There are promising coaches that have 3A, 4A and 5A offenses producing at college levels. I think there is a coach in the Indy area that would love take on this opportunity.

Heck could there be a really promising assistant coach at one of our colleges that would even be interested in cutting his head coaching teeth.  Penn just has to be smart in their approach and consideration of these candidates. Just going with the ho-hum same old is not going to satisfy the boosters.

The ball is in the hands of the administration , lets hope they don't fumble it .

Penn went and got Gees from Ohio...Go external. There has to be someone who is young with a brilliant Offensive mind that wants to bring back this giant.

We need someone who will go back and foster the development of future Kingsmen through our Rocket league to Middle School ball.

Even if the HC isn't directly involved the OC and DC should be hands on with the approach the teams have in development and implementation of the base offense.

All very good points . Penn has the facilities and resources in place for a young coach to come in and make Penn relevant(Statewide) again . As BlackGold said ,All great programs regardless of the sport, start at the youth level.

Yeah, but that game wasn't even close. I rank losing to Valpo last year right up there with losing to Penn in 1997 and Carmel in 1986. Three years Snider let the state championship slip through their fingers.

IMO Snider was the better team in all 3 of these losses .

Sorry, yours takes the cake. No matter how good Snider looked, some dumbo is going to come on here and diminish what they did to keep the "5A is bad" narrative going.

I was actually pretty impressed with Decatur Central. They just ran into, arguably, the best defense Snider's ever put on the field. The Panther's defense is good enough to keep them in any game against any team in the state. I'm not saying I'm prepared to rank them #1, but your comment about all those teams beating Snider by multiple scores really illuminates your low IQ of the game.

Snider tricked the entire state of Indiana into thinking they were overrated after their one point win over Mishawaka. Snider nation knows what I'm talking about.

Actually, I thought just the opposite after the Mishawaka game. Snider had a long bus ride into a very hostile environment, playing a very good team with a ball control offense. Snider found a way to win, and that’s what championship level teams do.

If you can’t run the ball in from the 1 yard line then you don’t deserve to score. Unfortunately, we Snider fans have watched this for years with Tippmann, he overthinks stuff…

I just don't get it , if you don't think you can pound it in between the tackles , just pitch it to a speedster out in space . Snider is rarely ever without guys that can flat out fly .

I'm in the same boat as you @BTF. Maybe Center Grove's run feels a little bit like Ben Davis from '87-'02, but against a stronger field. If I'm ranking dynasties [which to me isn't limited to consecutive championships] it goes:

    #1 Warren Central 2003-2006

    #2 Center Grove 2011-present

    #3 Ben Davis 1987-2002

    I think Penn's is more impressive than BD's . From 1995-2000(6 years) Penn played in 5 State championships , winning 4 out of 5 along with 3 in a row . WC=4 , CG and Penn =3 . BD never won 3 in a row .

Luers  from 2009-2012. Lafayette Central Catholic from 2009-2012. I think those are your next two.

There's been several. I'm sure Ben Davis, Penn, Center Grove, Western Boone, Roncalli, Chatard, Cathedral, and Sheridan would love to be added to the conversation.

I would start with who won the most consecutive titles, then work backwards from there.

While a couple of players on the CP team can handle the pressure, they cannot block, catch, run, pass the ball and they cannot take on blocks, guard or tackle every player on the field.

These two guys have to rely on the other 9 to not be overwhelmed by the moment.

    Another note...

CP has found ways to win, in very tough games. If BD can throw the ball downfield and give CP more than one formation to look at....I think BD will control the game via the air. Penn ran at most 5 formations against CP... (that is I believe over by 3 formations) CP really struggled when Penn went 5 wide.

When you say "These two Guys" your referencing the Clark brothers? They also have stud Griffin Van Tichelt who made it to state last year but was beaten on Friday night . Add in a slew of other wrestling studs . Lets be honest , CP's wrestling JV would be top 10 in the state . CP has some very good players , but they don't have enough to deal with BD's speed for 4 quarters .

Eh, there really isn’t but I feel like BD is on a roll here and the bright lights of the state finals will play a factor.

FWIW I have also doubted this Crown Point team the last two weeks…

I don't believe the bright lights will play a factor . CP has a hand full of either state champion or state place wrestlers on this team . They have wrestled all over the country since a very young age . This stage will not be to big for them . Past history will have nothing to do with it either . If CP loses this game it will be because BD is the better team, period .

I will repeat I am not speculating on prior years results to skew my opinion. I am stating whole heartedly my opinion from watching on the field play this year 2023. We will soon find out on Saturday, and you can tell me if I am incorrect on how Crown Point plays Ben Davis's talent compared to Brownsburg, Cathedral, or Center Grove. If I am wrong I will promptly admit it after Saturday.

You didn't offend me, I've been called much worse. I was told the same thing about conviction in my opinion in 2003 when Penn had to play Warren Central for the then 5A State Championship. Combating those stating how good Penn's defense was. I think @Bobref is still chasing Desmond Tardy for touchdowns. I apologize Penn fans not trying to drum up old memories. I watched that Warren Central team pound eventual Ohio Div 1 State Champion Elder 45-20 at Ryle High School in Kentucky earlier that year. They were really really good. It was nothing personal against Penn.

It was a tough pill to swallow at the time , I was at the 2003 state game . As time passed , I started to appreciate just how good that 2003 Warren team was .

The Cincy Elder coach was quoted as saying Warren was the best high school football team that he had ever seen . That's saying something coming from a Cincy Ohio coach .

Another data point, Cathedral curb stomped Penn, BD eliminated Cathedral and Crown Point was a blocked FG away from losing to Penn.

I’m slowly talking myself into 63-14.

Warren Central played BD Tough, Snider Whipped Warren Central, Snider barely survived Mishawaka. Penn easily beat Mishawaka, Crown Point Barely beat Penn. Does this mean CP and BD are about even? No Transitive Properties do not work in football.

    “Made up accomplishments” lol.

When you back an animal into a corner you can’t act surprised when it bites…

I come here to talk football…you come here in an attempt to assassinate my character because I’m often not “nice” when I dispute people’s claims.

Its ok.  I  have another leash.

Animal??? LOL . Temp , you actually have to have character for someone to try and assassinate it . Bashing high school football programs that are played by student athletes , the very students that you supposedly teach , is really showing character . Now back to the topic at hand .

So because someone posts his opinions on a message board

    supports them with facts,

and when people disagree with him he asks them to back up their claims with facts as well.

    he shouldn't be a teacher?

Rodney, most teachers I know don’t come on a public forum and bash several schools football programs for not being up to the standards of their Circle City counterparts. This is one reason, I could literally type for hours listing others, but he’s not worth that much time.

A teacher who has gained highly effective evaluations from his superiors for nearly two decades and has impacted more children than you could even count.

Actually recently obtained my officiants licenses and performed a wedding ceremony for two of my former athletes and was asked to be the godfather of their expectant child.

What’d you do today?  Have a photo of your wife also?

Once again, has to Gloat about made up accomplishments, Look how good I am. If you’re good at anything in life, whether work or personal, people will notice. Temp gets some sort of weird satisfaction for telling everyone.
