  1. I would have seeded the final 4 in 2A like this: 1 - Andrean (defending champs) 2 - EMD (returning runners up) 3 - FW Luers (based on SOS) 4 - Linton (based on SOS)
  2. What was the best game? Given that there were 4 blowouts, it comes down to 2A or 5A. I'd rank them like this: 5A 2A 1A 3A 4A 6A
  3. Thanks for trying to get this thread back on subject. This should be a really good rematch, just hoping we get the better of it this year!
  4. MD families pay for religious education. They are not paying for an athletic experience. They could all send their kids to reitz for free and have a similar athletic experience. It's the same families generation after generation. It's not like MD has a ton of transfers every year that keeps them competitive. As far as the family things goes, you are incorrect about families sending their better athletes to MD and the other siblings to NP. There have been several MD students transfer to NP after starting at MD. there are also times where an 8th grader looks and assumes they won't be as successful (i.e. playing time) at MD and goes somewhere else. I don't think it has anything to do with a parent consciously picking the better athlete in the family and send them to MD. That's a ridiculous assertion IMO.
  5. Why don't these same advantages show up in other sports? NP routinely beats MD in basketball and baseball. Or are there only "advantages" in football? I use NP as an example because they have similar enrollments and very similar kids. they have kids in their hallways right now that went to westside catholic feeder schools and are now at NP. In some cases there are siblings at each school. With all these advantages, wouldn't the parents opt for MD? I realize that MD has a different enrollment from some other 2A schools. But the teams they have beaten to win sectional, regional and semi state are not significantly different.
  6. Please explain how MD kids are different than NP kids.
  7. Gibson Southern should be thankful that the success factor did it's job and cleared out all those highly advantaged P/P schools from 3A last year.
  8. So what's the game plan to slow down Bowen? Double Clacks and load up the box to stop the run?
  9. The Reitz Bowl is a House of Horrors for Linton. Running clock in 2019 and nearly another one on Friday night. MD has just been an extremely bad match up for the Miners to this point.
  10. MD at Tri-West, 1989 Semi State. Bitter cold and snow. Absolutely miserable game to watch from the stands.
  11. Pretty simple. You stop one time (at a rest stop preferably) to do an organized stretch/jog/etc. and you tell the players to go to the bathroom and that's it. No buying junk food, etc. If an a 15-18 year old can't pee before they leave and then has to go more than once in a 3 hour road trip he's got problems.
  12. MD had a 3 hour bus ride 3 straight weeks last year (reg, SS and state). Regional they won with a running clock, SS won fairly comfortably. State, they went up the night before so it was no factor. Sleeping in a hotel and playing earlier than normal will effect your routine though (but Drayk Bowen was the reason they lost). 2 years ago, they made the long drive to WeBo and got trounced in SS. This year, another long bus ride to TC and didn't seem like it had much of an effect on them. I think it boils down to how the coaching staff handles the logistics: What time do you leave? Do you stop and stretch on the way? Charter bus or school bus? Lots of things to make the drive more tolerable/comfortable for the players.
  13. MD has actually run the ball more this year than they have passed it. 350 rushes vs 300 passes. 2565 yds through the air and 1733 on the ground. 27 passing TD and 22 rushing TD. It's been a very balanced attack this year. They can and will sling it, but they will try to establish the running game too. Par maxpreps, last week in the cold and wind, MD was 7/9 passing and had 33 rushing attempts.
  14. Yes! That's what it was. It was played in the summer. I got asked to play but the game interfered with Legion baseball.
  15. As good as he is, he's not Jaylon Smith
  16. Something similar was done back in the late 80's/early 90's. I believe it was the All-SIAC team vs a PAC/Big 8 all star team.
  17. They didn't get it right. MD had to drive to Triton Central and Linton played Lapel in the regional. MD/Linton and TC/Lapel should have been the regional games. Regardless, the game this Friday should be a good one.
  18. Ridgemont High had Jefferson. Rydell High had Danny Zucko🤣
  19. The TD came on the last play of the game if I remember correctly. I am expecting a close game either way, but of course I am expecting MD to win.
  20. Last year vs MD: Stucky: 9/23, 65 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT Schultz: 2 carries, 2 yds, 5 rec, 20 yds New year, new teams, but MD shut them down last year. I see that both kids have impressive stats this year. I'm sure it will be another tough task to keep them in check.
  21. '19 - TC 13 MD 7 '20 - MD 16 TC 6 '21 - MD 35 TC 7 Last year's game was cold and windy. MD jumped on TC right off the bat and didn't let up. How will this year's game go? In '19, that game was a disaster from the start. The unusually early start time certainly played a factor, but MD's defense couldn't get a stop and TC had the ball the entire 3rd quarter as they methodically went down and scored what ended up being the winning TD. The '20 game seemed like MD controlled things the whole way, limiting TC to only 2 FG's.
  22. you shouldn't have been surprised. TC and Scecina played a 1 point game earlier this season. It was a clear toss up.
  23. The angle I saw was from behind the kicker. The boonville player comes off the edge and is clearly moving forward at the snap. But from the angle, it is impossible to tell if he was right on the LOS or if he was a yard or two behind. If he was a yard or two off the LOS then he timed it perfectly. If he was on the LOS then it was offsides. But again, impossible to tell from the angle I've seen. I'll trust the official that was looking right down the LOS got it right.
  24. I've seen some chatter on Facebook from the Reitz faithful that Boon-vegas was offsides on the XP. Saw a video from behind the kicker. Kid timed the snap and nobody on the right side of the Reitz line even attempted to block him. He was definitely moving forward before the snap, but you can't tell how far off the line he was from the angle of the video. Anyway, lots of the chatter was how this cost them the game. But more reasonable Reitz fans were quick to claim that there were probably 10 other plays that contributed to the loss and that they never should have been in that position to start with.
  25. Got to be a huge letdown for Reitz. Almost as bad as undefeated Jasper losing first round last year. Congrats to Boonville. I didn't think they could hang with Reitz, let alone beat them.
