It's finally football season.

Will Pioneer run away with the league again or will they have challengers?

Judson has the athletes to be very good this year but the biggest question on them is if they have the hosses up front.

Winamac has another new coach, could he change the culture?

Is this the year Triton finally gets over the hump in football?

Knox @ North Judson

South Central @ Wheeler

LaVille @Triton

Central Noble @ Culver

Caston @ Whitko

West Central @ Winamac

Northfield @ North Miami

Pioneer @ Lewis Cass

Caston should have one of the better teams they've had in a while. Still think the championship game will be played week 9 at the Pit. The rumor is that Pioneer has a good redshirt freshman QB. What will North Miami, Winamac and Triton look like this year?

Scrimmaged Judson, well coached, tough kids. Definition of a program. Plug and chug, doesn't matter who is in for them, they produce.

Scrimmaged winamac on Friday. They were physical, good size, and had some speed. Need to fine tune some things on the defensive side of the ball, but they will be better than last year. I would want to play them early because I think they will get better and better as the season goes on.

I think the HNAC will look pretty similar to the last couple seasons. I’ll go:

1) NJSP - Most production comes back

2) Pioneer - Lost a lot of yards, tackles, and points. But there’s a reason Royal Center hasn’t seen a truly disappointing season in the Pit for 30 years. They’ll be in the race week 9.

3-6) Some combination of Caston, North Miami, Triton, Winamac (listed here in alphabetical order). Caston looks to be very tough out for the middle and bottom classes of the conference this year. North Miami looks to take a step back. But still enough pieces to be competitive this fall. Winamac size will be a load to handle for most. Triton graduated a lot but will still be formidable I’d imagine.

7) Culver. But really solid group of sophomores

8:) South Central. But a really solid group of freshmen

I have the exact same picks this week. Hoping the Cavs can pull what would be the upset

Knox @ North Judson- Jays catch a few breaks with Knox figuring out their offensive identity post their Mr Football era. 28-14

South Central @ Wheeler- Wheeler seems to be getting close to their late 2000s era of decent football teams. 35-7

LaVille @Triton- LaVille with a hard hitting win in week 1.  21-0

Central Noble @ Culver- Cavs pull out the win.  22-20

Caston @ Whitko- Is this the year Caston makes a run at the top 3? Early blowout could tell us here. 35-14

West Central @ Winamac- Only bc they are returning their coach. 20-12

Northfield @ North Miami- Warriors won't be as tough but still handle Northfield 26-6

Pioneer @ Lewis Cass- Pioneer starting a freshmen at qb? Lot of replacements from last year but Panthers find their groove in second half and pull away.  28-13

Jays have to be conference favorite. Shouldn’t have a problem with total overhauled Skins.

Wheeler

Central Noble

Caston

Laville

Warriors cruise

North Miami

Kings return everyone from 8-4 team and have been targeting this year. Pioneer return very few.  🥴

Not everyone, they did lose 2,100 of their 3,000 yards of offense from last year just in one senior alone. Heard the offensive line was really good tho. Gonna lean on those big boys up front until they can find their go to backs.

Knox @ North Judson- NJ looking for revenge after last year's loss to the county rival. I look for a lot of scoring early but the Jays to settle in on D and get some stops. Jays 38 - 22.

South Central @ Wheeler- Wheeler has some great skilled players. Looks like they may have a strong air attack this season. SC starting a young team this year. Wheeler 56 - 6.

LaVille @Triton- Close one here. I look for Laville to sneak out a W against their rival. Anxious to see how the new coach settles in. Laville 24-20.

Central Noble @ Culver - CN looks to have a bounce back year and Culver still chasing some consistency in their play. CN 30 - 20.

Caston @ Whitko - Caston has the potential to compete this season in their conference. They will be a hard-hitting team and I think they pull off a convincing win tonight. Caston 40 - 13.

West Central @ Winamac- Will Winamac bounce back after the big loss to county rival WC last season? Not likely as WC returned a big portion of the team. WC 40 - 20.

Northfield @ North Miami - NM graduated some solid talent but seem to be figuring something out. Curious to see how their younger guys step up. NM 22 - 14.

Pioneer @ Lewis Cass - This is the most intriguing matchup as Pioneer lost a lot of their production from last season, but then again, it's Pioneer. They will be ready to roll heading into this season and looking for a chance to head back down south. Lewis Cass brings back a lot of talent with the exception of their +2000 yard back. Coming off a strong 8-4 record and ready for revenge after the 0-28 loss to Pioneer last season. Hard to pick against the panthers, give me Pioneer 28-22.
