  1. I don't know if Merrillville is as much of a lock to come out of the North as others believe. Still think they're the favorites but they lost a lot of talent from their team from last year. They have a JV sectional but regionals and semistate won't be easy. Snider is definitely a possibility to be the North representative and FW North is the wildcard in the situation. Factor in Valpo, MC, and Mishawaka as potential dark horses. For the South, I think that DC is the favorite currently but I have heard they lost a good amount talent as well. I think that Harrison could easily be the team that gets to LOS. The sectional matchup between them and DC might decide who gets there. Castle and Evansville North are the potential sleepers I see down South. Overall though, I think that 5A South isn't nearly as deep as the North. I'll go out on a limb here and say that the North will take the 5A crown this year.
  2. Potentially sleeping on the Lawrences?
  3. Heritage Christian is a big sleeper in the South in 2A. I know they return a good amount from their team last year including a good QB who was hurt during their loss to Scecina last year. Right now if I had to choose I'd say they're the biggest threat to MD down South.
  4. The words “you’re not welcome on the GID” were not typed by me. Go pull up my posts 😉. I know you’re a lawyer Bob, but do we really have to argue about this?
  5. Didn’t tell him he wasn’t welcome. Just told him to leave the ignorance on FB.
  6. I’m not thanking anyone for talking out of their behind saying ignorant stuff that can be easily disproved with a 2-second google search. That does not add anything to this forum and you know it.
  7. But keep in mind that the Sagarin Ratings are going to factor in all the non-SAC teams that those non-SAC teams played as well. That's why we see such a correction in the ratings after 1 week of playoffs. Just by playing one game against a non-SAC opponent, the Sagarin Ratings can factor all the teams that non-SAC team played, and all the teams that team's opponents played, into the rankings for the SAC. So 11 non-SAC opponents basically means the Sagarin Ratings can give a pretty accurate view of how the SAC was in comparison to the rest of the state.
  8. Some bad takes here: - Brebeuf at #1 in 4A - East Central only at #10 - Any 4A North team being ranked higher than a 4A South team - Zionsville over HSE - Whiteland at #3 in 5A - No Valpo in 5A - No Norwell in 3A - No Park Tudor in 1A - No Heritage Christian in 2A - Triton Central at #4 in 2A
  9. Your point was that they've only had postseason success cause they haven't seen Valpo, which is false. Good lord you can't even keep up with your own arguments... Valpo wasn't the better team that night at regionals. And I guarantee if you ask Marshall he wouldn't care at all that they won the regular season matchup. Go back to FB.
  10. They literally beat Valpo in regionals this year...I always thought people were exaggerating how braindead your takes were on FB but now I see what they mean. Don't bring the ignorance to the GID.
  11. Honestly I've never understood why Portage has been so bad either. They always seem to be solid defensively but just can't ever seem to get the offense figured out. They've even had solid coaches like Wally McCormack lead the team since Buz's departure. That's an interesting point you made about the raw talent being better than the 90s, because honestly overall I still think they might have the worst talent level in the DAC. And I just don't see that this program has an identity to it at all. They don't have the line play to compete with Valpo nor the athletes to compete with Ville and City. Their stuck in between a rock and a hard place.
  12. Gotta remember that once the playoffs come the Sagarin Ratings adjust the closed conferences as they play teams from around the state. I think it's no secret that the need to get better scheduling for the larger schools was a primary reason why the SAC made the move to go away from the round robin.
  13. Hopefully sarcasm. From what I've seen teachers and coaches are resigning because they are being overworked and are facing a complete lack of communication and care from the administration. The superintendent is also apparently blocking people who are expressing their concerns on social media. Rumor is that Hidalgo resigned because he knew the hiring process was not handled in an upstanding way. Seems like a LaPorte situation turned up to ten.
  14. In my defense I originally posted this here before the topic was created haha
  15. You would think that would be a lot for one man's plate. Very interesting development here.
  16. Tough, tough break. Hope Whiting can come out of this alright.
  17. Apparently he wants to return to River Forest. Tough situation for the Oilers. Hope they can get the right man for the job in there. Great tradition and one of my favorite stadiums.
  18. Just saw on RSN that Whiting is opening back up its HC search as Hidalgo has resigned. Can't post link as I can't access FB on work computer 😝, but this is confirmed.
  19. I understand what you mean. I played for Mason, who is one of the last coaches like that left. That style has its positives and negatives. I think its prepared me well for the real world and work, people not holding your hand and purely expecting results, and football is supposed to teach life lessons like that. But towards the end, and I mean absolutely no disrespect to Mason by this, I think some of us had tuned him out a bit. I think he even tacitly acknowledged that when he left Andrean. If every reaction is as if the house is burning down, you eventually become numb to the house burning down. And not to get too philosophical, but I think a lot of young men in our society today need a big brother/father figure type who can give them guidance more than a disciplinarian who's gonna yell at them every time they slip up. I guess we'll have to wait and see which coaching style is better for players in the long run.
  20. The era of the Woody Hayes style coach are over, DT. This same problem is why I heard Radke has disappointed in Knox. Kids just don't respond to that coaching style anymore. There's a reason why many programs have hired younger guys who can relate to kids more, and why these younger guys have been having increasing success. The 'bro coach' is here to stay, at least for now, and I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.
  21. Michigan is deeper but I think the top teams in Indiana in general are a little better most years.
  22. Indiana football is just better than Michigan football?
