  1. Not too many surprises last night for the NIC. Penn dispatched Elkhart (I'm still bitter NP lost to those guys). MC unsurprisingly throttles Adams. NP goes old school option football to get by the Eagles. St. Joe got a nice W in what looked like an evenly matched game going in. Marian flexing their muscles against a Viking team that learned what it takes to play with the big boys. Only surprise for me was LaVille beating Bremen twice in one season; I know Laville has a nice season going with a stout defense but their offense has been pretty subpar, I figured the Lions would of figured it out and gotten by their old NSC brethren.
  2. Everybody seems to have NP easily over CMA, which I hope comes true. But I think this will be a closer game than most think. NP should win, but CMA is good enough to come out ahead. Their 2 common opponents are complete head scratchers. NP lost to Marian 0-33 while CMA beat the Knights 27-14 but then NP throttles St. Joe 35-0 while CMA squeaked by with a 7-3 win over the Indians. Outside of the Marian game the NP defense has quietly been pretty darn stout (lowest PPG in 4A) so that could prove to be the difference in this one.
  3. Gotta agree that playing it at NP is an equalizer. I think for NP (and for a lot of schools) it is rather intimidating going into granger, seeing all the businesses', huge school, big stadium, massive pep band, all the banners, etc. you are damn near down 14 points before getting off the bus. But with this game played at NP, Penn is nothing more than another football team. A damp natural field could also play a factor in this game, should be a good one in New Carlisle.
  4. Yup, NP needs to get Sinka the ball a lot more. That kid runs hard, he is probably the better back in situations where you need 3 yards; he doesn't dance, he just hits the hole and falls forward every time. The atmosphere 2 years ago was one of the best athletic events of any level I've ever been too, would be cool to replicate it again.
  5. Bowman at Washington - Panthers gotta win this one right? Bremen at Riley - Gonna go with the lions by 3 TDs. Elkhart at Marian - Could be an interesting one, but my head says Marian will win. Penn at New Prairie - Biggest game this week. Penn is trending in the right direction but if NP plays their best game the Cougs will win. Unfortunately, I could see NP not playing to their potential and losing this one. Adams at Jimtown - Eagles with a solid victory. Clay at Glenn - Glenn big. St. Joseph at Culver Academy - CMA takes it to the Indians.
  6. Wow that video really shows how terrible the situation was. Unbelievable.
  7. Not a very intriguing week matchup wise. With Penn bringing it to Marian and Elkhart showing signs of life the East-West division got very interesting.
  8. NP coaching staff must lurk on the GID. Multiple users complained about the lack diversity in their offensive schemes and not getting most of their athletes involved. And what do they do? Mix up the looks like they haven't all season which triggered a South Bend Tribune article titled "Cougars spread the wealth in 35-0 win". Good bounce back win for the Cougs. Unless Penn can stop Marian it looks like the Knights are gonna take the division crown as Elkhart and St. Joe haven't shown that they are capable of stopping Marian.
  9. This exactly. Not only do they need more people involved (which NP has) but the offense is predictable. Will be interesting to see how NP responds going forward but I hope they can figure it out. They have the talent to have a championship caliber team. If they fall short there will be some serious questions regarding the head coach.
  10. Marian wins 33-0. Talk about embarrassing, not so much that Marian won; but the way they did it. The last 7 quarters have been won by NPs opponents and they're offense (despite having the states leading rusher) lacks creativity, deception, and is completely predictable. Hell, the other teams defense is firing off the ball because the snap is so consistent. It's unfortunate because NP has about 5 true weapons on offense but they choose to only use 1 with absolutely no threat to do anything out of the box. Kudos to Marian for dominating in all phases and physically out manning NP in every way, last time the cougars were shut out was almost exactly 10 years ago.
  11. I don't know whats worse for South Bend football. Clay going 0-10 or Clay beating another SB team. Seriously though, if Riley loses to the Colonials the alarm bells better be going off on the south side. I do wonder what happened to the Riley program, they seemed to be on good footing 3-4 years ago when Edison was in charge. Was it a couple good players? Edison a perfect coach for them?
  12. Does anybody have any insight on why Radtke isn't performing at Knox like he had at North Judson, NP or Griffith? I know Knox had huge expectations last year that didn't come to fruition. And from the looks/sounds of it, this year doesn't seem like they are good at all. At NP he raised expectation instantly (I'll admit that NP had a solid foundation to build with) but it's crazy to think of some of the stats the cougars would of had if the old NSC would of stayed intact during Radtke's entire tenure. But I'm just curious why Knox just can't seem to get it going, Knox has had a history of underperforming on the gridiron but I would of surely thought RR would of changed the mindset in Redskin Land. They have the enrollment, facilities, and is a community based school that Russ has thrived at his entire career. Its just odd to me.
  13. Hammond Central at Clay - 2 bad teams, but I can't imagine someone worse than Clay. Central by 4 TDs. Hammond Morton at Elkhart - Giving EH some much deserved respect (that one is for you Caveman Souki). Sarcasm aside I think the lions get the W in this one. Jimtown at Osceola Grace - Jimtown can't lose this one right? I know scheduling an OOC game on week 3 is tough but it looks like other schools are getting it done. Maybe the Jimmies need to start looking west for a better matchup. Glenn at St. Joseph - I think Glenn gets by the Indians to earn some "small school" respect. Lowell at New Prairie - I'm gonna give NP the edge in this one. But region football is always tough. I love this matchup and think it will be a good game in New Carlisle. Marian at Bremen - Can the small schools get 2 wins vs the big boys? maybe. This is a toss up but my head says Marian wins it late in the 4th. Penn at Cathedral - 0-3 is inevitable for the Kingsmen. This is more about the eye test and getting ready for the NIC. Riley at Adams - Adams wins this intercity matchup. Washington at Kankakee Valley - This is one of those games where no outcome would surprise me. But I'm leaning towards the Kougars have a 2 TD victory.
