"Country Club sports" = Golf, Tennis, Swimming. North's girls have golf locked down, Memorial traditionally has tennis, and Castle is the typical swimming powerhouse in the SIAC. A huge miss occurred in the MD/Andrean game. Andrean up 7-6 with MD driving. 3rd down, MD passes and the Andrean CB grabs/turns the MD receiver almost completely around, no pass interference call. Instead of 1st and goal from about the 8 yard line, MD settles for a FG to go up 9-7. IMO, it completely changed the end of the game. A TD there and MD goes up by a TD (assuming a 2pt conversion). Changed how the the offense was called for the rest of the game. Now, could Andrean have marched right down and scored an TD to tie it up? Absolutely. But I think MD would have stuck to the run game a bit more late in the game instead of passing so much. Bowen seemed to have his ears pinned back going after Wunderlich. Officials miss calls all the time, but to me this was the most egregious all weekend.

Least shocking thing I've seen today

Any insight on how that Triton Central game went for Scecina? Was it a blowout from the opening kick off? Or was it a close game that Scecina eventually pulled away in?

This is the all-city team you want to make because it is voted on by your opponents. I think it is a bigger honor to be recognized by your peers than by some writers for the Courier/Press.

Watched some scecina highlights vs LCC on max preps. The RB is small but fast, OL seems undersized but quick and opened some holes that the RB exploited. Looks like MD will have the size advantage in the trenches, but will need to make some sure tackles or the RB can break some long runs. Didn't see any of their defensive highlights. Any insight on what they do defensively? I see that they have 5 or 6 shutouts on the season.

Either way, a regional championship football game should have taken priority. The girls BB game could have been played earlier and the football game late that afternoon/evening as I doubt the visiting girls BB team had a 3+ hour bus ride.

I don't think an early season girls BB game should trump a regional championship football game. If nothing else, the football game could have been scheduled in the afternoon and Triton fans could have made it a double header with the girls BB game.

yep, I think if Linton punts on 4th and 3 right before halftime the outcome could have been different. MD did not score in the second half, so that looms large in defeat.

Great point. Eli flipping the field position was huge in the 2nd half.

I will say that Linton was better than I expected. Both teams had some poor tackling in the secondary that led to some big plays. Weather certainly impacted the second half as both teams were sliding all over. This came down to the team making the fewest mistakes would win. Linton had a fumble, blocked PAT, missed 2 pt conversion and an INT. MD took care of the ball and came out with the win.

Or just pull in to one of the Kenny Kent car lots and ask around. Might find your answers there.

I expect a tough game, but I do think MD pulls away late. If LS gets behind and has to throw to play catch up, it will be very difficult for them.

I see MD winning 35-21. MD limited the offenses in the SIAC to just under 15 ppg, so I'm not sure LS going to have seen a defense as good as what they will see Friday night. Looks like weather is going to be a factor, which could cause problems for the passing game. Hope the field is in good condition. We played up there a couple of years back after some rain and it was really sloppy.

I'm quite certain that the players are all focusing on tomorrow nights games. Doesn't stop us fans from looking ahead to the highly probably match up next week.

I think you will see the run game improve in the post season. MD ran it really well against Reitz. Just tough to run against team Castle, Jasper and Memorial. I think the OL is starting to play better and I can see the run game setting up the pass more now that the post season is here.

MD wins this sectional pretty comfortably. I think Linton may hang around for most of the 1st half, but MD wears them down in the 2nd half to win comfortably by 2 scores. I think North Posey comes out of the top half to face MD at the bowl for the title. MD heads to the regional.

That's not even close to what I said. Do I think that Linton could hang with them. Probably for a while. Do I think Linton would beat Jasper, Memorial or Castle? Nope. Cold they beat North? Maybe, but I'd favor North for sure.

How so? You flip schedules and MD is undefeated and LS likely has 3-4 losses (Jasper, Memorial, Castle and maybe North).
