I will say that there are problems at the corner of Washington Center and Clinton fir the Saints. I don’t see this turning around anytime soon either. I am starting to believe that the SAC is going to be revolving around Carroll, Snider, and Homestead for the next several years

It's been trending THAT way for a few years.  The occasional 'outlier' pops up and makes things tricky....  Washington Center/Clinton and over on State Street.

I'll continue to suggest, that in order for their to be any sort 'competitiveness' for the BIG boys....  A FOOTBALL ONLY fall conference is the way to go.

Perhaps 5-7 teams scattered over Northern/Central Indiana, allowing 2 or 3 weeks of out of conference games to continue traditional rivalries.  This also could encompass a team or 2 in the current NE8 perhaps.

I don't think this so farfetched;  In that there are currently 2 schools that AREN'T 'actually' members of the SAC in any traditional sense.  They could bolt anytime they want in the 'money' sports for all intents and purposes.

If you've proven that you are more than competitive in the SAC after being forced out of the NEIAC...and told that you you would NOT be a factor in the SAC.....Well, that didn't age well, did it?  So why not try to seek better horizons?

my take aways from college games..... IF YOURE NOT GOING TO WEAR A MOUTHPIECE THEN JUST TAKE IT OFF THE MASK.    just flopping around is dumb and yes I am old man yelling at a cloud.......lets not even get started with the "game pants".   I mean "shorts"

    amirite @Bobref @JustRules @Impartial_Observer @Yuccaguy

If you SEMI-PRO Knuckleheads at the Collegiate level are gonna get paid also...  Just get with the program and play with NFL Rules.  Do and wear/don't wear whatever the hell you want!

It's also bad enough most "skilled" players are now basically wearing shorts also.  (mentioned earlier)....  Eye shields all over the place.  I'm now waiting for Oakley to come up an eye shield that has logos and/or pictures on them.  It's coming soon.

Do yall have any idea of the crap that I have to put up with at the HS level because of this idiocy?

  3. I had a HS student the other night complement me at a MIDDLE SCHOOL game on my officiating.  (No comment on what I was doing there

    But the larger point is.

He said he'd like to become an official.  Then asked.  "What do I do take a couple of classes?"....

I tried as best as possible to speak with him, (since I was the LJ this evening) about the art of officiating.  But it seems that no one understands that just like PLAYING the game, we ALL must practice/practice/practice to become better;  This is NOT a hobby!  It is much more than that.

    UGH!   🤔

Carroll-South Side...Carroll's OL has looked rough the first two week, get an easier matchup this week to hopefully get things straightened out....Chargers by 28

Luers-Northrop...rough start for both teams, the New Haven Bulldog blowout transitive property gives Luers the edge here...Knights by 7

North Side-Dwenger...most interesting matchup of the week for sure. Time to see what this Dwenger team really may be while not facing a powerhouse. Will Tae play? Will it matter? Legends swagger attitude is a tough sell when you can't win games....Saints by 3

Snider-Concordia...Cadets showed some good offense last week, won't be as fortunate this week...Panthers by 30

Homestead-Wayne...credit to Wayne for being 2-0 taking care of business, serious question has Wayne ever beaten Homestead? I'm sure they don't have a ton of historical meetings. But being so confused by the difference between Week 1 vs Week 2 Spartans has me rooting for Wayne here...Generals by 1

    Wayne beat Homestead in 1992.

Get over yourself, you got East Noble 3rd, I got ‘em 4th, who cares. You would have a point if I said East Noble would be the worst team in the conference, I clearly didn’t. Heck, maybe Homestead is better than East Noble as well, not sure. Is Homestead the team that lost to Carmel 14-7 or are they the team that lost to Noblesville 42-0??

Glad this is a BLOG.... tough guy.  Opinions are like, well ya know.  Perhaps you should:

Ok, Snider and Carroll are clearly better than East Noble, I would say North Side is as well with a full team, so East Noble slots in at 4th, which is what I said

So YOU think East Noble is 'less than' Northridge?  No matter the issues that the Legends are currently going through....

I knew the behind or on the previous spot rule for this year. These all occurred past the line of scrimmage. One time 30 yards past the line of scrimmage.

Then that MAY have been assesed incorrectly.  If you have video... please share.

Sounds like spot foul assessments....or perhaps end of run/kick.

I can't say much more without more information to make an accurate account of what was done.

Snider in beast mode again up 45-21 with 5 minutes to go. I knew they had way too much for East Noble, who is actually a good team. They probably finish 4th or 5th this year in the SAC if they were in our conference.

Why is the downgrading of the 'better' teams in the NE8 ALWAYS on full display when it comes to the SAC?

The NE8 is a formidable conference that has ebbs and flows, but to think that East Noble would be a middling SAC team is preposterous!  Clearly they would win the SAC "small" division.  And in the big division... perhaps 3 or 4.  They stack up well against Bishop Dwenger.  As as for THAT scenario....well we can find out about Leo/East Noble v. BD THIS year in the playoffs.

