  1. Elkhart 21 at St. Joseph 3 Defense for Elkhart will keep the Offense in a good scoring position. But, will the offense find a way to move the ball consistently? Penn 35 at Adams 0 JV for Penn will probably play the whole second half. Riley 21 at New Prairie 27 I think this could be a close game if Riley can keep their composure and be resilient. Washington at Marian Marian by however many they want.
  2. Friday, Sep. 20 Marian 21 at Penn 27©, 7 pm Penn's special teams make the winning difference. New Prairie 21 at Elkhart 14©, 7:30 pm Elkhart's defense will bend and break in the red zone. My big question is whether Elkhart's offense is able to put up points against a disciplined defense. Adams 7 at St. Joseph 42 ©, 7 pm Running clock in the second half if Adams can't get on the board. Riley 35 at Washington 0 ©, 7 pm Washington won't be able to handle Riley's offense.
  3. The appointment of Travon Curry as the head coach is a thrilling choice. Being a local hire, Curry has been a witness to both the triumphant moments and the stumbling blocks of the program over the years. I'm curious to see if student-athletes will be drawn back to Elkhart under his guidance, and how he'll boost the program with the athletes walking the halls. The most intriguing aspect will be Coach Curry's selection of his staff; it's an exciting prospect that fresh faces and new ideas may be introduced with new staff members.
  4. So those us us who cannot afford private school or are able to stay home with our kids because of a job supposed to do? That is why those option you give are not actually possible for an over whelming majority of people. Public school is the only realistic option for thousands of kids in Indiana.
  5. So if public teachers leave the profession who will educate our youth? We are already in a teacher shortage in Indiana!
  6. You do realize that turf reduces yearly maintenance costs (water, mowing, fertilizer, and paint) and allows other sports/activities to use the same space without destroying the field. Worth the investment in the long run.
  7. You do realize turf helps reduce yearly maintenance costs and allows for the community to utilize that space more often and for more than football. Well worth the cost in the long run.
  8. Adams did not win a game last year. I would say they got "pushed over" a lot last year. Plus, they lost their D1 QB and were out scored 400-144. Northridge had only 4 wins against teams with a combined record of 5-37....Seems like they are push overs. With that said St. Joe has a long way to go if they will bounce back and have a winning record.
  9. There is no "good fix ." Either put in the time and grind it out with a family that is understanding of the time and financial short comings. Or, have a short head coaching career... The districts are locked into what they get from the state and referendums. A lot of times districts want to pay more but fiscally cannot. It will only change if the state legislature will pony up and actually fund public education appropriately or communities invest more into their community's children's education.
  10. Clayton Lundy wrestling for Elkhart Memorial will play football for Elkhart High.
