Elkhart Co. has a more diverse industrial base than South Bend (St Joe Co). South Bend while population is slightly up there have been no major businesses or places opening that would attract people. The housing areas in the Penn district continue to grow and there are SB families who have sent their kids to Penn. You do not see the size and physical nature of players like you do around Indy.

Lot of people in Northern Indiana wonder what has become of Penn football. It just does not have the interest and enthusiasm it did a few years ago. I am not sure what they could be lacking in facilities etc. over on their campus. Just seems a little strange yet Ben Davis has not been setting the world on fire over the past few years as well. Yet many looked forward to their yearly meetings in the past.

So, why would anyone want to play there guys?
-
Well our public school system is a failing mess

They just opened a new school here for soccer. But it is in a building and classes will be held. Is this the new wave for parents who thinks their kids are D1 in any sport?

I will not post it here but if you go to WNDU TV South Bend they have an interview with his Mom and some info on the accident. -

How do you play 2 games in 3 days with high school kids? Seriously?
-
The knew very little about this team on the TV today. Is it a legit h.s. or is it an on line high school? Not sure why theyw ere playing IMG Academy
-
It will be determined on Friday night. Last year when they met Glenn had the injury bug so I am sure there will be a little payback if possible.

I am not sure what is happening out at Penn. This year they are struggling. Valpo beat them badly and was shocked they lost to Laporte in OT. They barely had 200 yds in total offense. The Irish toasted them bi last year. Could be as bad if not worse this year.

Bishop Chatard @ Warren Central
ASJCPUMA replied to Warren Central Warrior's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Great when programs take on a challenge like Chatard is doing with Warren Central. This just will help the Trojans come tournament time. -
The highlight is Mishawaka and Elkhart. Watching the Cavemen last Friday night on TV you have to be disciplined in your defensive approach. If you commit too soon you are sunk. They key will be how well disciplined the Lions are. (wish they have been more original in a nickname)

I think Elkhart has to show they are reloading and not rebuilding. I watched the Marin/Mishawaka game and Mishawaka surprised mebased on what they had lost. Having a solid QB is a great beginning for any team. I lean to Mishawaka at home.

This week the St. Joe community said good by to Fr. Cam a long time supporter of St Joe and who was on the sidelines for many years. He died at the age of 90 and was buried yesterday in his hometown of Cleveland. He touched many students and athletes lives while he was involved at SJ. Up until last year every game we talked before the beginning of the game whether it was home or away. It will be a little strange to look across the field and not see him there. RIP Fr Cam, you lived a good faithful life as a servant of Our Lord.
