  7. But is not a program built in the younger grades? Do coaches who have been around for over 10 years get stale? Rest on their history? Have they adapted to the times? Sure demographics are changing but what is each staff doing to build off the change?
  8. This does not surprise me. Saw 1st hand when we played them a lot of work needs to be done and seems not much size either. The right fit would turn it around St Joe Job Deadline is Jan 5, 2022

  11. Lot depends on what each school is looking for. The criteria or pre requisites
  12. Unless something bizarre happens I do not forsee any more changes at the present time.
  13. So, there are 3 openings in the NIC. January could be an interesting month for 3 programs.
  14. Why not Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, and Michigan 2 games Lucas Oil?
  15. If you talk to many educators in SB right now Clay is not the school to attend. The enrollment is falling supposedly. SB need to downsize high schools and will not because they do not want a charter to take over the building. The corporation is not righting the issues they face. There are about 10,000 empty desks in their buildings. They could go to 2 traditional high school and one magnet high school (maybe with no sports)
  16. Redeemer Radio 95.7 Sports · Bryon Whitten has stepped down as head football coach at Saint Joseph High School. He was 23-45 in 6 seasons but did lead St. Joe to the sectional final this year. We appreciate all the hospitality Coach Whitten has provided Redeemer Radio & our interns over the years and him the best. Whitten will remain on faculty in the social studies department. “We are grateful for Coach Whitten’s service to the football program and to our student athletes,” Principal John Kennedy said. “For six years, he led the program with integrity and a commitment to the values of Saint Joseph High School.” St. Joe now begins the search for a new head coach. “We understand the importance of the search and we are committed to continuing the great tradition of Saint Joseph football,” Kennedy said.

  20. Area where factories have closed, people have moved out to the suburbs or farther, and demographics change attributes to much of it. Inner city schools are down enrollment wise and high schools should be closed like in South Bend but the school board is afraid of charters moving in and more students lost. Many cities in northern Indiana have seen a population growth in the Latino community. Goshen Elkhart, South Bend, Laporte so that is another aspect of the total picture and there is nothing wrong in any of these. How many schools this past year did not have a freshman team or a JV team or both? And why is that? The coach? Winning, Parent philosophy? This can be beaten up in many ways.
  21. Great letter and City has shown up many times when teams were successful. The fans that followed basketball under Doug Adams was unreal. I was in City the night of the semi state game. They paraded the team around the town prior to the game. Yard signs were all over. Business windows were decorated. It was so nice to see a community rally behind a group of young men. One high school towns do have an advantage to rally community support.
  22. It will take the right person for the job to build it from the bottom up Plus they are pulling kids from the SB public schools so if they can be successful who know who could follow Need to build the right culture and the community would support them

  24. True and they also sponsored at one South Bend St. Joe and Evansville Memorial along with Catherdal My uncle, who was a Holy Cross Brother was at Cathedral in the late 50's maybe early 60's. I would have to see before he went to Evansville Memorial as Principal. He also was at St. Ed's later in his ministry life.
  25. His base is supposed to be $7M and with the other benefits $9M He has taken them about as far as he could. Making the playoff is one thing but winning it? I think ND would always be a player or 2 short. Plus there is not more ND can give him. Swarnrick has given him everything he has wanted. Fickel has said ND or OSU are the only 2 jobs he would leave for. Could Campbell from Iowa State be on the radar?
