Not sure if he's out for the year or what the status is. The game turned once he went down. AC had started to run and control the game. Once he went out the offense stalled and basically was just giving the ball to Heyerly. It went very conservatively as if the Jets shut it down completely to fight another day. I do think SA would win a rematch this time if it occurs due to the weapons they have. However, they probably will be ranked #1, but neither SA or AC played well enough to be a top 3 team this past Friday. Some would say officiating, but SA had way too many penalties and undisciplined football. AC just doesn't have a strong enough defense with all the youth in key spots. The offense still is one dimensional against tough opponents. I'm also concerned with SA's run defense. It was much better in the 2nd half, but then again the Jets went ultra vanilla without Currie then. Monroe Central had a lot of success the week before as well. They(SA) also had some offensive line issues in the first half (due to injury I believe). Lutheran lost in 20T to a 4A school as well that looked to be stronger than any ACAC team. I still put Lutheran as the team to beat after watching AC & SA all season. Don't get me wrong, I want an Adams County school to win it all, but they aren't playing to that level yet. I'm curious as to how well LCC will be. They seem to have COVID issues going on there. If they return a lot from last year, then I think they would be the 1A North favorite until SA gets their issues fixed.
If you rewatch the game and focus on all those penalties, SA probably actually committed less than half of them. Some plays I had to watch every player in the game to see if they moved, and I couldn’t come up with anything justifiable. They called a false start before anyone was even set, and called illegal man down field when the pass was caught behind the los. Those refs were conspiracy level bad, especially when I can point out 2 or 3 plays where AC jumped bad and nothing was called. SA definitely does have a penalty issue, but not to the level of Friday. Possibly the worst reffed game I’ve ever seen.
I would imagine Currie will be back this season, but I don’t know if he can get to full strength. I heard high ankle sprain, which even if playing will slow him down for a while. Would’ve been interesting to see the result with him healthy, but you gotta play with what you got. Which for SA was two former running backs on the line and a center that just started snapping on Tuesday.
And 100% LCC will not be playing long in the tournament due to Covid issues. I don’t know if it spread hard, or the school tests the kids frequently, but I’m pretty sure they’re the only school so far with multiple Covid breaks. I’d be shocked if this didn’t rear its head in the postseason on them.

After the regional game last year, that turned out to be the biggest set up of all time. They gave SA a 10 to 15 yd cushion to pick them apart in the regular season and put up that score. I don't think they'll play that soft this time, but I don't think they will stop SA's pass offense either. I could see 35-21 Starfires or even 28-14 Starfires depending on special teams play as well. If SA has their way though, they'll try putting 70+ on the board.
AC made great adjustments in regional to defend the pass, but it definitely hurt SA not having Drew Stutzman. And Currie can only guard one of Stutzman/Wanner, which made such a big deal in regional. Losing Voirol also hurts, because it was way tougher trying to stop both him and Collier.

South Adams has a lot of talent that could start at any school in the area, but there’s not near as much death. In head to head, SA is probably around 8. I think they could hang with most of the NE8, Columbia City is comparable. But pound for pound, definitely vying for that top spot.

We've talked a lot about it within our staff. There is no teeth to anything the health departments say. We should just ignore it.
That’s a thought I had. What’s the doctor gonna do, sit in the middle of the field and protest?

My trepidations are now CONFIRMED.... Games at all levels will be impacted in the SAC .... 😷
No Brown and Orange for 14 days...
Care to elaborate? You posted this 15 hours ago as a confirmation and I have seen nothing yet regarding any SAC schools.

Michigan City just played Chesterton so are there any concerns about them ?
I wonder if this won’t affect Chesterton because it was a coach, not a player. The coach is the person you would have to be in close contact, and the MC players are close contact, would Chesterton quarantine for being a close contact of a close contact? How many levels of contact tracing goes too far?

Fun topic. I don't know enough teams/players to include the best of the best. But using all-state/all-conference teams, here is what I could come up with for the "all-star small school team"...
QB - Brady Allen (Gibson Southern)
RB - Ryan Walsh (Andrean)
WR - Cannon Melchi (West Lafayette), Noble Johnson (Parke Heritage), Bryant Boggs (Wabash), Drew Stutzman (South Adams)
TE - Jacob Strange (West Washington)
OL - Braden Tucker (Gibson Southern), Joe Strickland (Brebeuf Jesuit), Jaxon Miller (Triton Central), Tristen Hayes (Oak Hill), Dylan Mathena (Tell City)
DL - Antwann Dix (Cardinal Ritter), Mo Omonode (West Lafayette), Blake Ritzert (Mt. Vernon), James Ralph (Evansville Mater Dei)
LB - Lucas Hines (Brownstown Central), Hayden Kermode (Triton Central), Hayden Karlaftis (West Lafayette)
DB - Lane Burns (Eastside), Grant Bell (Sullivan), Isaiah Dalton (Eastbrook), Peyton Wert (Milan)
To answer your question, yes. I think this small school all star team could compete or beat Center Grove. But it would be close.
Add Nick Miller as a DE/TE and then you got something

Both SA and AC have a chance to redeem themselves with SW reschedule late in the year. Will see what they do.
All depends on who cancels. I know if I’m SA, I’m not working too hard to find a replacement on week 9 if they don’t draw the Southern Wells bye first round.

