  1. It sounds like Clay could remain a high school for the fine arts only of about 450 kids. It would not be in the current high school building. That is what the consultant wants to see happen which is why the Clay Twp people are not happy The school board could be shaken up in November with the election and one current member did not seek reelection
  2. When the announce the new enrollment numbers it will be interesting I have had parents tell me the sent their children to Adams because they did not see Clay open in 4 years. If numbers continue to drop they cannot continue to keep open all of their buildings but they are afraid if they close one it will become a charter school and more students will leave. There are many issue in some of the middle schools (Jackson, Edison, Dickinson) with education and staffing. They keep hiring consultants and spending money but have no real clue what the big issue is.
  3. That will never happen. I went to a facility meeting and 99% of the people were there to hear WHS will not close
  4. I would like to hear more from people in the know about SB schools. I heard Milt Lee talk to the school board and it seemed like he talk the talk is he walking the walk. Both Washington and Clay enrollment is in the hundreds. Comments of Clay closing as a traditional high schools has hurt. In all honesty I think SB need 2 traditional high school and one magnet high school.

  6. Yes, the have open enrollment and put ads in the paper how many transfers they have opening for. I know 2 families who drive their kids up there
  7. Why do they let it go? It would seem it could bring about more issues among the ranks

  10. DO they not pick up Mishawaka week 2 next year? Also when the Cathedral series is over did they not sign for 4 years with Carmel? Their issue may come down to who is available and wants to play them the week Penn has an opening.

  13. The big match-up is Penn and Cathedral. Even though the Irish have lost they still are one of the top teams in the state. Penn could make a statement for 2022. Friday, Sep. 2 Bremen at Marian, 7 pm Elkhart at Morton, 7:30 pm Cathedral at Penn, 7:30 pm Kankakee Valley at Washington, 7:30 pm New Prairie at Lowell, 8 pm Osceola Grace at Jimtown, 7 pm Adams at Riley, 7 pm Clay at Hammond Central, 7:30 pm St. Joseph at Glenn, 7 pm
  14. I can see kids moving because they do not like the coach or do not want to play for the new coach. Open enrollment is that. Free to choose. Close to 1000 kids from SB schools are in the Mishawaka and Penn districts based on information gathered. I invisiono more and more of this as it becomes wanting to play for a winner. Be part of a beter program to be recognized. And I wonder how many parents feel their kid is not getting a fair shake or the bast chance?
  15. I agree. Some schools sign off and otehrs do not. Kids should be able to play where they move to without penalty. Not sure how it works in SB when a kid moves from one h.s. to another
  16. 7 of Lakeland points were a kickoff return later in the game

  18. North Valpo @ Penn Penn (but gut says Valpo) Elkhart @ Concord - Elkhart St Joe @ Lakeland - St Joe Adams @ Northridge - Northridge Laporte @ New Prairie - New Prairie Mishawaka @ Marian (Mish) - Mishawaka South Northwood @ Jimtown - Northwood Bremen @ Laville -LaVille Glenn @ Boone Grove - Glenn Hammond Central @ Washington - Washington Osceola Grace @ Clay - Clay
  19. I was there. It looked like SJ moved the ball better. Neither team did much going the 65 yards. Closer n SJ had more success. Concaord has one really huge lineman and another one with big size. Think both were feeling things out and trying many combinations
  20. So, anyone go to the scrimmages and see anything to bring back Went to see SJ and Concord Concord has a huge OL Thought SJ moved the ball better than Concord No other real take away as they try different pieces to see how the kids react
  21. Elkhart hosts Mishawaka at 7 St Joe - Concord yes at 7
  22. That is interesting since we had those many years ago
  23. Are kids moving to play or play for a better program? Seems a lot of the college kids in the portal are hanging with no place to go. Or play for a bigger program thinking a possible scholarship down the road?
  24. So scrimmages up this week. Marian has Wawasee. St Joe is at Concord. ANy other interesting scrimmages. Not a big fan of there but may go and watch some of the SJ one to see the team with the new staff
