My guess is this is the case with pretty much any public access point. Money, touch pads for debit/credit cards, a hand rail ANYWHERE, magazines at the doctors office, touch screen on the Coke machine at Burger King, etc.

I would argue too much disinfecting is probably more detrimental to our health than ingesting a little microscopic fecal matter.

  2. Robotics are becoming much more adaptable to multiple tasks and the price is constantly getting more affordable. The biggest issue for robotics in the early years was that they were built to do a specific task. When the process changed or that process was no longer needed, the robot was pretty much a dinosaur. Today's robots are becoming much more adaptable to do multiple tasks or being able to be adapted to different processes.

The perfect factory will have one dog and one human. The human is there to feed the dog, and the dog is there to make sure the human doesn't mess with any of the machines.

How does a Freshman hold 4 D1 offers under the new NCAA recruiting rules? Official visits?

You can make unofficial visits on your own any time. I would assume most of these schools offer camps that athletes can attend. I'm assuming the offers are made then. Been a while since I've been in the recruiting business, but I assume most of this still holds true.

But, but what about REEFER MADNESS!?!?!?!  Won't legions of crazed, drugged seeking millennials raid Indiana hemp fields in the dead of night, in search of the demon weed?

Tobacco farming is basically non-existent in Indiana anymore, this is a viable crop for farmers. In turn with an additional crop in the rotation, this could lead to less supply of traditional crops, thus more favorable prices for farmers.

I have loosely followed Kentucky's program, based on my listening to KY radio. McConnell took care of the folks on this one. While listening to our backwards ass governor rail on the ills of cannabis, and promoting hate crimes legislation, KY is way ahead of us on this issue, an issue that really boost our agri-business economy.

  5. Martina Navratilova recently spoke out about his, mentioning the unfair advantage of testosterone, I have a feeling she knows from experience. I do know that testosterone is a banned substance per WADA. It was Floyd Landis's ultimate undoing in cycling.

  6. ***Moving from VOC thread***

I'm left scratching my head with this discussion. One the one hand bashing Christians has pretty much become sport in this country. While the the bible may or may not offer death for the sin of homosexuality, I'm not aware of any instances in recent history where Christians are killing gays for being gay. On the other hand, we're suppose to embrace Islam as a "peaceful" religion, and celebrate diversity, and all the current PC culture. Yet there are any number of incidences in recent history where Muslims have killed people for being gay.

I am hearing episode 911 is THE episode of the season. My bet is it goes from 0-100 real quick regarding the Whisperers. I would also wager Beta appears and is terrifying.

Should I have a gun with me while I watch?

I disagree with the apples to oranges part.  They are not that different, however the high school happens on a larger scale (not sure it is infinite).  The point however, is that when you are a varsity assistant, you are shielded from the administrative duties that being a head coach requires.  When you are in charge at any level, there are admin responsibilities that can help to prepare you for the higher level.

    Fair enough.

Coaching at the middle school level may actually help prepare a coach more than being a coordinator or other varsity assistant.  The most difficult part about being a head coach is not the coaching part, as that does not change regardless of the level,  it is the administrative aspects of the job that it is impossible to prepare for.  As a middle school coach, there are a number of administrative duties that parallel those of a head coach.  Finding the right person for a job is as inexact a science as there is.  I understand that there are any number of factors that must be weighed by candidates when choosing places to be interested in, and the same goes for the schools when evaluating candidates.  I hope Gavit found the man they were looking for!

I can agree 100% with this.

Comparing administrative duties at the MS vs. HS is apples and oranges. HS is infinitely larger.

I obviously own them and have worn the cufflinks and your effort to make some sort of weak personal jab at my "coolness" is cute.  Waste of time.

Never said Biden's "my guy". Another conjecture by you trying to mask your biased attack on the fella.  Look, I get it, you don't like to be called on your biases.  Not the end of the world.

NFHS says deaths are down compared to just recently.  Whether it's a couple of blips or not remains to be seen, but the points compared to the past seem lower.

    https://www.nfhs.org/articles/injury-risk-lowest-in-history-of-high-school-football/

    FTA:

The NFHS has been writing and publishing its own rules in football since 1932, and the organization has had an unwavering focus on risk minimization. However, by the late 1960s and early 1970s, the number of deaths in high school football had accelerated, with a high of 35 in 1970. In 1975, spearing was outlawed and several other equipment and safety-related changes were put in place and the number of fatalities dropped significantly.

In 2016 and 2017, there were only two direct deaths each year compared to an average of 20 annually in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Moreover, as opposed to 50 years ago, today playing rules are in place at the high school level to manage a student who exhibits signs and symptoms of a concussion. Thanks to these guidelines and state laws in place, the incidence of high school players incurring a repeat concussion has been greatly reduced. In addition, practice restrictions and contact limits have been adopted by all member state associations.

I believe NFHS gets data from NCCSIR and or RIO.

My wife likes to order shoes/clothes, etc. from Macy's online. She'll order stuff, and return what doesn't fit or she doesn't like. So, since I'm in the city a lot more than her, it falls upon me to return what she doesn't want. A couple of weeks ago, I return a couple of pairs of heels. The woman at the counter opens them up, has a bit of a smirk on her face and asks "they didn't fit?" To which I replied, keeping a straight face and without batting an eye,  "I was looking for something a little sexier for dancing". Eff it man, may as well have a little fun with it.

Not a question of must, but does he?

Hence my sarcastic comment about him speaking for all conservatives. Because every time some id1ot  makes a stupid comment like this, we all get stuck with it.

Conversely Crazy Uncle Joe says "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man." and everyone laughs it off, ohhhh, that's just Crazy Uncle Joe.

Data is all over the board on this issue.  In my view, its more of a "gut" feel.  Reporting of injuries is not the same today as it has been in the past.  Not really an apples to apples comp.

My "gut" tells me we are seeing more injuries overall and more catastrophic injuries as well.  Bigger, stronger and faster athletes playing on lighting quick turf with ultra modern, lightweight protective gear spells trouble.

The NCCSIR report spells out the issues with reporting, it's still not exactly a science. No word from the Boston Globe.

Your gut.....now with get to the crux of it.
