No one in the North can compete with South period! Carrol might be able to cover receivers but their D- line is small and when a big line dominates them cause size does matter they won’t be able to rush or stop the run! Penn is improving but not near the talent of what it takes to compete with Indy schools . Will it come back ? Doubt it! Penn still living in the past ! Crown point line is big and good! Great running game! Great coaches! DEFENSE IS average. Who ever The Royals play for semi-state it will be a 14+ win. Still rooting for Carrol , Penn , or Cp to make it to Indy! Just my thoughts!

Best team Carroll has had! Bold statement! Maybe u should wait till after the season before making that statement! Just saying!

Cathedral should always be 6A period.

I have been watching HSFootball for over 40 years! I followed Hobart football through the late 70’s to the late 80’s. In my time I have watched Rod Woodson, Vaughn Dunbar , Tank Adams , Martell France to name a few. After Don Howell left I started going to games that were highlighted as the big games north of Indianapolis. The kid from Merrillville has the quickest 3 step start that I have seen in a long time. Granted I am old , but he is right there with his explosiveness.

Don’t know if anyone in the the state can cover # 23 from Merrillville. Fastest High school player I have witnessed with running back power and moves.

Hope he brings Zac wells with him as Defensive Coordinator. Way to go Dogs!

I said 13 -3 and the best game of the weekend. Got laughed at. 27-20 . At the beginning of the week we should have told valpo to just stay home cause the dragons were unbeatable. If not for a bad choice by the QB on one throw. The game is different. Great game by two great teams. New pal is a great program that is basically a suburb of Indy and they have benefited of people that move to be away from the city and are still close enough to be away from the everyday hassle of city life. We are a 4a program the voices have cried . Give me a break. That will change when people move into your community. HSE, fishers were there also and look we’re their at. Some how Charlie spegal was at another school his freshman year and ended up at NP. Would be a whole different story if he was not there for 3 years. Enjoy your time on top cause it will come to a end at some point! Now that my rant is over, #20 for new pal is one hell of a football player. Seen him over the last couple years and he is special. #54 is good but the valpo line held him in check. If the QB for new pal plays the whole game they win by 20. Valpo had the perfect opportunity to upset them and fell short cause the lack of ability at QB. Great game. Love the region

Dwenger and cathedral would have been awesome.

A shame that 3 great teams this year could all be in the state championship this weekend if two of them would have stayed in the same classes as last year. Only one will hold the trophy. Valpo possibly in 6A NewPal definitely in 5A Dwenger definitely in 4A.

Valpo will stop the man. I would sell out all game to stop the run by segal and the QB Although if the QB can throw early and move the offense down the field. This could be ugly by the end of the first half. Valpo defense is legit. Valpo can make the QB beat them and has he had to do that this year. Np 13 valpo 3. Valpo is huge and np is very good. Np defense is very, very experienced and valpo offense is one dimensional. Gonna be the game of the weekend.

Andrean Is in Gary. The school is outdated and teachers leave cause the pay is terrible. Walk inside Andrean it looks like a school from the 70s . Not saying they do but It seems the only thing they throw money to is the Baseball and softball facilities. The football field is nothing special looks the same as it did in the 80s. Just like any other private school in the state they have a enrollment that falls in the 2A category but they have athletes that can compete with larger schools. I bet more than half of their student body all play sports. Dont want to hear anyone say work harder you public schools like I have heard in the past on this site. You can’t make a kid be bigger or faster than what they are. Stronger yes. You can’t make a kid be 6’4 when he is 5’10. You can’t make a kid be 4.5 speed when he is 5.0 speed. That is public schools in a nutshell. It’s easy for private schools to always be on top when 6’4 guys come to your school year in and year out . Got to have the horses period. Once in awhile a public school gets a couple of good classes . lets not forget Dwenger came to the inferno a couple times and left with a loss. So it’s anyones game come Friday night. I will take eastbrook. To long of a drive and eastbrook might be bigger than andrean.

Actually would have loved to see homestead and Merrillville. Would have been a great game. I am from the region but I think homestead would win.

Carmel will beat Merrillville the same way they beat homestead so don’t feel bad.

MISHAWAKA — Keith Kinder did not mince words. There was no reason to. The Mishawaka football coach knew what his team had run into Friday night. A truly great opponent. Visiting Valparaiso simply dominated for 48 minutes in crushing the Cavemen 49-0 in a Class 5A regional game at Steele Stadium. The No. 2 Vikings, 12-0, will host Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger (11-1) in a semistate game next Friday night. Valparaiso claimed its eighth regional title and has outscored its three tournament foes 163-6. No. 11 Mishawaka sees its season end at 8-4. “That’s as good a football team as I’ve seen since I’ve been at Mishawaka,” said Kinder. “I told you earlier in the week that this was the best team we have seen this season and it wasn’t even close, and it wasn’t. There was no way we were winning this game tonight.” Valpo will play a Dwenger team that beat the Cavemen in the Class 4A semistate a year ago and then went on to claim the state title. The Vikings lost 14-10 to Carmel in a Class 6A semistate game a year ago before moving down to 5A this year. “That team is as good or better than the Dwenger team that beat us (24-6) last year,” said Kinder. “What happened tonight just does not happen to us. We just could not get anything inside the tackles on offense. When you get beat by a better team like we did tonight it does make it easier.”
