this other day. Looks like they are putting the new field with turf at the high school for next season. Attica Football Flyer 2 (1).pdf
  3. End of the road for the WRC this year. At least both teams get to finish at home... Lafayette Central Catholic @ Seeger - Knights may get distracted at first by the windmills, but not for long. Patriots showed some life gutting out a tough one against Lewis Cass. This one may be closer, but not by much. LCC 35-14 Park Tudor @ North Vermillion - The Panthers have breezed through the first two rounds and should win the sectional again. The Falcons will make them work for it on their home field. PT 35-21
  4. And then there were 3, Sectional Round 2... Seeger @ Lewis Cass - Patriots are struggling on offense as of late and they have a road trip to a pretty decent opponent. I'll take the Kings in this one. LC 28-13 Clinton Prairie @ North Vermillion - Falcons basically had a bye week. The Gophers are a little tougher than some people would like to think. I'll take the visitors. CP 35-28 Covenant Christian @ Riverton Parke - Warriors look to sweep the Parke County schools. However, I'm sure they'll find the turf at RP isn't quite what they're used to. Panthers offensive style could make CC uncomfortable. I like the Panthers in a close one. RP 26-24
  5. Sectionals Round 1... Benton Central @ Seeger - Rematch from week two should go in the Patriots favor. But expect the Bison to make it a game. Seeger 42-28 South Vermillion @ Cascade - This actually should be a fun one. Both teams can score in bunches. What gives in first? The Cadets pass defense or the Wildcats run defense? I say the Home team settles in and controls the clock. Cascade 35-32 Fountain Central @ Park Tudor - The Mustangs have a good opportunity to play spoiler. Hopefully they can contain the Panthers QB. Hopefully. Park Tudor 35-14 Clinton Prairie @ Covington - The Gophers have a decent run game. Albiet it was a rain game, but the Trojans got run over by RP last week. Doesn't look promising. Clinton Prairie 35-18 North Vermillion @ Attica - The Falcons are too much here. Ramblers far from what they used to be. North Vermillion Wins Parke Heritage @ Covenant Christian - Poor Woolfs get to travel to Indy for their last game. You would think the Warriors could afford their own field by now. Covenant Christian 44-14 Riverton Parke @ Cloverdale - Panthers have strung together 3 straight wins. Clovers have taken some lumps the past few weeks. RP ground and pounds another opponent. Riverton Parke 35-12 I believe that is 3 WRC teams winning this week, lol!
  6. Man, how did we get here so fast? Week 9... Attica @ South Vermillion - Ramblers just look to get out of this one healthy so they can start working on their upset of the Falcons next week. The boys from Clinton may throw for a 1000 yards this week. Or will they get other guys in to work on some depth for their expected lengthy post season run? Probably not. SV wins Covington @ Riverton Parke - Apparently, I'm told, the Trojans have an amazing OL/DL. We'll see. Panthers enjoying back to back wins for the first time all year. Senior night in Mecca. There were over 100 combined points in this one last year. (RP 74-36) Probably not the case this year, but I'll take the Home team. RP 35-14 Seeger @ North Vermillion - The Falcons lost a heartbreaker last week. The Patriots let it slip away in the 4th. Another one down to the wire for both teams. I'll take the Home team again. NV 35-34 Fountain Central @ Parke Heritage - The Mustangs got a good win last week. The Woolfs got handled by their county rivals. Both teams didn't get very encouraging sectional draws. This one will be close for awhile. But the King steals one at his old stomping grounds. FC 28-13
  7. Week 8, This season has flown by... Covington @ Attica - Trojans seem to have found a ground game and have been playing pretty physical. Ramblers are ready for basketball/wrestling season after getting blanked by RP last week. Men of Troy by a lot. Covington 42-6 North Vermillion @ Fountain Central - It took the Falcons a while to put away the Woolfs last week. They can't wait too long to get ahead of the Mustangs or it'll be too late. Mustangs looking to stop a 2 game slide and show they're better than they played last week. Falcons in a close one. NV 35-28 Riverton Parke @ Parke Heritage - Parke County Championship. Panthers look to make it two in a row over the Woolfs. Woolfs out to prove their not the inferior program. On paper, this appears to be a close one. My gut says this may be a blowout we may not see coming. I'll be conservative. RP 34-24 South Vermillion @ Seeger - WRC Championship. The boys from Clinton looked tough in putting it to FC last week. The Patriots struggled with the Trojans. I think all the away teams win this week. SV in a close one. SV 34-30 Sectional Draws this weekend. Here's to some good draws for our WRC teams.