Leo - A... Morresville
South Adams - C ...Cass - would’ve been a good game last year
Adams Central - F .... Fremont - Really?
To be fair, it was easy for AC to pickup Southern Wells’ would be opponent. Not sure what their other options were. And SA picked up Cass before week 1, so I think the assumption would be that they were still decent.

DeKalb has also now CANCELLED! Another 14 day quarantine in place.
Beat me to it Coach
Dekalb cancelled first because they had a player that played in that game with Covid. Sounds like Leo and Garrett will pick each other up. Plus Angola already had an open week 3 anyway, so if this were to happen, at least it’s already on an off week.

And in addition... FREE BELLMONT!!!! Let those boys play.
It’s may be too late to get a game for Friday, but Bellmont is planning on going back to school earlier than planned.

South Adams picked up a game against Lewis Cass for week 2 to replace the Bellmont game

Not to get political, but they're like the Governor. Push it all on the local folks.
Shouldn’t this be a local issue anyway?

In 2016 they had about 35 or so players on the team and in 2017 they had around 49 according to MaxPreps. In 2018, it dropped down to 27 and last year it looks like 25. Major drop-off in just a couple of years. Was there something that happened in the area that would correlate with that kind of quick drop-off like a plant closure or similar?
Those maxpreps numbers are off, it was around 30 in 2017. Part of the reason is there hasn’t been much success lately, and that’s leading to upperclassmen not wanting to play, them having to play too many underclassmen that then get beat up and not want to come back. I’ve also heard some rumors about the coaching being subpar for those years. All of this, plus a declining school size, leads to where they are now.
-
That school is probably a few years from closing, overall numbers are down for the school. They had less than 20 kids come out, and most of them are under developed freshmen.

This will certainly make DT happy.
As much as I hate seeing his consolidation stuff pop up, it really does need to happen at Southern Wells, and for many reasons beyond football.
-
Bellmont cancels first two weeks, so Adams Central week 1 and South Adams week 2 are looking for opponents. They could probably take Southern Wells’ opponents because their season is cancelled due to lack of numbers.

I’m a big fan of digital scout from a fan perspective. I get live in-game stats and can look back at all the games and career totals. No clue how user friendly it is for input.

IHSAA will feel a lot of pressure now, but I believe the IHSAA is hellbent on pressing forward.
Why? The IHSAA doesn’t have to worry about crossing state lines and most conferences kind of have their own Local Bubble. Big Ten canceling is all about liability on the owners, which the liability for high school sports falls on the students, parents, and local medical officers.

Goshen came out with good plan today for fall athletic events. Too bad Adam's didn't have the same common sense.
What was their plan? I don’t see it on their website.

I would like to modify your statement. Generally I am not a blanket “test everybody” person. But if you are, every person should agree then to quarantine/isolate until they get their results.
My understanding is that the above cases (Greenfield, New Pal, and Frankfort teacher) all three were informed of a positive while at school? If results are still pending, DO NOT GO TO SCHOOL until you get them.
I don’t see how that is so hard for people to grasp. It’s not a new problem. I remember back in March people were boarding airline flights with pending tests.
Exactly. I had symptoms on a Sunday, took a test Monday, went back to work on Thursday after I got my negative result back. If you think you have enough to get a test, then act like you have it til proven differently.

Have to think though all of those events include people traveling from all over the country to attend those especially the 500. Keeping hope they’ll let fans in the stands at high school games. If you get approval from local health department you can have more than 250.
Good luck on that lol.

The 250 people include the players, coaches, administrators, workers, and fans. So the teams would have to limit who came to the game to make room for everyone else.
That’s dumb. The people on the field shouldn’t count towards the stands, there should just be a rule to not have interaction. Even then, that’s still probably an extra 80-90 in the stands, could at least fit everyone else’s parents.

I was there and saw it all first hand. Rewatching made it obvious. I don’t normally complain, but it was the worst I’ve ever seen. It was filmed for ref training, so you’ll probably see the film eventually.
