  1. I am not about to say anything about R. Nelson Snider and how they approach their schemes....

But as an official, I've had numerous games where I just have sat back and wondered "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?".

I had a Semi-State a couple of years ago, where the ENTIRE 1st half was all about the 'QB" trying to run and do his thing.  The game was 'strangely' not out of hand as we began the 2nd half.  Apparently someone got into the HC's ear and said PASS THE BALL!

At that point they just ate up the defense.  But the clock was ticking away as the other squad ran/ran/ran when they got possession.

Ya know sometimes would like to just yell over to the sideline and TELL them what they should be doing.

    But I'm not a "fan".

    Tried editing my last post..................

That link doesn't show anything. I did, however, find a video that showed the actual tasing. Abuse of power. I agree, he could have been wrapped up. I think the band director could have handled the situation in a MUCH better way, but didn't deserve to be tased.

Now, looking at it from a cops point of view. Should a cop have to engage in a physical altercation? Tasing does seem easier. Doing what the cop says just seems to be the better decision in my opinion.

Agreed.  Which is why this one is a conundrum.

The tasing is unwarranted, no question about that.  Just wrap him up.and escort him out.

Also, at the point of a confrontation... the BD should, as an educated man.  Been aware of the nature of his inaction and just stopped the band.  At that point he could have later sought a change in policies.

At this point.  The change will be simple!  Game over...everything is over.

I feel like I have heard an opposite story from other officials.  The head coach ASKED for a flag post-halftime so he justify his complaint to the AD about the band.  Presumably there was a personal beef between the HC and Band Director.  Which wouldn't be the first time.

    Been there, done that.

Not to give anything away.  But it was a "Big Orange Band"...

HILARIOUS when the HC lost his mind, and the AD was there to get all up in the BD's butt also.

I just did what was asked of me.....  🤣

Is there a video somewhere? How do we know if the cop was in the right or the wrong?

They had the lights turned off....

He kept conducting (smugly).   They didn't need to taste him...  Just wrap him up, and remove him from the premises.

Would have saved the taxpayers the money that is sure to come from the impending lawsuit, and alleged violation of his rights.

There was in place a NO 5th quarter situation with the bands playing.  He was well aware of this, as well as the home school's BD.

  5. Overall, BOTH the Band Director and the Cops were in the wrong!

BD should have ended the music (as the home team did).  It was told to the schools that a 5th quarter of playing was prohibited by the school ...and I assume conference.

Then let's factor in the 'safety' concerns of having children there AFTER the crowd has exited the stadium.  Not a good idea in any way/shape/fashion or form.

Far too many 'outsiders'....I am hesitant to say perhaps Adults.  Get caught up in the rapture of the festivities, and cannot make a delineation in the atmoshpere of what is supposed to be an educationally activity.... HS Sports!

Band rivalries are the same as on field play, and they cannot see the differences. So to this situation, I say.  Shame on EVERYONE!

I can't and won't support the BD.  AND I damned sure won't support the Cops' in their actions to remove the BD.  Just wrap his ass up and relocate him; Don't tase him.

    Time to move on.

This was the last play of the game. Ruled a TD on the field, giving the Shamrocks the win. Some observations. But first the video.

    https://www.facebook.com/519402118/videos/241631878410858/

I know there are better videos out there than this. Anyone got links to more video?

There are 2 questions here that have to be answered in order to rule properly on this very difficult play.

    1.  Where is the forward progress spot? But in order to rule on that, we have to know:

    2.  When did the receiver possess the ball?

This is an airborne receiver. When an airborne player makes a catch, his forward progress is the furthest point of advancement after he possesses the ball if contacted by a defender. So, we need to determine when the receiver “possessed” the ball. He possesses the ball when he has caught it. A “catch” occurs when an airborne ball is possessed and the player first contacts the ground inbounds while maintaining control of the ball.

What all this means is that in this play the receiver does complete the catch, as he is moving from the end zone toward the field of play. Therefore, the forward progress spot is the point where the ball was at the time the receiver, while holding the ball, was contacted by the defender. You decide for yourself where that was - if you think you can from the video.

I'm not at all sure what the ruling was.  But this is NOT a TD!

Guessing that the "blue area" is the end zone....

Like you, I need a better video to understand the situation and the call that followed.

Saying it now, the gap in the SAC after Snider and Carroll will continue to widen over the next several years. It is pretty big now, it will only get bigger. People need to quit holding out hope that Dwenger, Luers, North Side, or Homestead will put themselves back in the picture soon.

I am not putting HHS out of the picture.  They have some fantastic kids in their (3) Middle School/feeder programs as of now.

Should those kids stay in SACS;  I am NOT counting them out on any level to be 1 or 2 in the currently constructed SAC.

Would it be fair to refer to the Bulldogs as Fort Wayne New Haven since half the players are from Fort Wayne?

Only when the SAC reconfigures after the NE8 gets tired of getting it handed to them by the Bulldogs in a few seasons.

I can think of another "purple" EACS school that also may fit that bill soon with the NE8.

    Welcome:  Angola to the NE7?

Not sure, Homestead has been all over the place, losing 42-0 to Noblesville and playing Carmel to the wire 14-7. They got hammered by Carroll and they play Snider next week so we shall see. Make no mistake, Dwenger is a mess right now and the natives are very restless…

    bump my earlier comments.

Not a mess.  Just a work in progress?

  10. Remember. we are EQUATING most High School fields to that of Collegiate and Professional fields.

At the HS level "Cletus and his friends" are probably maintaining the turf.  Let's be serious people!

I'll agree at many Collegiate, and EVERY Professional level, a grass surface would be maintained at a level that none other could achieve.

We are comparing apples and nuclear bombs!

