  1. So Tri West barely beat LCC 34-32 and people are surprised GS blew them out?
  2. Yep I saw that today. Can't believe it's been in place that long. Either way, I'm not a fan of it.
  3. In year's past, Mater Dei would have been home this week for semi state. That's not the case this year because of this rule that was added: *If regional winner has not hosted either sectional final or regional, that school will be the designated host. Not sure that makes a lot of sense. It doesn't take travel time into consideration at all. Instead they have another 4 hour bus ride up north. Scecina's travel time has been much less.
  4. Both of Wunderlich's parents are MD graduates
  5. I think North Posey did not want to play on Saturday and Mater Dei probably didn't want to give up their home field. I do remember something about the IHSAA being the deciding factor.
  6. Let's take your freshman team argument from a few posts back. In the 2019-2020 school year, Mater Dei's freshman class was 128 students(right in line with other schools in the sectional except Linton who is a little smaller school). Linton's freshman class was 105. Assuming half of those are males, MD had a 64 kid pool to possibly play football and Linton had 52. So Mater Dei get's 25 + of those kids out playing football and Linton doesn't have enough to form a team(in your words). Numbers wise, there's not a big difference between the 2 schools class size wise. Isn't it part of the equation for a football head coach and program to get as many of those kids out playing football as possible?
  7. Yes that is not all the freshman football players at Mater Dei. I believe the freshman team had around 25 kids.
  8. I think what would make more sense is to compare the number of football players to total enrollment in the school. You act like Mater Dei has 1500 students. Mater Dei has 492 kids. Linton has 391.
  9. What happens a lot is that there are kids that get the benefit of playing in Mater Dei feeder leagues and Mater Dei travel(all star) basketball teams, all the while knowing that they will be going to North Posey. So these kids not only get all the coaching resources, but they are probably blocking a kid that would otherwise make the team and attend Mater Dei. I'm just saying this stuff goes both ways.
  10. My concern when I evaluate Lawrenceburg is their defense. I don't like that they gave up 35 points to Batesville. If you look back in recent seasons when they've had to play really good teams, their defenses just haven't been able to stop anyone. Because of this, Heritage Hills will control the line of scrimmage with the flexbone and keep the Tigers high powered offense off the field. I'm not a big believer in a sophomore quarterback being able to win a game like this either. I expect Heritage Hills to force several turnovers. Nothing against Lawerenceburg and they may prove me wrong, but I'm not going to bet on them until they do. I will say their stadium is one of the best venues I've ever been to.
  11. I get what you're saying in regards to Reitz and Castle. Maybe you don't have that one dominant big school team in it this year but in my opinion there were a lot more chances to actually lose a game this year. There have been years when Bosse, Harrison, North and Central were not very good. This year it was Harrison and maybe Bosse to a lesser extent. Reitz found themselves a bit the last 2 or 3 weeks of the season so they were not a terrible team either. Also, when you play that many solid teams I think there's a greater chance of injury. Castle cares more about their band than their football team. Still a tough place to play for teams that want to pass with the ridiculous crown on their field.
