  1. Always great to hear from the Stink!!
  2. Perhaps.....but the weekly competition might have also taken its toll. Hard to predict. But he does seem like a talented young man. I think sometimes being from a big school and a top program at the 6A level doesn't always help. I think some prefer the awards go elsewhere......Also being from the same area can also hurt....candidates can cancel each other out.
  3. Seems Bears and Panthers getting more serious. The cheater's days are limited in Ann Arbor. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/jim-harbaugh-rumors-these-two-nfl-teams-are-already-discussing-michigan-coach-as-potential-hire-per-report/
  4. agree completely. I thought he pulled some votes....guessing he and Bell took some away from each other. His Southern Illinois profile below. He went there over Western Michigan and Ball State. https://siusalukis.com/sports/football/roster/ro-elliott/7875
  5. You original post did not indicate state championship in 2023. (see below) That is what confused me. While I agree the award is "supposed" to focus on only their senior year, I think it human nature for voters to look at a larger body of work. I believe in the Yeast case, it haunted him that he only had one year of playing high school football in the state. I believe that was a major factor in why the Indiana Gatorade HS football player of the year didn't win Mr. Football. I am not saying anyone is undeserving in 2023....actually, I've never stated that about anyone winning the award period. I just don't believe winning the state title should be considered as a key criteria. A plus...I guess...but we all know it takes more than one person to win a state football championship.
  6. Just correcting your error when you stated Cherry didn’t win a state Championship. He led his team to one last year. Additionally, winning a state title has never been a prerequisite to earning Mr. Football. I simply provided you an example of a past winner in which his team never made it out of a sectional. If winning a state title is now an expectation, the award is limited to 6 teams. I never claimed you stated anything negative about anyone. Just don’t align with your criteria.
  7. Quite the praise from Nick Saban….
  8. Former Center Grove standout DE earns Big 12 First Team honors!! Way to go Austin!!
  9. ??? Tyler Cherry led CG to a state championship his junior year and had a great game against BD in the semi-state as a senior. Not many teams put 30+ points on the Giants this year. Russ Yeast lost the award to a QB that never made it out of a sectional.
  10. What did he say that was incorrect?
  11. No outrageat all....young man from EC heck of a year. But the homer in me goes for Tyler Cherry, CG QB. One of the nation's top prospects. https://www.on3.com/db/rankings/player/football/2024/?position=qb 34 TD's, 6 picks and a 133.7 QB rating against a very tough regional schedule. (Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee schools) https://www.maxpreps.com/in/greenwood/center-grove-trojans/athletes/tyler-cherry/football/stats/?careerid=lf1091ae7k6p9
  12. Guessing he will bring his stud DT and occasional fullback Meany with him!!
  13. Very close. Flip Oregon and Ohio State.
  14. I think those teams have proven it. Washington would be undefeated beating Oregon twice. (my doubts about the 2nd time beating them) That is significant. They would be in no question. If FSU runs the table, huge accomplishment. Absolutely waxed LSU. Have been in the top 4 all season long until their QB was injured. I think they have a more than legitimate shot to be Louisville in the conference tournament. How do you eliminate a team that has run the table? They've held their ranking all season long. Texas...for the same reason FB16 listed...they beat Bama at their place...identical record has to go with head to head competition. True....against an Auburn team that has not been burning it up this year. Bama does not pull that off against Michigan, Oregon, Ohio State, Washington, etc.
  15. Great question...probably in terms of salary. Can always negotiate an Allen separation payment with the admin yo-yo's.
  16. Totally agree. I wish they would have stopped at 8 team in the playoff. Conference championship winner for each Power 5 (before one was dissolved over $$) and 3 at large teams. Would love to see at least one of the 3 at large's from a non-power 5 (4) conference if deserving rankings. (all else being equal) This would put more emphasis on conference champions with an automatic berth.
  17. Financially, the committee would love Texas to be in the playoff. Big time. If Florida State or Washington wins their conference championship, they deserve to be in the playoff.
  18. Wondering about Chris Creighton at Eastern Michigan? Before he took the program over, EMU was a doormat in the MAC. Being a former Wabash coach, he may have some ties to the Hoosier State. Another possibility?? Curt Cignetti has built a super strong program at James Madison, moving them from FCS to FBS.
  19. If you see nothing wrong how a college coach of a major national program acted, it speaks volumes. Stop trying to justify ridiculous, inmature behavior out of a coach because its your favorite team.... Point to me other college or pro coaches acting this way after a win. Shake hands, walk off the field and celebrate with your team. Be a man, not a child.
  20. lots jumping in the portal.....Donovan McCulley got my attention..... https://www.heraldtimesonline.com/story/sports/college/iu/2023/11/28/four-indiana-starting-offensive-linemen-enter-the-transfer-portal/71725796007/ https://www.si.com/college/indiana/football/indiana-football-transfer-portal-tracker-after-2023-season
  21. I am not sure they would destroy any team in the region, but FC is absolutely improving. Jayson West is a heck of a coach.
  22. I may be wrong...I was told multiple years, but my source could have been mistaken.
  23. Nah....a confident adult man doesn't need to talk when he wins. The scoreboard does that for him. He understands he needs to teach his kids much more than X's and O's. Its understood that his actions mean more than his words and the need to be humble. Can't imagine Tony Dungy or one from his coaching tree acting in that fashion. Based on your philosophies, I am thankful you never coached my children. As an ultimate "homer", you will justify anything if its your team. Making him the "victim" just like Jimmy. You are consistent...will give you that.
  24. Nothing like a coach being a mature “leader of men”. Didn’t think it was possible to dislike a program more than OHIO….