Bonecrusher gave a pretty good explanation. It's used for the Freshman and JV home games. It's also the current home to Blackhawk Christian's new football program. Blackhawk sits inside the Snider school district about 6 or 7 minutes away. When FWCS's built Northrop and Wayne High School's back in the late 60's, they built two very nice duplicate stadiums on the campuses. Both stadiums were meant to be shared. Northrop and Snider. Wayne and South Side. South Side had a nice stadium built for them, I want to say 25 years ago, when they underwent a multi million dollar upgrade. So that leaves Snider, the highest income generating athletic producer in Fort Wayne, as the only school in the city without their own stadium. There's actually a very large piece of property across the street from Snider that is owned by FWCS. I don't see any reason why they couldn't build a stadium there. I'm not sure it really matters. Snider has gotten on a bus for their home football games for over five decades, so it's really just another day at the office for them. Plus they draw a good crowd at those games, so I don't know what incentive FWCS has to give Snider their own stadium. But they did give one to South Side, a school that draws about 1/20th the crowd that Snider draws, so I guess we'll just see what the future holds.

Let's see what happens to the land that sits next to Lane Middle School (and the soon to be empty Fire Station) across the street.

**Just a thought as it relates to R. Nelson Snider HS and having a unique FB Stadium.

    interesting timeline............

    https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/local/michigan/2023/09/12/a-timeline-of-events-that-led-to-title-ix-complaint-suspension-of-michigan-state-football-mel-tucker/70825789007/

The 36 min phone call at 12:39am on April 28th, 2022 is interesting.  Not only Tucker's "self-pleasure" actions, but why would anyone pick up the phone at that time and then converse for that long?

The actual complaint filed Dec 2022?

    Just a question?

When was the $95 Million contract extension offered/signed by Tucker?

April 2022 - December 2022??  Large timeframe taken to process filing a complaint.

Carroll being good has very little to do with Dwenger’s slide.  There are enough players for Dwenger to have competed with its first 2 opponents and they could have beaten Carroll.  Every time? No but 1 of 5.  The staff finds ways to put the team in a bad spot.  For example going for it on 4th and 15 on own 15.  Or in 2020 against Zionsville going for it on 4th and 3 on own 39 with 1 min left in 3rd up 20-6.  Momentum shift that cost us the game. Or not playing their best in 2019 in semi state until a few injuries or not playing several key players in 2121 on offense or not using the running back they did use in 2121 often enough.  Ie) Carroll and HHS and Snider housed us and he was only used in 1 series.  And they had 3 guys in D at least as good.  Or not letting Skarie play much D last year after being All Sac as Jr or playing a coaches son or nephew  who has no business playing and I mean NO BUSINESS (2019 O Line) this year first 2 games at Safety, many Tippmann’s who are at running back(we had zero play there and all of the sudden 2 brothers were very good at that spot(still not best option save for you gets SR year) and now we HAVE to have one playing there?  Or NEVER giving outmatched corners help because our Cb could cover in the CYO supposedly.
I could go on and on and on and on.  It’s very difficult to watch.
To answer your question about HHS, no it would t matter because this coach will do things like this, he will play the right guys when his backs against the wall and the kids make plays when given the chance.  For example, Snider in the playoffs in 2021. That Saints team was very good and finished 7-5.  Pathetic.
And they won’t beat HHS. But if we do, that makes us 5-4 again in regular season at best.  Yank yank. Don’t undersell Luers either, they will get better while our coaches will be trying to divvy up stats to we can sell the “ team concept”.  And we will never find a rhythm.

Let's hope the best for the Saints.

Always good to have them on the state's 'radar' when playoff time comes.

I am just stating the facts. I love Dwenger.  But it’s a lot closer to being  an ehhh type of team.  The wrong power broker in charge.  They don’t know anything about athletics and the powers that be are beholden to them.   And the worst part about it is they have know clue as to what they don’t know.

So should BDHS defeat HHS next week...  would that 'temper' a bit of the situation?

I have no 'dog' in this situation...  just merely navigating the current state of affairs on Washington Center and Clinton.

And yes...to your concern.  It is a bit different at this point.  But then again, so are the Carroll Chargers as it relates to one of your implications on the state of affairs.

You are aware that the head chief demoted his OC a couple years back but forgot to inform the general public he was calling plays and setting personnel?
the coach let go, or demoted, was doing a great job, the kids loved him and so did the students at the school.  He actually did care about the kids.  It was about making them better as opposed to himself.  You know the way one J Fred Tone used to.  I guess after he left, there was “Sudden Change”.

It’s Probably because the entire school is run by people who are seeking the destination of the job for their own personal satisfaction as opposed to it being a calling to help our youth.  There are good teachers and staff and a few coaches that are good but overall anyone hired anymore seems to be just another cog in the protect each other machine and the we are always right and know better than you machine.
There isn’t any self reflection with any of the major sports at Bd on the boys side and very few on the girls.  We used to take pride in greatness and working harder and achieving more.  We used to applaud taking on challenges.  Now our coaches expect to win and have the kids do it for them.  They don’t teach the sport like they used to and if a good one comes in, they’re run out because it isn’t “fair” to those who aren’t starting.  Which by the way, complaining about not playing is just a passive way of being competitive and not very “fair” to the kids who have worked harder.
just my thoughts.  Don’t get mad at my response as you asked the question.

Let's not drop to the level of disparaging an entire program/institution...even if you may/may not have a feeling that you're correct.

There are ebbs and flows with all things.

I am sure that what's going on at Washington Center/Clinton will change soon.  To suggest that the legacy of a program would be lost that quickly, considering that they have feeders that have allowed them to succeed is all but gone....is preposterous.

Besides, what are many bloggers gonna do with their P/P postings if Dwenger drops off the map?
