Not sure of the rule.  if players A gets kicked out the game, and his teams loses does the penalty of not playing in the next game care over to a different sport or even to next year if he is not a senior?

Yes it does.  This is education/based athletics.

You do the "crime"  You do the "time"....  but other sports are played at a faster pace, so the penalty is less severe!

Had one like this last year in the Harrison-Kokomo game, except it was a crossfield kick.  Harrison kicker lined up on right hash, kicked the ball all the way, sky-kick fashion, to opponent's 45 or so on the opposite side of the field about 2-3 yards from the sideline.  Perfect kick ... right into the arms of Harrison's gunner.  Everyone in the stands went nuts thinking it was Harrison's ball on a perfectly executed crossfield kick ... I just shook my head because I knew what was coming.  Not only was it Kokomo's ball, but with the additional 15 yard penalty tacked on since the gunner caught it in the air before it touched the receiving team or the ground.  It was a shame because it really did look well-executed except for that little nugget on kickoffs with the sky-kick component.

Exactly what I had last night!

Considering Warsaw has dominated that rivalry over the course of history (and prior to this year had won the last 8 meetings by a combined score of 312 - 85, an average score of 39-11) AND the Tigers were fresh off their two BIGGEST games (NorthWood and Mishawaka) - NO, I am not suprised at all that the Tigers were flat. A lot of energy went into the previous two weeks opponents, and then playing a team who was 1-5 on the season and they've crushed for as long as these kids were in elementary school. Happens to teams all the time.

And, in my opinion, Warsaw-Wawasee is a bit of a "forced" rivalry because of them sharing the same county. Plymouth has always felt more like a spirited rival to me personally, whereas Wawasee was the neighborhood friend you liked to beat in a game of one-on-one in the driveway type thing.

Ala: Snider/Northrop sharing the same stadium, with regards to FB.  In other sports, much more of a 'true' rivalry.

That Penn matchup just reeks of a GREAT HS Football game coming up this week!  Northern Indiana FB, cooler weather, coaches wearing shorts for no reason at all.

  4. I had a KO (not grounded) by K, caught in the air by K, tonight which was adjudicated as Kick Catch Interference without an R player within the perview of anything...

After stepping off an additional 15 yards for the penalty....As it should be interpreted.as a "fair catch" by R... then penalized.

I almost felt like I needed security to even give the proper signal.   Ugh...

I’m not comparing districts smartass. But you knew that. I made the comparison between East St Louis High School and Arsenal Tech, two inner-city schools with identical demographics and socio-economic status.

If you’ve followed any of Temp’s diatribes on this subject over the years, a school like ESL should never be able to succeed (low enrollment/high f/r/l program) given those two factors.

No need to announce your presence as the smartest guy in the room, just hit submit reply.

ESL is its OWN system... get with the program!

Just had to go with immature comment, huh?

Again. Perhaps learn something prior to a comparison with a totally independent School district than that which is a part of a much larger one, to try and make your point.

And at No time would I ever make myself "the smartest guy on the room".     BUT perhaps the most informed.

It's not a ridiculous comparison. It's an impoverished area with similar demographics to that of the Tech High School makeup who excels in many sports despite that fact. Temp has told us for years that if you have an 80-90% f/r lunch rate and aren't in the top half of your classification enrollment, you have no chance of succeeding athletically. ESL is a singular example that completely contradicts this narrative on top of the many examples I have provided in the past.

As a STL born and bred person...  How about you take some time and LEARN something?

Tech is perhaps more like University City (MO), or Ritenour (MO), or Saint Louis Sumner?

Is that not what IPS has done over the years? Shutdown multiple high schools to consolidate down towards one bigger high school?

And IPS is 6x larger than ESLD, not sure you know what you're talking about.

Not even close to the ESL situation...  Perhaps you don't realize as ridiculous of a comparison to Tech you raised?

I've never used the word dominant, EVER, when describing a possible future for a program like Tech. More like "better" or "more competitive". Again you're reaching.

It can stretch to whatever necessary measure. If East St. Louis can put together a nationally rated football program, Tech certainly can win 6 or 7 games once in a blue moon. One school district tries, the other doesn't.

Nick Saban didn't win anything until he went to LSU, you know a school with a proud tradition who is all-in.

The East Saint Louis Athletic program in NO WAY can even be compared to that of Tech.

