I was told by an unnamed AD that there is a good chance that the IHSAA will be played in another facility due to potential Marion County restrictions.

Even after it was stated that the Marion health board or whatever was going to work with the LOS and the IHSAA to still play state? Idk how you go from a quote saying the decision makers are going to work something out, to the decision makers are gonna shut it down.

I think they could still do 25%, but that's still going to limit it to parents of players, cheerleaders, etc. I know a lot of people struggled to get tickets early in the season when the capacity was limited. Marion county will be the big one. Allowing no fans in Marion county wouldn't shock me at all.

I’m more worried about South Adams, so the 25% sucks but is more manageable being at a small school. That probably is still close to the 500 fan mark we’ve been using the past few weeks.

As far as Marion county for state purposes, I could see them getting a waiver to do more in case they are red by then, or in case the county puts more restrictions on. I may just be an optimist, but I don’t see any reason LOS couldn’t have 500-1000 fans per school.

  3. If we can get 25%, that’s not too bad. Semi state could be lacking fans. But state could still hold a good chunk.

I would expect to see parents only after this Friday.

As long as a county in orange, wouldn’t the school still do 25%? Plus, that’s only going to be 12 total schools making that call.

The fact that IHSAA website still has the "normal" state finals info on its website tells me that all of this is currently under consideration....

Apart from questionable weather, would hosting the games at "neutral" metro schools be "easier" from a social distancing/sanitation perspective?  I'm bored and just thinking out loud.  I also have almost zero experience in game administration.  But its an open forum....so🤷‍♂️

It would be way easier to social distant at LOS. Say they only allow 1000 fans per team, that’s probably more than say a Carmel would allow, and be able to keep more distance.

Yeah because if this is an issue. Wrestling will be real fun. They ought to just cancel that now.

Wrestling may actually be one of the best contact sports to manage with Covid. You only wrestle one person from another team at a time, and in practice you can group people separately. The only issue in practice would be the spacing. I hope wrestling isn’t cancelled, I follow that more than I do football.

Yeah I’m not replying to someone with a racist avatar surprised a mod hasn’t made you take it off

Jeez that’s soft. A non racist meme that racists use for their own purposes is now off limits and racist, no matter that it’s just a picture of a sad frog. Even your link talks about how it isn’t usually used for bigoted purposes. There are plenty of reasons to be another with Muda, this is not one of them.

If thinking logically about the situation one would realize that the number of teams playing will 1/2 every week from here on out. As the number active players decreases the likelihood of disruption to the tournament decreases proportionally.

You don’t have to comprehend Zenos paradox nor apply basic statistics.... just 7th grade math.  I assume most posters made it through middle school but perhaps not.

I’d imagine the deeper into the postseason you go, the more teams will try to isolate themselves in school. And I can’t imagine a kid on a contending team actually getting tested in the coming weeks.

New rule.  Anyone who posts a cancellation MUST post a link from school confirming.  The only Southwood I’m seeing under quarantine is 1000 miles away.

Many teams have figured this out

Southwood’s social media posting is a joke, football team hasn’t posted since last October. But really disappointing the school hasn’t released anything official yet, only leaking it to the press. Unless that was the plan....

The questions there are going to be 1) without the usual slate of HC grind and pre-season rigor, will LCC be battle-tested enough for a decent post-season run and 2) will they be able to shake the quarantine blues and have a full roster come post season or will they be short-handed?  The games that they have played, they've been semi short-handed.

Do you think LCC will be able to make it through the postseason? Two different Covid stints doesn’t bode well. Seems like LCC kids are getting tested more than most other schools.

Hopefully COVID isn't going to start ruining things. I'm concerned since AC has closed school the next 2 weeks & not playing Bluffton tomorrow. I'm sure the Woodlan game will probably get scratched, but hope I'm wrong. Really would suck if they have to bow out of the playoffs due to COVID, but safety is the priority. Hopefully SA doesn't get hit by it. That would be very cruel and devastating to see (even for Jets & Braves fans).

I would think AC would be fine for sectional, this just seems like an over-the-top measure. If either SA or AC got held out if the tournament by Ainsworth, there would be riots.

I don't have a dog in the fight, but I know a good football team when I see one. Kind of like South Adams..........a very good team that would wax many schools twice their size. Last year Homestead beat Dwenger because they were the better team. Then they lost their running back Braeden Hardwick at the end of the season. Ask any player, coach, or fan at Homestead if they were a different team after that. It's the same thing with Dwenger not having their RB Tippmann playing in the game. And it still took Homestead a last second score to to force overtime. Dwenger has a special team this year. It's a shame they won't be able to call themselves SAC champs. It's ok though, they've got their sites on getting to the state championship game.

Good luck to the Starfires. This could be their year.

Ok, I’ll take that. Definitely would have changed things. I would love to see Dwenger make a run, probably one of the few teams in our area who can get deep in the tournament. And thanks! Hoping for a run!