Currently watching a game. Not going to say where. They have assessed every single penalty from the previous line of scrimmage. Not from the spot of the foul, on fouls that have typically been called spot fouls in the past. Has something changed that I'm not aware of.

Where did the FOUL(s) occur?  And YES there has been a change in the assessment of offensive penalties beginning THIS season.

If an offensive foul occurs in or behind the previous spot.... the penalty is assessed from the previous spot, NOT at the spot of the foul.  This does NOT include intentional grounding though.  That is still a 5 yard spot foul with a loss of down.

I am sure that Bob will expound upon this...  But this a quick response late night.

No disrespect to the Knights, but picking them over Snider after what the Panthers did to Warren last week is pure lunacy.

    @BTF

Sorry, but I must concur.  Not so fast with a "Panther collapse".  It may be close, but this is more of a 'tell' about EN, than it should be about R. Nelson Snider.

I thought Snider, Homestead, and Carroll showed potential. On the fence with Wayne. The other six didn't impress.

North Side gets a 'pass'  IMO.  2 significant injuries to their team, may have had an impact.  Now, in NO WAY should Northridge be concerned about that situation....the Raiders came to play!  Won the contest, and no matter the reason(s)....

As Parcells said: "You ARE what your record says you are!"  The Raiders are 1-0...no matter how/why they got there.

Luers is Luers...talk at the end of the season.   The Knights should be around in 2A.

Not so sure about the Saints.  We'll see how they regroup.

All in all, the SAC kept some of the potential 'blowouts' close.  That should be taken into account as they have stepped up their non-conference schedules.  This is what we have been demanding for years.

    Ok.  Time to OUT myself!

There wasn't a damned thing that we could do as officials to temper the situation

That also applies to the Head Coaches involved.  (I have a problem with ONE Assistant  .. but I'll keep that to myself).

I have forwarded suggestions to others as to how to mitigate the problems in the ensuing years.  Hopefully these suggestions will be considered

We, hopefully realize that the players were not necessarily the 'true' representation of Indiana All-Stars in many cases.   But the majority of them were there to be given a fair assessment of the ability to allow them to perform at the next level

Sadly,  a few knuckleheads thought this was their star moment to focus on them.  I am sure that scouts/schools decided....NO it's not worth the effort.

I'm sure that some have a MAJOR response as to what they/wouldn't do....  but I'm totally 'Scott' convinced that I've been there done that at levels that I expect to be, always!  You may never be....

Let's learn, move beyond this incident.  Time to make changes and adapt.

FYI... both Eric and Bud were absolutely wonderful in their management and understanding of the situation.   I  have nothing but the utmost respect for both of them!!!!

My issue was with one Assistant Coach who believed this was his "Lombardi moment"...

Not necessarily implying that it hurts you. I just know there are many on here who don't want to hear that it's on the coaches......especially the coaches.  I just happen to think that's the best starting point, the leader of the team. Can't hardly pin it on the refs.

The refs....SAVED the situation from devolving into a total fight.

Seriously?  Testosterone with Assistant Coaches and plyers nay have been an issue.

2024 is now what's to be looked forward to

  15. Wow,

This thing has taken off into a full-blown blog of ridiculousness!

We have posters saying they are coaches, but in reality are officials, acting "scott-free" with what they would or would not have done.

Guys, not aware of the nature of ANY "All-Star game" and the looser nature of allowing participants to 'enjoy' themselves during the situation.  I've never seen an All-Star contest officiated or conducted as a regular season game in ANY sport.

Question:  Who's the governing body that could or would hand out sanctions to a player or coach in this situation?  Oh, right NONE!

Has anyone ever considered that those who tended to make fools of themselves, just cost themselves the very opportunity to play at the next level by their actions last evening?  I'm pretty sure that there was a myriad of scouts/coaches there from various institutions that took notes on the behaviors as well as the in-game abilities of some.

Then made a simple determination....It ain't worth the trouble.

No, mentioned more so because everyone in the conference but Southern Wells would have it if the plans go through. I know the ACAC & Southern Wells relationship has been better prior than it currently is. Out of all the schools, Southern Wells would benefit the most from turf after the field issues they had before. I was pretty shocked AC even considered it, let a lone had drawing & designs. I could think of more avenues that grant $ could go to compared to a turf field in Monroe. Parking lots for sure, especially if that meant buying more ground. Being tied to Adams Central & Adams County 4H the biggest mistake was the 4H fairgrounds not moving when Don Ray was offering to donate the land to move it. Guessing the current location butting up to AC to the east was donated too. The school could definitely use that land for parking & fair could have used the larger piece of land that was proposed. Another factor is Best One of Monroe/Zurcher Tire uses the fairgrounds for storage as well & having a new expo hall built.

Honestly, AC has one of the VERY BEST turf fields in NE Indiana.  I'd have ranked it right there with Carroll (who's switched to field turf).

I have no issue with AC keeping a grass field!!!   The issue will/could be it getting chewed up by a rainy fall season that comprises all of the FB teams from Middle School through Varsity HS.  It's an occurrence that so far hasn't been an issue with AC....
