Luers, when they have a really good team, has shown the ability to compete with and beat 4, 5, and 6A teams. That is not hyperbole, that is fact. This year’s team is not on that level, but they are able to compete with and beat 2A teams

I agree... lcc can and has punched outta their weight class as well... hence they remain in 2A today... should this team somehow manage to win at Luers... would be quite a feat... jmho

    Enrollment numbers:

    Luers 481... 20 short of 3A

Lcc 296... 82 short of the bottom of 2A

It's said.. Luers in any given yr can still give anyone in 2A a run for ther money... whic I think is true... both schools r not fielding the best of their best all time teams.... And peeps can't make up their minds who the real dog in this game is?  Really??

This is not the typical Luers juggernaut when they get to this level. Usually, they overmatch most 2A teams, I just don’t see that talent level for them this year. They work hard and play hard, but they don’t have that stud athlete like in years past. This is a more workman like team

I think everyone gets that... what they dont appear to get is... Ditto for Lcc... all being equal ... that niether have a dominate team.. the Blue Knights, by enrollment alone, r at a big disadvantage in this game... not that those darn ole intangibles couldnt fall the Blue Knights way   jmho

Having said that, LCC is a longtime powerhouse at this level. I have Luers as a slight favorite in this game

Thx for the props but don't think Lcc supporters c it that way... Lcc has yet to get to State in 2A FB with some pretty good teams.... and while peeps are downplaying the Red Knight SAC title... they ignore a 3rd place finnish for Lcc in a down Hoosier... wher they got shellacked by a down WL....

It ranks up there with the dude from Liptons that said North Davies could match up with LCC in 2009

Yeah... I dont fault him for supporting his team... Lcc fans tried to tell him what was coming... maybe the best Lcc team ever... like Luers/Sheridan supporters.. having a number of outstanding teams over the yrs... it gives Lcc a solid baseline to gage outcomes...

Since the analysts mentioned New Haven as a team with passing that Luers faced, I did a little back-of-napkin check across 10 games:

    • QB Rating: 113 although it was only around 60 against Luers.
    • Total passing yards:  1921
    • Comp rate: 60.1%
    • Completions per TD: 5.95
    • Longest: 87 yards
    • Picks: 5
    • New Haven averaged about 13 completions a game

    LCC (through 13 games):

    • QB Rating: 103.9 although was 81.5 vs. LaVille
    • Total passing yards:  2807
    • Comp rate: 62.7%
    • Completions per TD: 7
    • Longest: 81 yards
    • Picks: 10 with two against LaVille and three against Guerin
    • LCC averages about 18 completions a game

I'm suprized the Blue Knights rating was that high vrs Laville... they did a good job vrs the pass... + 2 picks... i think Luers will be more capable in that regard... + luers was able to put all kinds of pressure on the Bluffton QB.. Luers holding New Haven to a 60 rating appears more impressive to me... seems like Luers is quite capable of taking Lcc out of its O forcing them to go to the ground... Whats ur take on it??

Luers has benefitted greatly this year without playing Carroll or Snider. Had they played those 2 teams, I honestly believe you would have seen 56-7 losses in both for Luers. Luers did rebound from getting thrashed by East Noble and had a good conference season sans playing the top 2 teams.

Just my opinion here, I see Luers as a slight favorite against LCC. Thinking a 21-14 type of game. LCC better keep contain on Luers though or else that speed will get you…

Someone talking sense... I like that play wher they seal down on the right side n run a train over whoever steps up to fill.....

Throw that out the window. Luers didn't play Snider or Carroll. Most people around here would have those teams as a 21 point favorite over the Knights. Luers blew threw an underwhelming SAC schedule before getting trounced by East Noble and New Haven.  I think this game is about even as it gets, maybe an advantage to LCC.

R u saying... Luers SAC Title is compareable to the Hoosier Conf?

Most seemed to think a muddy field saved the Lancers bacon vrs Andrean.. hmmmm.

LCC will have a better quick game passing the ball than what Bluffton had to equalize that. Bluffton's screens weren't ran near as well as LCC will run them and was still effective against Luers. The slants and stick concept will be key for LCC. I guess we will find out Friday.

I hear what ur saying...  sounds good technically... until u match up... athlete to athlete.... its a steep hill for Lcc to climb....

I think LCC would have beat Dwenger in 68, but they were without their starting fullback, Gordon Halsema.  Dave Metzinger had to take his place.  Dwenger scored in the 3rd to go up 6-0.  LCC had a fourth and seven at the Saints 7 yard line with 41 seconds left, but the Saints intercepted Bush's pass.

Not bad... 69 was just a murderous team....

LCC wins this one. Outside of Snider in Fort Wayne, wasn't impressed with the SAC at all this year, and Luers didn't even have to play them this year. If you can defend a fade and keep contain on a HB toss, you can beat Luers. LCC will be able to do that. In my opinion, the two best teams in the North met each other back in week 2 of Sectionals.

Gotta disagree here... Luers presents ALOT of matchup problems for Lcc... that D end is just one of em... if Lcc is to hav a pig in pokes chance in this game... its between the ears.... jmho

LCC is 2-2 against FW teams.  Dwenger beat LCC 6-0 the first game of the 1968 season.  Dwenger went 8-1 in 1968.  LCC beat at FW South 32-21 in 1972.  South was 1-8 that year.  LCC beat Concordia 13-6 in 1977 and Concordia beat LCC 40-12 in 1978

Sooo... Lcc is 2-1 vrs the Lutherns??

  14. 3 minutes ago, kdets89 said:

Hold on, there!  Concordia won one of those games (1978, 40-12).  LCC won the 1977 game 13-6.

Yes... knew about both Concordia games... the remnants of 76 were gone in 78.... Am curious about Dwenger in 68... 69 was one of the top Lcc teams ever... 76 was just the luckiest....

LCC gets to play FW Luers!  LCC played FW Dwenger in 1968, FW South in 1972 and FW Concordia in 1977 and 1978, but never Luers.  I don't know who is going to win.  LCC fans think Luers is going to win and Luers fans think LCC is going to win.  Its looks like a 50/50 game.  How did Homestead only score 10 points on Luers?  Homestead scored 23 on Snider when they beat them in OT.

Ok Tippy... u da man with the books... Did little Lcc win any of those games?? Other than Concordia....