  8. Took a little break from picks last week... Attica at Riverton Parke - The Ramblers can do enough to make the Panthers nervous. But I don't think RP gives in on their Homecoming. RP 40-16 Covington at Seeger - The Trojans had some people scratching their heads after beating the Woolfs, but not this guy. Its still not going to be enough momentum to beat the Patriots after beating their former coach, again. Seeger is in the WRC drivers seat IMHO. Seeger 35-7 Fountain Central at South Vermillion - The Mustangs dropped a shootout to Seeger, again. The Wildcats beat up RP. This is the Game of the Week. But there will be no dancing on the 50 yard line from the boys from Clinton this week, the real WRC King is in town. FC 34-28 Parke Heritage at North Vermillion - Woolfs are reeling, Falcons just keep getting better each week. May be close early or maybe late, but NV controls this game. NV 44-14
  9. Mecca Tavern. Then you can talk football with RP Head Coach, Brad Sanders. He's the owner.
  10. Week 5, half way done... Attica @ Fountain Central - Not much to say about this. Ramblers should score a few, but it won't be enough to top the Mustangs. FC 38-12 Riverton Parke @ North Vermillion - Panthers have yet to play an entire game. Injury bug has hit them as well. Falcons were a miracle catch away from beating the boys from Clinton. Donnie, this game will be closer than you think. NV 28-20 Seeger @ Parke Heritage - The Patriots pounded RP in the second half. Expect them to pound the Woolfs all game. Apparently some IFCA coaches think PH is the 11th best team in 1A? Laughable. Seeger 42-8 South Vermillion @ Covington - The boys from Clinton pulled one out Saturday night. The Trojans have fallen back to Earth. The Wildcats might be a little rusty having to actually play on a Friday night this week. Lots of Black and Gold being worn at The Complex. SV 48-7 @Donnie Baker I'll make a donation this week.
  11. Week 4... Attica @ Parke Heritage - Woolfs got owned by the boys from Clinton. The Ramblers are still figuring things out under their new coach, but they have the scheme to make PH nervous. If they can limit their mistakes, this one may be close. PH 32-24 Fountain Central @ Covington - The Mustangs had just enough big plays early on to keep RP at a distance. The Trojans struggled in all aspects against NV and got dominated. Also heard they may have lost their starting QB. FC is still intact and are getting better every week. This game belongs to the Visitors. FC 34-14 Seeger @ Riverton Parke - Patriots blew out Attica early on and got lots of reps for the JV, but they are not as physical as they used to be. The Panthers are still trying to figure out life without #24. They took some big punches early at FC, but for 2 1/2 quarters they traded back and forth with the Ponies, just never capitalized. Whoever plays the most physical will win. I still think RP can turn it around. RP 22-20 North Vermillion @ South Vermillion - Saturday night football! (Again) The boys from Clinton kicked off Little Italy with a blowout of the Woolfs. The Falcons handed out their own whooping of the Trojans. An extra day of preparartion has got to factor in for these two programs and their coaching staffs. SV has the bigger line, but NV line is good at what they do. I think there are going to be lots of scores in this one. SV 48-44
  12. Week 3... Attica @ Seeger - The Patriot offense exploded for 49 points last week. They may have that in the first half this week. Ramblers best chances for a Win might be behind them. Seeger 56-7 Riverton Parke @ Fountain Central - The Panthers were humbled last week by a team that should be playing after Thanksgiving. The Mustangs rebounded against a really bad Crawfordsville team. This one could go either way. I don't think RP is as bad as what people hope. I don't think FC is as good as what people hope either. RP 28-22 Covington @ North Vermillion - Saturday Night Football!!! New coach has the Trojans scoring lots of points. Falcons have some issues after a tough loss to Paris(IL). Another close one that could go either way. I'll take the visitors. Covington 35-28 Parke Heritage @ South Vermillion - Hopefully Saturday morning football is kinder to the boys from Clinton than Monday evening football. Tough loss against Sullivan. The Woolfs win at West Vigo wasn't as significant as some have been saying. Unfortunately, I think most WRC teams could beat the 3A Vikings this year. And I heard PH got banged up in the process. I don't think the Woolfs D-Line or Secondary can hold up. Wildcats roll during Little Italy Festival. SV 44-14
