Want to reduce college football Bowl opt-outs? Pay the players
Bash Riprock replied to Muda69's topic in The Next Level
Perhaps the market is speaking....so many of these bowl games had terrible attendance...even with the New Year Day bowls outside of CFP. Perhaps people are getting tired of .500 teams and some sub .500 teams playing bowls. If players don't see them as important, why should people spend their hard earned dollars. On the flip side, it was nice to see Bo Nix (Oregon QB) play his final game in an overall meaningless game for him. -

I understand his role...but he was first a journalist and one would hope there would be an ounce of integrity. This has also lost the STAR some business as well....I am hounded via email, social media, etc. for some pretty cheap subscription offers....I won't go back until he is gone. I don't miss it one bit. Too many news options -
I love how the officials run to one side of the fence every single time....of course, officials don't make mistakes. 🙄 Can you show me the NFL rule where it states a form of lineman reporting as a eligible receiver is the "brushing of their chest"? ..... I guess there no absolute way the official could have "assumed" 70 was reporting, correct?

You are wasting your breath Muda...of course he broke rules...not once, but twice. His own university that initially all but threatened to leave the Big 10 over the second allegation, immediately rolled over on him, shut their mouths and accepted the Big 10 punishment. But recognize who you are debating with...In his eyes, Harbaugh has and will always be the victim, and no amount of facts will change it. Now, where I do agree with Temp is about Doyel....he is a huge disappointment as a journalist. Sadly the Star and Gannett pay him to be nothing more than a $hit stirrer. -

This article claims the Chargers are gaining steam in getting Harbaugh as their next head coach. I can see this because of their home, stadium and most importantly, they have a QB. Would be good to get him in the pros and out of the college game, given the need to follow rules. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10103414-jim-harbaugh-rumors-chargers-have-gained-steam-as-fit-amid-michigan-hcs-nfl-links Finebaum confident he is leaving Michigan. -
70 stated he did not report…he clearly walked toward official. I don’t think he’s lying. Because of past reporting, I think the official heard #68 and assumed #70. Think it was a simple assumption error that ended up being a game changer. But, guess we are all speculating unless down on the field. Hope the NFL actually investigates, arrives at the true error, and works to eliminate future failure potential. This error will result in more than a game, it will impact playoff seeding.

I guess we shall see about the trenches....looks like UDUB received the award for the nation's top offensive line. As you stated, Penix does not need much time, the UW's receivers will certainly stretch the field. I do agree Washington will have to commit all 7 up front to stop the run...so their DB's better be on their game. https://www.si.com/college/washington/football/husky-offensive-line-receives-moore-award-as-nations-best Washington having their RB injured does not help them at all.....

Your speculation about Saban's integrity as a coach could be correct. But what we know for fact is this...Saban has never been suspended during a season for rules violations, let alone 2 different suspensions for different rules violations during same season. Another fact...I am no Bama or SEC fan by any stretch..... -

Excellent reminder.... People forget there is a massive difference in the college vs pro game. Not many have started in college and transition to a HOF NFL coaching career...exceptions such as Vermeil, but not a ton. Bottom line, no coach is going to be successful in the NFL without a quality QB...especially in today's NFL. The latter is why the news about the LA Chargers now in play for Harbaugh is so interesting. They have the QB...and that is the key first piece. Additionally, they may be open to giving Jimmy Boy more front office power without a GM in place. This one will be interesting to watch. He just may be headed back to Cali...SoCal this time. -

Then simply shut your mouth. The issue was you embellishing Michigan’s opening 3 opponents when we were discussing McCarthy’s stats earlier vs later in the season. You go with rambling dissertations about nothing in general. Just blowing hot air. We get it…you are nothing more than a Wolverine and Harbaugh butt sniff. Sad part, I’m a big 10 guy..but got choose between a cheating program vs Bama. Not a great choice. Enjoy the game…and try shutting your fat mouth when it comes to making comments about wives, you keyboard coward. -

We agreed the back half of the schedule offered a higher degree of difficulty for Michigan. But then you attempted to embellish the first part of their schedule by stating Bowling Green and UNLV played in bowls. Big deal. They are programs that Michigan should run over and you know it. The first 3 games for Michigan offered very little for the Wolverines in terms of competition for non-conference games. Would have liked to seen them challenge themselves a little more, but worked out for them. The way Penn State and OSU played in their bowl games doesn’t overwhelm most with Michigan’s overall schedule this year -

The discussion was Michigan’s first few games this season and your attempt to make these programs look stronger than what they are. UM rolled East Carolina, UNLV and Bowling Green as they should have…with or without Harbaugh. All are mid majors period. No shock Michigan QB put up good stats against those teams. Stop trying to deflect and change the topic of the conversation. -

I do as much homework as you, just don’t wear rose colored glasses jock sniffing my favorite team. You can’t have it both ways…you claim QB stats are down because of a tougher schedule at end, then try to defend quality of first few games. For Michigan, they were cupcakes and you know it. So stop arguing because you are bored. -

I shared a tweet. That’s all. But we do agree…UM opened up with a cream puff schedule….during Jimmy’s first set of games suspension. -

Ok…if I follow your logic about Kelly, then why hasn’t LSU been a lock for CFP the last 2 years? Saban also won a natty at LSU…in either his 2nd or 3rd year at the school. I’m not knocking Kelly…just don’t see him at the level of Saban. Please know I’m not in any way a Bama fan or a Saban guy. -

But they haven’t, so…. He obtained that talent over the years by resurrecting and sustaining a top tier program in arguably the toughest conference. You make it sound like a walk in the park… Kelly has absolutely no excuses now when it comes to academic standards… -

Dynasty Rankings
Bash Riprock replied to whiteshoes's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Derek Moyers had some excellent years at Pike during his tenure. 14-1 in 2007 with their lone loss to Carmel in the state championship. 7-3 in 2008, 9-2 in 2009, 9-3 in 2010, 9-4 in 2012, 7-5 in 2013 (as previously mentioned). In the 2009 and 2010 eras, I remember a couple of excellent WR's...both I believe went to Univ of Cincy, with one of them really making a mark. I am sure other players on his rosters that played college ball. -

Georgia won last 2 years. Their prior championship was 1980. Since the CFP, you are correct that only Bama, UGA, Clemson, LSU, and Ohio State have won championships. Perhaps a select few will be added into the equation. But the “football rich” schools will continue to seperate themselves under this equation. They are undoubtedly a football rich school.
