  1. Marian has had a great season, only losing to Mishawaka in a tight game. Having said that, our starting RB went out in the second quarter of the Sectional Championship game against Jimtown, and in the third quarter of that game our starting QB went out. Neither played last week, and our offense is definitely challenged without them. I am not hearing optimism about them being back for Friday. At full strength it would have been a huge challenge for the Knights to hang with Chatard. Without the starting QB or RB....
  2. Really looking forward to the Marian - Mishawaka matchup. The Knights have struggled to stop the Cavemen offense for years. The Marian defense this year has great stats, but they really haven't faced a good offense yet. It will be a very tough test that will tell us a lot about how good the Knights can be come postseason.
  3. And he was pretty close on the Marian - CMA score as well!!
  4. I am surprised by so many predictions of an easy Marian victory. This matchup is never an easy one, and looking at CMA's schedule, I don't think this will be much different. Surprised by the fact that they had difficulty with Memorial, but other than that, they have played good teams to close games. Only lost to Brebeuf by a touchdown, and Hobart and Harrison are good teams. The Knights did not play well against Jimtown, at least on the offensive side of the ball, and that was still a one score game with a couple minutes to go. Other than that, Marian hasn't been tested - I look for a very good game Friday at Otolski Field.
  5. Thunder and lightning and rain in ..NCI too. Mishawaka - EC postponed to tomorrow. Hoping Bremen @ Marian still goes tonight!
  6. That is one of the toughest calls. Looking at the map it could go either way, and I thought I would send Tri-West north with Crawfordsville/North Montgomery. We have seen the committee's propensity to lump the P/Ps together in sectionals in the past, which would argue for Chatard in 28, but from strictly a geographic perspective it is a tossup. One of them will have to go North, will be very interesting to see which one it is.
  7. You only have 7 teams in 28. Here is my stab at 3A North: 25 26 27 28 Hammond Clark Knox Garrett Northwestern Hammond John Glenn FW Concordia Yorktown River Forest SB Washington Heritage Hamilton Heights Calumet Mishawaka Marian Bellmont North Montgomery Hanover Central Jimtown Norwell Crawfordsville Twin Lakes Tippecanoe Valley Oak Hill Guerin Catholic Benton Central West Noble Peru Brebeuf Jesuit West Lafayette Lakeland Maconaquah Tri-West
  8. I would agree with Bullhorn99 - nothing wrong with looking at each situation on its own and making case-specific decisions. If the numbers would work in this case, why not do it? It isn't the Supreme Court - precedence doesn't have to be a guiding principle. Unlike the Muncie situation, there is no question that even if they lose more than 30% of the combined Central/Memorial student count, they will still be a 6A size.
  9. Great point. Not only a current shortfall, but also with the property tax caps kicking in, very limited prospects for increased revenue in the future.
  10. Forgive me for not knowing the history, but was the closing of Muncie South, and the related change in school size, known two years in advance? Just wondering if it truly is an apples to apples comparison.
  11. Todd Stammich named as Washington Head Coach.
  12. Yes, I think this makes it a certainty that the two Elkhart schools will be a part of a 5 team Sectional in 2019 so that it can just drop down to a 4 team in 2020. A couple of the earlier projections here didn't have it that way, but I think that is the only way to go.
  13. Thought I read somewhere that Elkhart will be 6A in 2020 after the merger - EC and EM both 5A in 2019 then combined school becomes 6A
