Context my friend. That scrimmage was played the week before the season started and Knox held out at least half their starters on both sides of the ball. Not to mention their top two RB’s. Maybe Tippy did the same thing, maybe they didn't, I don’t know. Tippy was good, had a great season and they should be proud of what they did but to say they would beat Knox by at least a td based on that scrimmage and using that logic to establish opinion against Chatard is premature.

Call it what you want. I've seen a lot of Valley film, Knox film, and Chatard film. Out of the three teams, Knox is the least impressive of the three.

  2. LCC wins this one. Outside of Snider in Fort Wayne, wasn't impressed with the SAC at all this year, and Luers didn't even have to play them this year. If you can defend a fade and keep contain on a HB toss, you can beat Luers. LCC will be able to do that. In my opinion, the two best teams in the North met each other back in week 2 of Sectionals.

It's common anymore. I'm not sure there's a team in the state that travels now as well as they did 20 years ago.

A lot easier and cheaper to log onto ihsaatv and watch a game than it is to travel and pay to get into a game. Not saying I agree with it, just the way it is now.

By "they" I mean the students. Kids who have never been enrolled in a public school cannot be considered transfers.

And I said I never saw it that way until Foxbat explained it in further detail. Never been involved with a p/p school. I've just always been told they recruit and bring in transfers and that's why they are always as successful as they are, unfair advantages they have, etc...,

So you think those kids who were in parochial schools since preschool are freshman "transfers" to parochial high schools because they had "choices". They don't belong to the state!

In my opinion yes to the first statement. Truthfully don't know what you mean by the second, when did I say or infer that they belong to the state, not sure what you mean by they either, are we talking about the schools or the students?

That's not necessarily the case.  I think it also misses a fundamental aspect that, the real issue of transfers should be tied to the idea of high school interplay.  If you've been attending Catholic schools since elementary school, I'd say that the term "transfer" really doesn't apply to you if you attend a Catholic school for high school.  To some extent, that also applies to Christian school elementary students who attend Catholic schools for high school.  Here in Lafayette, the local Lutheran school only has grades K-8, so if a family wants to attend a religion-oriented high school education, those students tend to either attend LCC or Faith Christian ... neither of which is Lutheran, but both of which have Christian education.

At the same time, if you've been attending public schools through 8th grade and end up in a p/p school for 9th, then sure, the term "transfer" applies.  With that said, there are some parishes/pastorates; especially now with the issue of pastorates in play, that could very easily have Catholic elementary schools that could feed into more than one Catholic high school or into a high school that's not even close by.  And there are also exceptions that you can see based on offerings.  For example, Sacred Heart in Fowler has Pre-school - 6th grade.  I could very easily see a family doing pre-K through 6th at Sacred Heart, then traveling to LCC down in Lafayette for junior/senior high ... or even doing pre-K through 6th at Sacred Heart, 7th and 8th at Benton Central and then 9th-12th at LCC.

And before folks write that off as not likely, there was a young man who played youth ball up in Benton County and then ended up at a local Lafayette-area public school for high school.  A back-up player who was at that school, perhaps seeing the writing on the wall, ended up departing to a different Lafayette-area public school his senior year to be a starter if I'm not mistaken.  There's also another young man who played all of his youth ball out of one of the TippCo county schools, only to end up at a Lafayette city school for high school to then end up in the northern part of the state for his senior year.

When explained like this I can understand and support the non transfer idea. The way I see it though, p/p's don't have a true elementary or middle school most times than not. So when they come from a "feeder school" that they still have options on where to go and they choose a p/p, I see that as them transferring in as freshman. Others may not see it that way but that's what I see it as. Again I understand many especially those more linked to p/p's don't see it that way but just my opinion on the matter.

The 4 or 5 that we have came from a public school.  The rest on our roster went to our feeder p/p schools.

Okay, so explain to me how the feeder school works. Because from my understanding, most p/p's don't have their very own feeder. The feeder school can go to multiple p/p schools in an area.

Also may just be a coincidence, but every time those 4 or 5 transfers come into a p/p, they end up being some of the best players on the team. Might just be a coincidence tho.

  8. If teams win state in a two year period (at least in the lower classes) its because they have a really special player on their team or a special class that wins it usually around their Junior year. Rather than letting them coast through another state championship, and then letting the poor underclassmen who have to fill those huge shoes in the next class happen, I think if you win a state championship you should just bump to the next class for the following year. Keep the rest of the success factor in place, because I honestly I think for the most part it works, but just add that little piece. Yes you will have to reclassify every year and realign but if it balances out competition and the classes I think its worth it.