ESL McKinley and ESL Lincoln closed within that district years ago and THAT gave them a multitude of athletic ability that was able to be tapped into.  It was a self-sustaining situation.

Add that to the legacy of the Women's (and Men's) Track and Field programs, the Basketball programs (including ESL Lincoln);  How is a HS withing a a LARGER ISP District (Tech) even on par, or could even be compared?

Clearly (the) ESL Flyers have taken pride in their athletic programs, so much so, that kids OUTSIDE of their district (and Illinois) transfer there to participate in their activities.   Big time difference!

Elkhart (3-6) at Penn (8-1) - Game is closer than it should be, but Penn gets a methodical 3 or 4 touchdown win over the Lions.

Concord (5-4) at Adams (1-8) - Concord rolls past the flailing eagles.

New Prairie (8-2) at Kankakee Valley (5-5) - Everything points to a Cougar win here. Tough though to gauge the intangibles after a dominating victory over what many considered the sectional championship last week. Do they come out flat? Does KV play out of their minds? these are 16-18 year olds so you never know. Hopefully the "C"ougars roll though as they should.

Washington (3-7) at NorthWood (8-2) - Running clock

Fairfield (6-4) at Glenn (6-4) - This one seems like a toss-up any which way you look at it. Would be good for the JG program though to get the sectional championship

Wheeler (6-3) at Bremen (5-5) - Another tight contest. I'm thinking the Bearcats get it done though

I.was impressed by Fairfield's scheme.  Haven't officiated them in a while, but it was a triple option..mostly approach that was effective .

The yelling JT Dad not withstanding, being completely unaware of wonderful clean game on BOTH sides.

    Good luck to both schools!

Not sure about this one..losing their leading tackler/fullback may hurt them..

Were players for the Generals hurt?  I had a guy at work just BITCH to high heaven about the players on the field last Friday for them..

Said that Haydock didn't even try until the 4th quarter.

I wasn't there, so I have no idea.

    SECTIONAL 19
      Sect Class Overall
    Fort Wayne Wayne 1-  0 2-  0 5-  3
    East Noble 2-  1 4-  1 6-  2
    New Haven 2-  1 3-  1 7-  1
    Leo 2-  1 4-  2 6-  2
    DeKalb 1-  2 2-  3 5-  3
    Fort Wayne Dwenger 0-  0 0-  0 3-  5
    Fort Wayne South 0-  1 0-  3 1-  7
    Angola 0-  2 0-  2 1-  7

Man, what a bruiser of a sectional.  3 top ten teams in the 4A polls, plus Dwenger and Wayne who slug it out in the SAC.  Who do you guys got in this one?  I'll always go with my Knights but man did they get probably the worst draw out of everyone.  @ New Haven to prove last week was no fluke, then @ Leo which is always a slugfest.  All to earn the chance for one more home game against probably Dewnger.  What y'all think?

Unless Wayne wins the upper bracket...  That is entirely possible, IMO.

Wasn't suggesting they could. Although they did handle Moeller easier (at least based on score) than CG...

I have no dog in this situation.  But a ONE OFF game is possible for anyone to win, if they are formidable enough.

Now go run a 6 game gauntlet in 6A and then we could talk. There's a lot more to 6A than CG.

I don't see any 6A ball, but EC last year was probably the best HS football team I've seen in person.

Having seen (as I tend do each season) a cross section of ALL classes within IHSAA FB.  Trust me, EC may be the best in 4A (perhaps 5A also)....  But they ain't winning in 6A, no way, no how!

6A is a totally different animal than which you have made yourself privy to.

Most likely, Snider will be playing at Mishawaka as their first 2 games should be at home. That Cavemen offense is not easy to defend and that would be a big challenge for the Panthers to win at Mishawaka

The field will be chopped up.  I almost suggest to find the absolute worst in the Summit City to practice on...  oh wait. That's located right there on Reed Rd.   😃

Sectional time, Snider’s gets a bad Anderson team and then would play North Side. After that, likely Mishawaka in Regionals and then either Valparaiso or Merrillville in Semi-State. Pretty straight path to state, think regionals could be challenging as Mishawaka is not easy to defend and then semi-state would be a battle for sure. Thoughts?

Had Mishawaka this past week.  They are formidable, especially if the Panthers have to go to Steele Field.

Have Anderson this week.   That's a big tell, sorry.

Good luck.  1 and done for everyone