  14. Bremen at Washington - Nice bounce back win for Bremen. Culver Academy at Marian - CMA could be better than advertised but I think Marian had too high of expectations coming into this season. Elkhart at Mishawaka - Caveman Souki; I'm waiting for your take. Jimtown at Concord - This game seems to be a close one every single year. but Jimtown with 6 points through 2 games is very concerning. LaPorte at Penn - Yeoman on the hot seat? After seeing Laporte get beat up last week and then get the W last night, I have a lot of questions about the granger boys. Adams at Fairfield - Tough to gauge these two teams after these first couple weeks. Clay at Goshen - Its hard for me to comprehend how out of hand this game was. Riley at Glenn - looks like another long season on the Southside. Glenn might be challenging in the north south this year. St. Joseph at Northridge - the same St. Joe as the last 4+ years? Northridge does appear to have a nice squad this season. Twin Lakes at New Prairie - NPs gotta clean up the dumb penalties if they want to win a championship this year. Next week will be a fun one with the reddevils coming to town.
  15. 52-3 NP wins. Cougars with about 200+ yards in penalties. If they can clean up the sloppiness they are going to be a tough out the entire year. Next week for Lowell should be a good one.
  16. 48-0 Goshen beating Clay AT THE END OF THE 1ST QUARTER...
  17. The mans elevator doesn't go to the top floor. keep in mind this is my original post that he thought was overly disrespectful: "Elkhart vs Mishawaka: The Cavemen have a way staying in ANY game with their offense. If Elkhart was full strength I'd give them the slight edge. But with the blows EH has taken this season already, Cavemen walk away with a W.". I don't know what he is talking about half the time and the other half I wish I didn't.
  18. Take it easy bud. Did I say they were "primed to run over Elkhart"? No. I said with EH not at full strength I'm going to take the cavemen. And quite honestly even before the injuries, Elkhart was replacing 19 starters including a handful of D1 talent which warrants hesitancy picking them at the beginning of the season. I'm sorry but Mishawaka has way more "knowns" than your Lions at this point. You guys have A LOT to prove this year before I crown your asses.
  19. Bremen vs Washington: losing to laville is never a good sign when competing in the NIC. Gotta go with the 1-0 team in this one but I can see any outcome. CMA vs Marian: While down compared to last year, still think Marian pulls off this one. Should be a good game. Elkhart vs Mishawaka: The Cavemen have a way staying in ANY game with their offense. If Elkhart was full strength I'd give them the slight edge. But with the blows EH has taken this season already, Cavemen walk away with a W. Concord vs Jimtown: Green guys beat Maroon guys pretty easily. LaPorte vs Penn: NP took it to Laporte. If Penn loses this game the wheels have officially fallen off in Granger. Adams vs Fairfield: Is there a more overrated coach than Jones? Eagles will win this one but their week 1 showing raises questions going forward. Clay vs Goshen: I knew Clay would be bad, but that week 1 score is just embarrassing. Goshen soaring at 2-0 at the end of this running clock game. Riley vs Glenn: Riley football has seemed to taken some steps back the last 3-4 years. Glenn might be starting to get an identity and throwing some consistently solid teams on the field. St. Joe vs Northridge: NLC might to a 4-0 sweep this Friday. Northridge looks like a darkhorse to ruin some Friday nights this season. They win this game by 3 TDs+ Twin Lake vs New Prairie: I was a little hesitant on NP this year with their 2nd year coach. But man did NP look good against Laporte. game was not nearly as close as the score indicated. The RB did 90% of the damage on offense but it seemed like everyone that touched the ball is capable of making plays going forward. Could be another fun season in New Carlisle.
  20. 'DTs Contraction Conference" Terre Haute High (Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South) South Bend High (Clay, Washington, Riley, Adams) Lake Point High (Crown Point, Lake Central) Chicagoland High (Munster, East Chicago Central, Gary West) Yesteryear High (Penn, Ben Davis, Warren Central, Merrillville) Hopefully one of those teams could make it out of sectionals
  21. I second this. The coldest I've EVER been. Watching Harnish run wild didn't warm me up either.
  22. South Bend Adams playing for a sectional championship without ever snapping the ball. Cant wait to hear how coach Jones is looking to "build" off of his sectional championship appearance when the 2021 season rolls around...
  23. Top of the NIC is better than the top of the NLC; and that was proven on the field. NPs 5 wins were against decent competition; nothing notable. I have to agree with you on the rest of your statements. NP was in the weakest sectional they've probably ever been in and completely shit the bed. They were just plain soft. I really have to question some of the coaching going into this game/sectional. Why in the world would you start a freshman quarterback for the first time??? If it's week 4 or 5 I get, but first round of the sectionals when you are the favorites and you've already beaten 3 teams in that sectional???? come on.
  24. St. Joe - Indians got probably the best draw in the state. An easy path to the championship where they will likely play a team that they could potentially beat if they play their best and their opponent has an "off" night Logansport - Don't really know much of anything about the Berries. But I think they beat Riley New Prairie - This game scares me probably more than it should. NP is a tough team to gauge; with a 5-4 record they've beaten 5 decent to bad teams and lost to 4 top tier teams. Plymouth hasn't played in forever; either they will be inspired or rusty. I also wonder if they lost any players between the quarantine and just not playing for 3 weeks. weird season for the rockies. Marian - A cake walk for the knights Tippy Valley - I think the vikings do just enough to escape with a W Jimtown - Baugo boys win it West noble - Glenn has really fizzled down the stretch. Bremen - Lions take care of the Zebras with ease.