  13. Week 2... Benton Central @ Seeger - I'm going with the home team Patriots in this one, but the Bison are much improved. 0-2 start for Seeger could derail this year's team. Seeger 26-24 Crawfordsville @ Fountain Central - Both teams got pounded last week. The Athenians are the bigger school and won it at home last year. The home team wins again this year. Mustangs bounce back as they head into conference play. FC 28-18 North Vermillion @ Paris (IL) - The Falcons struck early, but let NC stick around last week. This is week 1 for the Tigers. Expect the Falcons to be more crisp and pull away. NV 36-14 Parke Heritage @ West Vigo - Last year the Vikings used early Woolfs mistakes to take a commanding lead. I think this year the tables will turn, but will be a little closer. PH 34-20 Riverton Parke @ Carroll(Flora) - How good are the Cougars really? How good are the Panthers really? I think some will be surprised one way or another by the results. Panthers earn some respect. RP 28-24 South Newton @ Covington - Trojans beat a bad Tri-County team last week. The Rebels are a little better and should prove to be some rowdy guests at The Complex. SN 28-13 Sullivan @ South Vermillion - Isn't this the Battle of the Golden Helmet? Do the Arrows and the Cats even wear golden helmets? Sullivan is always tough. The boys from Clinton look really tough. I think they win the trophy this year. SV 42-32 Tri-County @ Attica - The Cavaliers continue their try-out for the WRC this week as they take on the Ramblers. Fortunately, some one has to win. Unfortunately, it won't be the home team. TC 24-6
  14. It's OK if you don't like RP, you can still make a pick for their game. Haha
  15. Football is back! Lots of familiar faces in the WRC this year, but a handful of standouts have moved on. Should be very interesting to see the results of some of these games. North Vermillion at North Central(Farmersburg) - The T-Birds have pretty low numbers, but they always seem to play hard. The Falcons should handle business here, but look for a long season if they don't. NV 28-14 Parke Heritage at Linton - Oh boy. I heard the Woolfs were flying around on D at the Jamboree. But I also heard they couldn't score either. They'll be doing none of that at Linton. Miners are just too much. Linton 48-0 Pike Central at Riverton Parke - The Chargers have another new coach (3rd in 6 years) and have to drive all the way to Mecca. The Panthers look to start off on the winning side for the 3rd straight year(without 'Mr. RP') It was confirmed that they had over 50 kids on the sidline Friday night. RP 28-7 Seeger at Lafayette Central Catholic - The Patriots have struggled winning their opening game since the 'Legend' left. I don't think the trip to Lafayette will be much different this year. Knights win a close one. LCC 28-21 Finneytown(OH)? at Attica - I don't know what is going on here. First it was South Bend Riley, now Finneytown(OH). And the Wildcats' website says they're playing another Ohio school. Harrell says it's at Attica versus the Ramblers. Does it matter? Finneytown picks the score South Vermillion at West Vigo - The kids from Clinton are loaded. Looks like they beat up on some bigger Terre Haute schools at their Jamboree. Traditionally this one went to the Vikings. All Wildcats here. SV 49-14 Tri County at Covington - Flip a coin. New coach for the Trojans. Cavaliers have the edge since their coach is in his second year. TC 21-20 Fountain Central at Southmont - Saturday night special. (Hopefully, this isn't becoming the norm.) The Mounties won pretty easily last year. I don't know what they have returning. The Mustangs look to continue to improve. Southmont in a close one. Southmont 24-22
  16. Way too early WRC predictions... Seeger - Do they reload? The Chin kid was a tough back. Who do they replace him with? Their OL/DL is mostly back and pretty good. I think the Patriots will be right back where they finished last year. They're the best until they're not. Covington - New head coach. Will they still try to spread people out? Or maybe run the football? Coach Brown is a good dude, but I don't think even his help would help the Trojans. They gave up a lot of big plays last year. Got to be able to tackle in football. Fountain Central - They should be better. They should. I've also heard numbers were up. Regardless, Coach King will have them ready to go. Back