Yeah I was at that game.  You could almost literally hear the wind go out of the Winamac crowd at that point.  I think there was also a Timmy Mills KO return for a TD in that one too.

Kind of depends on whether you wanted to get smoked or beat to death.  Both squads had offensive weaponry, but those 2009-2012 LCC defenses just laid the lumber to everyone.  Had this picture that kind of summed up LCC's defenses of those years.  This was a post-season game up at Pioneer ... I think it was 2011.

Yes, 2011 would be correct for the picture because I was actually wrong. Danny's senior year was the 2011 football season, not the 2012 year.

I remember in 2012 with like 50 seconds left before half Central Catholic threw 4 passes to score a TD right after Winamac got within a TD and CC had zero time outs. I looked at my girlfriend and said "it's like watching Monday night football " haha.

Barrett was also a very special player.

The 2012 team would have been Jackson's brother Danny. Never had to play those LCC teams with the ghost on it. Grew up watching them though. If I had a choice between the two I'm not sure there is a right answer on which team you want to play against between the 2012 team and the 2015 team.

  11. Honestly, the coolest part of the story is the kids commitment. Commitment to his home town, teammates, and coaches. His commitment to a MAC school when he could've gone to a more prestigious school by the sounds of it. His leadership on and off the field. I've watched a few of Triton Centrals games on IHSAATV. The kids a very talented QB and football player. It sounds like his character and who he is as a person is going to take him even farther in life.

Put the bong down. Private schools will likely only win 1A and 3A.

The rest of your post is pure nonsense.

No bong, just pure busch light running through these veins. And I'm okay with you calling my post nonsense. Just wait till after all the privates in 2A, 4A, and 6A are eliminated before you do it

  13. Cathedral by 100, and then the rest of the games don't matter because Cathedral is gonna win the rest of them after that. And then all the other private schools are gonna win their classes like they always do. Except for 5A cause there aren't any in the class. In fact since 2015 the only private to win 5A was Cathedral. The lowest number of private school wins in a class since 2015. Hmmm the only private in 5A runs through it for two years. Coincidence...I THINK NOT!!! All the private schools must just have more tackling fuel than the rest of these public schools have anymore.

    (Insert SARCASTIC shocked face emoji)

Well duh ....and until the IHSAA takes a more hardline stance (which they won't), it will continue to happen. In this regard, I actually side with the p/p's. At least they are open and honest -They HAVE to recruit, or their school won't exist. Public's who call and poach top athletes from other schools, that is just public on public crime. I'm still from the old school of "Play with who ya got and who grew up in your school system" ....some don't feel/think that way.

My momma said never side with the p/p's!

I think this one is gonna come down to coaching. Which coach can make the right and best adjustments. That's gonna decide this game.

I don't feel like LaVille is getting a fair shake here. If you watched the LaVille vs Andrean game, it really wasn't as close as the score suggested. The 59ers had a couple big plays to keep them in it. LaVille had their way with them most of the night.

I will say that LCC's passing attack will be the best that LaVille has faced so far this season. LaVille likes to bring backers on blitzes. If they can't get to the QB, it's gonna leave someone wide open.

We'll see how this plays out. JH has it 28 - 21 in favor LCC. I think it will be a close one. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go either way.

LCC wins this one by 10+. LaVille is not that good. They are not playing on that “mosh pit” they call a field. QB is a good athlete but will make mistakes throwing the ball. LaVille secondary weak especially one of their corners. Metzger will have a field day.

My momma said someone has to be wrong here!

Yep, all you need is 11.... For the record I didn't say we were out-manned, I just pointed out the correct roster size and gave you a comparison to FJ Reitz and East Central. EC will be bigger, faster and stronger than us at every position (unless they still have the girl kicker), but we still plan to show up on Friday night.

I know you didn't, and I also know where the other guy was coming from. It just rubs me the wrong way when it got mentioned by someone earlier in the conversation that Memorial is playing in 4A with an enrollment smaller than most of the 3A's left in the tournament. Not a lot of other 3A schools left in the tournament, other than Chatard, has 55 players on their team and that is probably including freshman. I applaud Memorial for maintaining their success factor and staying up in 4A, where they belong in my opinion. Yes they are 3A school enrollment, but football enrollment they are 4A if you know what I mean. 55 non-freshman players...never experienced a practice with that many but I bet it'd be freakin awesome.
