definitely a favorable schedule with Texas A&M FSU and USC as biggest challenges. And I’m assuming they’ll be ready for Louisville this year but will there be a new Louisville this year? I’d say anything less than 11 wins would be disappointing but more importantly get into playoffs and win some games. I’d add a #3 and that the qb room might be the best it’s ever been with Riley Leonard Steve Angeli Minchey and Carr. Hope they’re all still there in August and riley Leonard is healthy. Strange that the offense line has to be figured out and may not be a strength like most irish teams. Year 3 has been a big year for head coaches at Notre Dame. I love everything coach freeman has done off the field and brining back Mike Denbrock to run the offense will be huge. But it’s time to win and win vs the good teams. I drove past the stadium last Saturday after the baseball game got rained out. The stadium looks great. They could use a larger visitor's are, but overall it will be a great additional to Jasper's already incredible athletic facilities. And BTW, during the radio broadcast of the regional baseball game on Monday, the announcer said Jasper's Ruxer Field is going artificial turf for next year?? Is that true? That really surprises me because that field has always been darn near pristine.

And that’s just the tax revenue. The amount wagered is many multiples of that. With that much money in play, it seems a foregone conclusion that there will be those who want to get a slice of that by manipulating outcomes. There is a potential gambling scandal brewing in the NBA right now, springing from the proliferation of “prop” bets based on individual statistics. It’s a lot easier for a single player to influence statistics like 3 pt. shot attempts, assists, turnovers, etc., than to determine the outcome of a game. The confluence of gambling and fantasy sports creates unlimited opportunities to skew results. The NFL and other leagues are now so heavily invested in sports gambling that anything that suggests to bettors that the games are not on the up and up will be dealt with swiftly and severely. And it is spreading to college sports as well … which are not nearly as closely monitored as pro sports. Look for lifetime bans and criminal prosecutions. We have been used to TV networks exerting major influence on game times, pace of play, and other aspects of the games. Is the day far off when the large gambling concerns like Bally, Draft Kings, MGM, etc., will have that type of influence?