shoulder fades will be all the rage for the Mustangs in Veedersburg. Attica - New Coach. Same team. I heard they did some summer competitions, which is an improvement over the previous few seasons. The Good days are gone for the Ramblers, however. South Vermillion - Big linemen. Great skill players. QB (and Coach) that likes to fling it. The Wildcats have it all and then some. Until Sectional time. North Vermillion - One man band in Cayuga. We'll see if Crabtree can regroup without Coach Blank by his side. (Although I'm sure he'll still be an "advisor") Coaches coach, kids play. Crabtree and the Falcons still have a pretty good QB and some skill players. Riverton Parke - Speaking of one man bands... The Panthers graduated a lot of offense last year. I mean a lot. (Over 3000 yds and 40+ TDs worth) Can they find replacements, reload and compete every week? At #6 Carroll (Flora) isn't a joke either. They're either crazy, or know something we don't. I heard they have a lot (50+) of kids out. Sorry Donnie, but I think something big is brewing in Mecca these days. Parke Heritage - Are the Woolfs content being little brother in Parke County and the WRC? I've heard the numbers are kinda low for a PH team. I like what they're trying to do. They may win a few more this year and compete better, but is it good enough in Rockville?
  17. @Donnie Baker, Not my feelings. Just reading in between his lines. I've heard a lot of people saying how down the conference was. Maybe the talent is just shifting to other schools? As is the case with most 1A/2A conferences.
  18. Translation # 1... There's no way SV can lose the title to Seeger, again. Right? Translation #2... If RP finishes with a winning record and at the top part of the conference, again, the WRC is just trash.
  19. I haven't seen anything. You'd think they'd have it figured out by now.
  20. Sectional Round 2 picks... (Sorry I took last week off, I was caught up in Covered Bridge traffic) I agree with @Donnie Baker, the Indy area bias on these match-ups is very evident on Harrell's site. I don't think any of these games will be blowouts regardless of who wins. Trader's Point Christian @ North Vermillion - Harrell has this as the closest match-up, and it may be. The Falcons will be ready. The Knights beat only one team all year with a winning record, South Newton (6-4). I think the coaching will be key in this one. Crabtree and Blank are always prepared this time of the year, and #12 can hurt you running and throwing. I think the home team gets the narrow win, 35-31 Park Tudor @ Fountain Central - More Harrell bias, 52-17? I doubt the Mustangs can outscore the Panthers in this one, but Coach King is another one who will have his team prepared. Park Tudor will see heavy doses of #9 if Fountain Central wants to keep pace. Hopefully, there's only 11 PT defenders on the field when FC has the ball. Lots to look forward to in the future from the Mustangs. They may lose, but they'll keep it close, 41-32. Riverton Parke @ Covenant Christian - Have they figured out where this one is being played yet? Last I heard the Warriors couldn't play at their normal spot (Zionsville MS) because it didn't have play clocks? Could the Panthers get to host if a spot is not found soon? Anyways, I don't think CC is three TD's better than RP either. Not too many teams have found a way to stop #24 this year. Getting shut out by SV a month ago seems to have ticked RP off. I don't think CC is as good up front as SV was, and the Panthers will want to control that clock to keep the Warriors offense off the field. Coach Sanders & Company will have their boys ready. I think the Panthers score late to get back to the Sectional Championship, 30-28.
  21. Week 9 Picks... South Vermillion @ Attica - Last win of the year for the Wildcats. The Red Ramblers are just surviving at this point. 63-0. Riverton Parke @ Covington - The Panthers manhandled PH to beat them for the first time. The Trojans had to go down to the wire with PH a few weeks ago. Doesn't bode well for the host team in this one. Panthers ground and pound for the win, 42-20. Parke Heritage @ Fountain Central - I agree with @Donnie Baker, the Mustangs are better than their record. The Woolfs are exactly what they are, 1-7. Not much of a Dog Fight here, 36-18. North Vermillion @ Seeger - Heck of a turnaround by the Patriots, from 0-2 to WRC champs. The Falcons could throw a wrench in the outright title, but it's doubtful. I think Seeger wins another close one, 35-24.
