    SECTIONAL 5
      Sect Class Overall
    Brownsburg 1-  0 4-  1 6-  1
    Carmel 1-  0 4-  1 5-  2
    Avon 0-  1 3-  4 3-  4
    Pike 0-  1 2-  4 3-  4

    SECTIONAL 7
      Sect Class Overall
    North Central (Indianapolis) 3-  0 5-  2 5-  2
    Lawrence North 2-  1 4-  2 5-  2
    Warren Central 1-  2 2-  4 2-  4
    Lawrence Central 0-  3 0-  7 0-  7

In 6A, these are the two most intriguing sectionals to me.

Sectional 5, it seems like really any of these 4 teams have a shot at winning it. We all thought the winner of Avon Bburg last year would win the sectional, but Zionsville pulled off one of the biggest tournament upsets in recent years and won the sectional.

Sectional 7, I really think it's a 3-man race between NC, LN, and WC. Even with all the good vibes around the LN program, they still lost to NC 28-21 this season and have a questionable defense. Warren is Warren until proven otherwise, even with a 2-4 record.

I like Carmel to beat Brownsburg and come out of that sectional. And for some crazy reason I am going to take Warren Central to win sectional 7

Who would have ever thunk it?  Center Grove at Larry North is the Game of the Year in the Midwests premier high school football conference.

Given the magnitude and the starpower of this matchup, you might see 8000 at this game if it were played at CG with no Covid restrictions.

Interesting that it has taken former Center Grove DC  Pat Mallory 7 years to build his LN program to this high level, only to run into the greatest CG team ever in 2020.

Donaven McCulley and his dangerous receiving corp will thoroughly test the Trojan back 7,  and LN will pile up more yards and points than any other school this season on the CG defense, yet the Trojan overall dominance will prevail, 49-28.

Ill be streaming this one live for sure on Friday night.  You will be treated to several All State players in this one, some with some very big college and possibly NFL futures ahead of them.

    Enjoy

Pat Mallory was not DC for Center Grove. Coached O-Line

Solid conference .  Might be best and most balanced in the state.  Could see New Pal sliding in very nicely with their expected future growth.

They should have said no to Perry and waited for better options.

Why would New Pal leave the conference they are in? No reason to

The loss to Mt Vernon was shocking for many, but in my view, the narrow 17-14 win over Greenfield Central is the even more surprising outcome.

Mt Vernon is a rising power and built to be the next dominant program in the HHC.

Greenfield Central is 1-3 this year, and has lost 11 straight to New Pal by some horrifically lopsided scores , including these past 5 contests between the two schools

    2019  68-0

    2018   76-6

    2017    59-3

    2016    84-21

    2015    77-20

GC is 5-26 over the past 3 seasons.

Can you imagine the reaction had GC pulled off the upset?

Is NP only a 3 point better program than GC?

    Whats the scoop?

And might the current reality give Coach R reason to look into some other opportunities?

Relax!! lol. It is high school football, sometimes there just are not as good of players in the building. New Pal still has a great program. Sheesh

25-6 on my picks for the year.

Mooresville (6-0) @ Whiteland (5-1) -  Mooresville looks to clinch at least a share (most likely outright) of the Mid-State title this week with Martinsville and Perry being left in the schedule. Mooresville 35-24

Perry (0-6) @ Martinsville (2-4)- Best chance for Perry to get in the win column for the year. Martinsville 28-17

    Greenwood (3-3) @ DC (4-2)- DC 35-14

Plainfield (3-3) @ Franklin (3-3)- Should be a tightly contested game that will come down to who turns the ball over less. Plainfield 28-24

    Power Rankings Week 6

    1. Mooresville

    2. DC

    3. Whiteland

    T4. Plainfield

    T4. Franklin

    6. Greenwood

    7. Martinsville

    8. Perry

    Mooresville 33 Whiteland 26

    Martinsville 21 Perry 20

    DC 45 Greenwood 14

    Franklin 28 Plainfield 21

Therer are some interesting conference affiliation discussions going on in varios active threads.  This is always a popular topic on The GID as everyone has ideas on what is just the best fit for each and every school in the state.

Once we come out of COVID, I believe schools will take a hard look at where they are at and we might see some more movement.

I see 3 current conferences that each have their specific challenges :

North Central - old dying industrial towns living on the glory of past hoops success.

Conference Indiana - always talk of defections and reshuffling

Circle City - Big school / small circle setup is not the best

The Big 12 consolidates key football centric members of the 3 conferences :

Here is the line up :

    TH North

    TH South

    Bloomington North

    Bloomington South

    Columbus North

    Southport

    Lafayette Jeff

    Lafayette Harrison

    McCutcheon

    Roncalli

    Chatard

    Brebeuf

I love how you claim that you do not like to talk about "fake" or "fictional" conferences and then you do this hahah. I am all for it and agree that there should be some new conferences out there. Especially with Conference Indiana falling apart. I just had to say that about you DT lol

Just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on what their potential matchups might be for Thanksgiving weekend after getting a look at teams through the halfway point.

