You are one sensitive individual. He’s a QB…and a very good college QB. Thus the discussion. I’m not sure his passing abilities and other tangibles translates to a NFL game. Additionally, I think it’s more than a fair question to ask if he is making this decision based on possible knowledge his coach isn’t returning. That being said, I see a variety of thoughts as to where he will land in the draft. Some I read have him as the 5th QB taken…others not as optimistic. As far as your comment about what Coach sees in me, well perhaps you can elaborate. But here’s some advice, just refrain from commenting if the discussion upsets you…Don’t get butt hurt or feel you were put on this earth to defend the honor of each and every Michigan football player and/or coach. I totally agree. The NFL has changed so much. The NFL I grew up watching was so much about the run game, and loved watching "Sweetness" run wild at Soldier Field, Chuck Forman for the Vikes at the Met, etc. where inclement weather was truly a benefit to those teams. Today, the game is so different, facilities have changed, and certainly the emphasis on passing is so very different. I just think what used to be a possible advantage for Chicago is now no longer an advantage..its become a detriment. You are also spot on about these facilities being used for so much more...Super Bowls, NCAA Final 4's., etc. I think having a closed option stadium in Chicago will hurt Indy when it comes to hosting Big 10 football championships. I know its being opened now to consider other cities as I'm sure Detroit, Minneapolis and perhaps cities now out west want a piece of the Big 10 championship pie....a closed option stadium in Chicagoland I believe puts them at the top of the list. Lots of advantages moving forward with a new stadium for Chitown....and I think its only a matter of time.

They need to do something to either get off the lake or put a roof on one if they stay close. Hard to get a throwing QB excited about playing there now in the weather, especially in today's NFL.

Regarding relegation and promotion, the model you reference from the EPL is a professional league. Where would a team be relegated to? FBS to FCS? FCS to Div II? Power 5 to a mid-major conference? Such a model would destroy conferences and the conferences are for sports beyond football. Curious as to your thoughts. Regarding the teams that are currently relevant...doesn't that in many cases change over time? How many years prior had Georgia won a national championship prior to them winning a couple of years ago? Alabama was on a drought before hiring Saban. Washington hadn't been at this level in a long time before DeBoar. No bowl games? So mid-majors are just out of luck? I agree with you about NIL....or at least what it has evolved to. I though NIL was to compensate athletes for using their name, image and likeness. Somehow, its ran to upfront $$ like a contract, regardless if the institution uses their name, image and likeness. To me, its went way beyond what we were all sold about NIL.

At the end of the day, you are making an educated guess. In no way shape or form did I insinuate the official deliberately did anything. But he is human....with 70 reporting several times earlier, it is absolutely possible he heard 68 report, looked up and saw 70 running toward him and assumed it was him. Absolutely a decent possibility. That's all I am saying. The article I shared with you was from NFL.com regarding the need for both verbal and visual reporting. If that article was incorrect, I would have expected the NFL to correct it.

Perhaps...if one goes back and reads my comments, I don't excuse anyone...but when it comes to human error, I can see where both sides need to own this. I too have watched the video's over a number of times. The official absolutely could have seen 70 (as he saw several times earlier in the game) and assumed he was reporting again WITHOUT actually hearing his report, which has been pointed out is required. 70 has stated he never verbally reported. If he is being honest, then there was an error on the official's part by assuming 70 did verbally report. Do the Lion's players ultimately own the reporting...sure...no one is arguing they don't. But that doesn't mean the official did not err as well, and I am simply pointing out this possibility. After being on this forum for a long time, I understand the mere mention of a possible official error would lead to responses from you and Bob. Kind of like death and taxes, it was a certainty. What is telling about me and an obvious personal flaw on my part is inability to ignore your continuous ignorant posts....such as the one above. Perhaps the market is speaking....so many of these bowl games had terrible attendance...even with the New Year Day bowls outside of CFP. Perhaps people are getting tired of .500 teams and some sub .500 teams playing bowls. If players don't see them as important, why should people spend their hard earned dollars. On the flip side, it was nice to see Bo Nix (Oregon QB) play his final game in an overall meaningless game for him.

I understand his role...but he was first a journalist and one would hope there would be an ounce of integrity. This has also lost the STAR some business as well....I am hounded via email, social media, etc. for some pretty cheap subscription offers....I won't go back until he is gone. I don't miss it one bit. His own university that initially all but threatened to leave the Big 10 over the second allegation, immediately rolled over on him, shut their mouths and accepted the Big 10 punishment. But recognize who you are debating with...In his eyes, Harbaugh has and will always be the victim, and no amount of facts will change it. Now, where I do agree with Temp is about Doyel....he is a huge disappointment as a journalist. Sadly the Star and Gannett pay him to be nothing more than a $hit stirrer.