  22. Negative, they'll be as big as or bigger than SV in a few short years. Believe it or not, C-Ville is expanding. Don't fit the profile of small rural community school Agreed, Very Nice Facilities
  23. Week 8 Picks... Attica @ Covington - Is it basketball season yet? Rough go for both schools this year. The Red Ramblers play hard, just not enough Joes. The Trojans are underwhelming at best, but they should get the home win, 44-18. Fountain Central @ North Vermillion - The Mustangs fought hard against SV, but again, ran out of steam. The Falcons have been putting things together since getting shut down by RP a couple weeks ago. This is probably game of the week #2. Crabtree & Blank vs. Herb & Company. Falcons outlast the Mustangs, 35-34. Seeger @ South Vermillion - The WRC Championship is on the line! Hopefully the Patriots are healthy. The Wildcats got a bit of a test for once from FC last week. This is definitely game of the week #1. Wildcats D gets a stop late, 28-24. Parke Heritage @ Riverton Parke - Saturday night special. Seriously, another game change due to officials? Where are all the Refs? Parke County Championship and bragging rights on the line. Who will complain more about losing, @KAllen, an avid RP fan or @BillyBettis, a PH enthusiast? Unfortunately for the Woolfs, although they'll be fired up, this probably won't be a Dog Fight. I think the Panthers just have more Joes, 36-16.
  24. Week 7 Picks... North Vermillion @ Parke Heritage - The Falcons get another week to rev back up the offense with sectionals looming close. I'm sure some of the Woolfs are hoping to be hitting the hardwood or the mats soon. Not a Dog Fight, the Falcons get the win, but it'll be closer than some think, 40-24. Riverton Parke @ Attica - The Panthers took one on the chin from the River Cats. They might be banged up a bit, but it shouldn't matter this week. The Red Ramblers take it on the chin every week. They'll have no answers for Mr. RP. Panthers get healthy and come away with the win, 41-6. Seeger @ Covington - The Patriots may be banged up a little bit from last week as well. What a game with FC! The Trojans escaped at PH, despite some questionable play calls late. Seeger keeps it rolling and sets up a Conference Championship game next week at SV, 35-14. South Vermillion @ Fountain Central - The Wildcats flexed some muscle last week shutting down RP completely. SV defense doesn't hardly get enough credit. The Mustangs nearly took out Seeger, but sputtered late. I see this being close for a while but South Vermillion pulls away, 42-19.
  25. Week 6 Picks... Attica @ North Vermillion - The Falcons are probably ready to get back to winning this week. Back to back losses to the Wildcats and the Panthers may have knocked them out of WRC contention. I think the Red Ramblers are just what the doctor ordered. Falcons get a running clock game in their favor, 48-6. Covington @ Parke Heritage - The Trojans took it on the chin last week. So did the Woolfs. Trojans haven't pulled out a win since week one, but have scored some points in previous games. The Woolfs have only managed to score significant points against Attica. This one may be a Dog Fight. i think the Woolfs home field advantage will help them come out on top, 34-32. Fountain Central @ Seeger - Oh boy, this should be a good one. Possibly game of the week material. I'm sure there will be no love lost between the Patriots and the Mustangs. Former Coach vs. Former Players. Both teams have rebounded nicely from a rough beginning. And both can pound the ball down the field. Although, I think Seeger will be too much in the end, 44-24. Riverton Parke @ South Vermillion - This one was so important it had to be played on a Saturday! Seriously though, I heard there was some trouble finding officials to work Friday night, so it had to be moved. I hope this isn't becoming a trend. Saturday is for college football! Maybe the Wildcats still have some talent they feel can play on Saturdays? The Panthers looked impressive grinding one out against the Falcons. If the Panthers can pull this one off it may give Seeger an inside track to the WRC title. I think that is what will happen. Panthers find a way and grind out another one, 26-24.
