Once again, with the changing demographics in and around central Indiana and viewing things LONG TERM, is Warren a better job than Zionsville?  New Pal?  Whiteland?

Make no mistake, Warren is not going anywhere but two of those three are among the fastest growing areas anywhere in the state and "could" be the next Warren in 10-15 years.

I guess it comes down to win NOW versus win LATER...

I agree with you. I just know that Warren is appealing to any coach in Central Indiana. However, those other 3 are as well.

    Obvious coaches for WC job:

    1) Kyle Ralph - You all know why.  BUT, I think now is a great time for Ralph to move on.  I'm sure he could bring most of his assistants with him as well since both schools are close geographically...

    2) Mike Kirschner - WC alum and maybe he misses the "grind"

    Not so obvious:

    3) Justin Pelley (Webo) - he can clearly coach ball with 3 state championships.  Does he want a taste of the MIC

    4) Darrin Fisher (Whiteland) - he could really run his offense at a place like WC

    5) Nick Hart (Gibson Southern) - 9th year at GS and seems like a guy WC could have for 10+ years

Most of Kyle Ralph's assistants are not teachers so I am not sure about bringing them with. However, I do think if he wants it it would be his. I do not see Kirschner trying for it. Pelley no way. Fisher is a great coach, but I don't see him going for it. Nick Hart maybe, but the rumor is that he will take over at Brownsburg in a couple of years.

I see Warren hiring an assistant within the program. Russ Mann potentially. I also could see Pat Mallory from LN going for the job or maybe a coordinator from Center Grove. CG coaches have been very loyal at CG and seem to be content with staying there so that may be a bit of a stretch.

You could also make a case for Scott Turnquist from Zionsville. in 2 years he won a 6A sectional for Ziosnville and then a 5A state runner up. Used to be the OC at Carmel so maybe he would want to get back into the MIC.

A big shout out needs to go to Coach Turnquist of Zionsville.  He is a very bright offensive mind.  The job he did in the playoffs was phenominal.  Zionsville returns most of its offensive starters for next year. It could potentially be a very interesting year for the Eagles.  Coach TQ has had the Eagles over achieving the last two years in the playoffs.  Last year they upset Brownsburg in 6a.  This year, he turned the Eagles into the 2nd best team in 5a.  Sorry Dwenger..... it's just a fact.

There is a huge adantage to playing a 6a schedule all year and then dropping to 5a in th playoffs.  Westfield took advantage of that for years and Zionsville did this year.   Congrats to Coach TQ and the Eagles for a strong finish in 2020.

They sure will miss that QB though. #6 had an outstanding state finals game. I was impressed.

Side note, on the broadcast for the 6A game, the commentators mentioned Joey Siderewicz was an assistant coach for Zionsville. This is son of Center Grove assistant Joe Siderewicz and grandson of Hall of Famer Bill Siderewicz. Joey was the QB for CG in 2015 when the Trojans last went undefeated and won the state title. The Siderewicz family is continuing it's coaching tradition in Indiana.

  4. I know it is early...WAY early. BUT, we all need something to start talking and thinking about. I am not sure about all the teams who has what for next year, but some we should have a solid idea. I want to see everyone predictions and thoughts about each team for next season. All info and thoughts are welcomed. Hopefully the programs will get a full offseason to work with players and be ready to go come end of summer.

Here are my way too early projections:

    1. Center Grove. They graduate a lot, but still have a phenomenal junior class. They win the MIC, but do not go undefeated this time.

    2. Ben Davis. I look for the Giants to be explosive on offense and scare lots of teams. Not sure what the D looks like.

T3. Carmel/Warren. Both of these teams will have solid years. They will be equal. and as a matter a fact I think the top 4 will be super competitive and will be able to throw a blanket over them.

    5. North Central. Panthers have a decent year, but nothing special.

    6. Pike. Lots of question marks as the Red Devils always confuse me. They are a mystery every year.

    7. LN. They lose lots. Cooper will help them as he will be returning.

    8. LC. The bears will continue to implode. I am expecting a 1 win or 0 win season again.

Agree to a point. The schools you mentioned hung around until CG decided to destroy them. CG did this to Westfield almost from the get go. Westfield did run for 136 yards. Micha Hauser, running on a bad ankle, ran for 118 yards in only 11 carries. Did CG allow another 100 yard rusher this season? CG only gave up an average of 38 yards per game. Westfield "won" the second half 7-0. As you said, CG did not let off of the gas. They didn't pull their starters until almost the final minute of the game, after Westfield had already pulled their starters. Westfield's defense really cranked it up the second half, especially Popeye Williams, who's being recruited by many of the top D1 schools.  That pick by Kyle Pape made #1 on ESPN's Top Play Of The Day. As sort of a consolation, Westfield's Benji Welch was awarded the Mental Attitude Award.

I felt cg let up some... but the rocks did settle down and play a solid second half.

  6. I don’t think those numbers will stay the same though. According to the DOE school compass, Harrison (West Lafayette) is tracking their population downwards and they are at 1,950 at the moment. Some of the other numbers on that list are different as well. There is a chance Whiteland jumps up to 6A with as fast as they are growing

The alignment committees tend to prefer to modify the current alignment as little as possible.  I think 6A is pretty easy.

    Sectional 1

    Lake Central

    Crown Point

    Lafayette Jefferson

    Harrison (West Lafayette)

    Sectional 2

    Penn

    Elkhart

    Portage

    Chesterton

    Sectional 3

    Noblesville

    Homestead

    Carroll (F.W.)

    Warsaw

    Sectional 4

    Carmel

    Fishers

    Hamilton Southeastern

    Westfield

    Sectional 5

    Pike

    Avon

    Brownsburg

    Zionsville

    Sectional 6

    Ben Davis

    Perry Meridian

    Southport

    Indianapolis Arsenal Tech

    Sectional 7

    North Central (Indpls.)

    Warren Central

    Lawrence North

    Lawrence Central

    Sectional 8

    Franklin Central

    Center Grove

    Jeffersonville

    Columbus North

Yes I agree. I love to see different and new matchups, but I think if these end up being the enrollment numbers that this is what the sectionals will look like.

Does anyone else feel like this is the 6A-Division 2 state championship?  I am taking Cathedral by 14.  I think it will be close for 3 quarters and Cathedral will pull away in the 4th

I agree with this. Cathedral obviously has the talent level to be a 6A football team. And Zionsville has beaten and competed all year long with 6A teams. They are a 6A school that got shuffled down to 5A for this season.
