Fair enough, and I've seen this done in an instance or two, but I'm guessing you will see a lot of pushback from parents on this one. Keeping students (student sections that is) out makes sense but banning all parents seems a bit much. If we're compromising here, I would rather allow one or two parents for each student-athlete than four for just my Seniors.

The students are all going to congregate anyway. I’ve heard they plan on being outside the fence with bullhorns, doing the same thing they would be doing.

I figured that was probably the case if you have good information to confirm this. So now fans will pack each other's houses and watch the webcasts possibly. I could be wrong and more can watch from home by themselves, but I wouldn't be surprised if some didn't have good enough internet and started having secret watch parties. I'm hoping it was true that The Berne Witness was going to have 3 channel feeds for all 3 schools this year. Hopefully they can attend the games to view them. Did any decision come about that?

this is the tweet I saw about the compromise. And how many people are now going to pack the bowling alley? He’s creating worse situations for Covid to spread.

Those seniors are gonna have family be in the stands, those kids are gonna be able to have games... That's what you want right?

Yes, in the end that’s the main thing. The thing is, we don’t have to restrict as much as we are. It’s all apart of the experience, and these kids deserve as much of it as we can give them.

No one is saying they can't play.  We need to have some accountability.  Our kids need to learn about doing what is best for all.  Go to school, WEAR A MASK/KEEP SOCIAL DISTANCE, go to practice, WEAR A MASK (when you can)/KEEP SOCIAL DISTANCE (when you can), go home after practice.  Repeat!  If our kids, teachers, and coaches did that we will be able to play!  Just because the number of fans is being limited shouldn't be a problem, if this is about the kids.  Follow the rules and we can have football.

The kids also want their friends and family there to cheer them on. This move only be if it’s seniors, and uses 4% of home seating capacity. More can be done and still be safe. And what’s dumb is this was the best compromise the ADs could get, Ainsworth fought hard for zero fans.

Just to show how completely idiotic this decision is...

Adams County has a grand total of 81 cases. Total.  In 5 months.  Their current % positive rate is 2.9%.  They have had a grand total of 2 deaths.  One in early April and one in mid July.

Their in-over-his-head health officer for the county, Micheal Ainsworth had this gem of a comment in the story...

The only "light at the end of the tunnel" is a train of stupidity rolling over the top of us that is ruining society.

Thank you! And he said if the rate goes up, they may have to move to no fans. He’s gonna freak out going from 2.9% to 3%? He’s a coward only looking out for his own ass. And one the first Covid death was a guy had a heart attack and happened to also have Covid.

I'd say AC probably has less and hard to say how many Bellmont has out. I was meaning I was surprised it was just senior parents and not a whole varsity roster of 30 to 40 players at max having 2 to 4 parents spread out. Some even sitting in the visitors' bleachers and around the field like playoff games.

That’s what I was getting at, they can fit so many more, especially with empty away bleachers. There was obviously no math done at all to reach this level of fans.

Is that county having bad outbreak?    Was hoping the team I go watch would atleast allow 6 tickets per player.    But 4 is better then no fans.

No, life is pretty much back to normal with a few masks in Adams county. I understand not allowing away fans, cause we do t want to break the bubble we got going with a lot of people from other counties, but only 4 per senior is ridiculous. That’s less than 50 total fans per game.

From the interim Ohio state medical director:

All participants (players, coaches, officials) are to be tested within 72 hours of each game.  Any positive test cancels the game and appears to result in quarantine of all participants.

There’s no way the schools or the organization have the funds to do this.

Has South Adams and Adams Central ever consider to consolidate and became a 2A power?

That would jump the school to 3 or possibly 4A, but I believe that topic has come up from time with no real legs to. That would make for some pretty nasty teams if they could still be a relatively small school.

I could be wrong but I think both Adams Central and South Adams only lose 3-4 total starters on both sides of the ball (Someone from these teams could correct me if I am wrong)  I would predict they get to play twice again next year for another conference and regional title if both take care of business with the rest of their conference schedules and sectionals once again.  Should be another epic game of top 3 teams in the state.

Both only lose a few seniors, but they were impactful. South Adams loses linebackers Grady Sprunger and Nic Stuber, guard Caleb Augsburger, and tackle/de Braden Baumer. Linebacker may be tougher to fill, but South Adams has enough depth to move some guys around. They lose two starters on the oline, but return 5 guys who have played significant varsity oline. As stated earlier, SA brings back the qb and every skill position. The key is how they are going to be able to adjust to AC punching them in the mouth, both in coaching and toughness.

I’m not as familiar with AC, but they do lose Schwaller the Qb and safety, Voirol at de/te, Dalton Gerber at corner and Faurote and Witte(?) I think as a lineman. I think there’s another senior or two in their. They are going to be damn good next year, Heyerly is a certified stud. Watching him wrestle, that kid is not built like most sophomores. Currie is looking like Logan Macklin-lite.

Memorial, ill tell ya those boys play ball. Well coached, great players, great winning tradition these past few years! Our warriors can atest to that too!

Memorial has played far tougher competition and have faced far more established coaches than this EN team has the entire year!

The lack of competition has given EN a free ride to state and will also be the biggest downfall of this team!

Memorial wins this one simply because they have been here, done this, and will do it again!

    EM: 35

    EN: 20

I feel it important to say too, i think 20 for EN is a stretch vs this memorial team!

Hobart fans tried talking trash like this last week and look what happened to them...

James Arnold, South Adams. Threw for over 3,000 yards and 43 TD's. Could drop a penny in a coke can from 40 yards away.

James passing numbers this year are better than any of the career passing leaders in South Adams history. I think Harvard is giving him a look, and seems to have the size and ability of a potential D-1 guy.

AC needs to drain the clock offensively, get to the SA QB over and over (which no one has done) and have the benefit of a terrible weather night....then after that they'd need lighting to strike the field, Medusa to turn them to stone, and a Hurricane named Ditka.

Put some numbers to this, last week Madison Grant held SA to less than 5 minutes of offense in the first half. That yielded 47 points. Arnold has been sacked once this year, and that appeared to be a broken play. As far as weather, looking like a pretty nice night for some football.

  13. My favorites from a few years ago when South Adams upset Woodlan who was ranked number one to end the regular season. They had just lost a few weeks prior to Woodlan 36-3(?) and I didn’t even bother coming back from college to watch that game, I stayed there and watched the webcast. I had the whole dorm rattling I was yelling so much. It was the most inspired football I’ve ever seen, where a team that is outmanned but pulls it out on pure heart and guts.