6A: CG vs HSE. CG takes the title this year and probably goes down as one of the best hs football teams the state has ever seen. The north will be a toss up. Honorable Mention: Brownsburg, Merrillville, Westfield and Laff Jeff.

5A: Cathedral vs Valpo. Cathedral also runs away with the title this year. The Cathedral vs CG game at the end of the year has the potential to be a top 25 national matchup. Honorable Mention: DC, Dwenger

4A: Mooresville vs Hobart. Probably the most unpredictable of the different classes. Mooresville state title would be a nice resume booster for one of the best Indiana HS football coaches ever. Honorable mention: Roncalli, Mt. Vernon, East Central, Leo, Evansville Central

3A: Chatard vs Danville. Chatard gets another title. HM: Mishawka Marian, Southridge, West Laff, Lawrenceburg

2A: Not going to speak much on a class I do not know much about. Interested to get the GID's thoughts.

1A: Lutheran v South Adams. Lutheran wins it. HM: South Putnam, Covenant Christian, LCC, Adams Central, North Judson

    6A: CG vs. Westfield

5A: Cathedral vs. Valpo, Dwenger, and Zionsville. Tough to pick here. I feel that most forget about Zionsville being in 5A. They play a very tough schedule in the HCC. Valpo probably has the most all around talent.

    4A: Mt. Vernon vs. Hobart

3A: Chatard vs. Danville or Southridge

2A: All I can pick is Andrean. Not sure about the South.

    1A: Lutheran vs. South Adams

  8. I somehow missed this thread and started another one today by accident...my bad lol.

    Here are my thoughts through:

Well we already know who is going to win the conference this year. Who will come in 2nd place? It will be very interesting to see how the rest of the season goes and how teams come together or fall apart in the MIC.

Carmel vs. North Central- I'll take the Greyhounds in a close one. 24-20

Lawrence Central vs. Center Grove- Trojans 56-0. Enough said.

Lawrence North vs. Ben Davis- I think the  Giants start to get things rolling and LN begins to weaken. BD 30-22

Warren Central vs. Pike- Very interesting matchup. I do not really know how these teams will show up each week. I feel that Pike has a good offense and Warren has a great defense. The Warriors Offense is very unimpressive, but I will take Warren 21-14.

I'm sitting here wondering:  who would win between Brownsburg and Cathedral?  The reason I ask is Brownsburg has already beaten St X (in OT).  Brownsburg is #2 in the 6A poll and #5 in the Sagarin ratings.  Cathedral is #1 in the 5A poll BUT #2 in the Sagarin Ratings.  So could Cathedral beat the team that beat St. X?  I would think that Cathedral will be favored in this game with St. X.  Then I look and see that week 9 is going to be the battle of the season as Cathedral will be at #1 and nationally ranked Center Grove.  Wow, just wow!  Hope that someone gets in touch with ESPN and has them broadcast the game.  Not a fan of either team.  Just a fan of high school football.  And I believe Cathedral/Center Grove would be a great promotional game for the state of Indiana.

It is an awesome game for the state. and It is a great competition for players. You have to think it is a bit annoying for CG that their last game of the season is a non conference opponent in Cathedral. Outstanding program with outstanding players each year. It makes it tough to prepare for a non conference game the last game of the regular season with worrying about injuries and what not. There were a couple years in this series where Cathedral was 6A and I am sure neither team wanted to show all of their stuff because of the possibility of a semi state matchup. Either way, it is going to be an incredible Week 9 game between the Trojans and the Irish. I always consider this game the Notre Dame vs. USC matchup for Indiana High School Football.

I disagree, strongly.  There is no way that you can look at WC and not see that that program has slipped competitively over the past 5 years.

Warren will always win more than they lose because they have solid numbers and good athletes.  What they are missing are the elite level athletes that used to separate the program from other high level programs in the state.  They also dont have the depth in coaching that they had during their glory years 10 to 15 years ago.

WC has produced 1 Big Ten caliber football player in the last 5 years, David Bell.

They used to have several on the same team.

Most would agree that both LN and Pike are improving.  I did not infer that either have passed WC and BD.  Both however have the potential to do so, like North Central is in the process of doing now.

I guess we will see haha

This is likely the least consequential and least hyped BD-WC matchup in 25 years.

Both programs have experienced a significant decline in individual talent.

Both have seen massive home game attendance declines in recent years.

Both have huge stadiums that sit 90% empty on Friday nights.

Both suffer from declining community support and involvement

    Both have suspect coaching staffs.

Both programs are trending down while all others in The MIC, with the exception of LC, are trending up.

Both appear to be in the early stages of long term decline.

Most of these I agree with, but no way in heck is Warren Central trending down as far as their program goes. Always at the top each year. BD was in the semi state last season. And for you to think Pike and LN are going to surpass Warren and BD because for one season during a pandemic they have lost some early games then you must be going crazy.
