What is Nike thinking?
Muda69 replied to swordfish's topic in Gridiron Out of Bounds's Out of Bound Forum
I haven't owned a pair of Nike shoes for almost 20 years now. Don't intend to start now. How many pairs of those Nike shoes have you ordered, gonzo? -
Indiana Civil Forfeiture Case

I generally agree. But that also means state and local laws should be scrutinized just as much if not more that federal laws. -

Indiana Is Still Arguing That It's Constitutional To Seize Your Car for Driving 5 MPH Over the Speed Limit: https://reason.com/2019/07/03/indiana-is-still-arguing-that-its-constitutional-to-seize-your-car-for-driving-5-mph-over-the-speed-limit/ Why this government lust for taking and individuals property? Is the state after a certain time able to keep or sell these assets? Is the state of Indiana really that hard up for cash? -
Why Are Progressives so Bad at Governing?

Again, why wasn't government legislation enacted to prevent it? -

Lee Iacocca, who gave us the Minivan and the Mustang, dies at 94: https://arstechnica.com/cars/2019/07/lee-iaccoca-who-gave-us-the-minivan-and-the-mustang-dies-at-94/ Truly an American Icon. He will be missed. My father worked 30+ years at the Kokomo Chrysler Transmission plant. I remember those late 1970's and early 1980's as being grim times. He and his coworkers accepted a pay cut to keep the plant open, and there were days where he said he would go to work not knowing if he would still have a job at the end of this shift. -

I guess we need government laws forcing adults of different racial and/or ethnic backgrounds to live with a certain geographical proximity to each other. -

No, I do not. Yet I do feel Nike is caving to yet another instance of political correctness. -

How racial bias helped turn Indianapolis into one city with 11 school districts: https://www.chalkbeat.org/posts/in/2016/08/03/how-racial-bias-helped-turn-indianapolis-into-one-city-with-11-school-districts/ So the late Mr. Lugar sacrificed the forced racial integration of government schools on the altar of Unigov? -

You asked, I answered. You didn't stipulate any sort of category other than "GOP-led". Frankfort has has a GOP mayor and a GOP city council for at least 18 out of the last 22 years. And those 4 years was when an actual independent won the mayor's seat, yet the city council was still dominated by uni-party Republicans. -

Again Mr. Wabash82,. my ultimate goal is the dissolution of government K-12 schools entirely. If the voucher programs allow existing parents to now send their child(ren) to already existing Catholic and other Christian-sponsored competitor schools, it is a small step toward that goal. No, it's not. But stick to your cute little catch phrase if it makes you feel morally superior.
-
"Supposed principles"? What exactly does that mean Wabash? And yes, in this rare circumstance I am OK with the de-facto government subsidization of religious educational organizations because it can result in real competition for the government schools and introduce more parents to the concept of school choice. After all don't these tax dollars help to keep your precious Indianapolis Cathedral & South Bend St. Joseph open? Once the Indiana State Constitution is amended to do away with the government funding of primary education the issue will be moot, will it not?

A Pregnant Woman in Alabama Was Shot in the Stomach and Miscarried. Now, Alabama Cops Are Charging Her With Manslaughter.: https://reason.com/2019/06/27/a-pregnant-woman-in-alabama-was-shot-in-the-stomach-and-miscarried-now-alabama-cops-are-charging-her-with-manslaughter/ It appears with this legislation that Alabama is slipping closer to the world found in The Handmaid's Tale. Frightening.

Hence the wailing and gnashing of teeth from pro-government education zealots like Irishman who hate having those taxpayers funds actually "follow the child" to a non-Common school. The end result is the same; actual competition for government schools that hopefully will one day end with their closing altogether.

The Problem with "Reparations"
Muda69 replied to Muda69's topic in Gridiron Out of Bounds's Out of Bound Forum
Not quite. If he died in prison after 10 years but then was found to actually be innocent shouldn't all his descendants receive reparations for the wages he was deprived of earning during those 10 years? -
Again Irishman, is a taxpayer funded education part of the Indiana State Constitution or is it not? And yes, I am ok with educational entities that receive tax dollars having discriminating practices in their employment policies as well as what customers they accept, since this may help to bring us that much closer to the abolition of government owned and managed school corporations altogether. Government out of the education business entirely is a policy that I believe I have been consistent on during my time here on the GID.
