Not sure what can be assessed comparing games.
Pioneer had chances to win against Triton and Pioneer got avalanched in first quarter against Knox. NJ got spanked by Triton and led late vs Knox.

I believe Triton has the best athlete in Shively while Knox has the best two running backs and they are dudes.

    should be interesting.

My mama said don't take the spread for either team. Just hammer the over and watch both offensive teams open up a can of whoop-a$$

Maybe LCC in 2015 or 2019, but not the four-peats in 2009-2012 and probably not the 1999 or 1976 teams.

Incidentally, I believe that @BendNotBreak and others responded skeptically to your post about the current AC team winning in 90% of the 1A championship games over the years, not that the current AC team isn't competitive or above average.  No one is saying anything bad about the current AC team in their own right.  There is, however, a difference in being an above average championship team, which typically tends to get you to LOS, and being a team that could claim to be classified as the top 5 out of 50 teams in the last 50 years.  You might be able to make a claim of top 10 out of 50, pending the results of this season, but top five looking at the 2009-2012 LCC teams, that monster Pioneer 2018 squad, and the likes of the Sheridan squads in the 2005-2007 seasons and also the 1998 squad is not that likely a feat.  Matter of fact, I'd even contend that there are some squads that didn't make it to LOS that would be in the running for top squads.  That Pioneer squad from 2009 and the Sheridan squad from 2011 were probably the second best teams in 1A in those respective years that never even made it to LOS.

Couldn't beat the 2015 team either in my opinion. Played against that team in high school, not fun. Not as physical as the 2009-12 teams, but so much talent on that 2015. Jack Kiser said the best Pioneer team he ever played on was the 2015 Pioneer team with his brother, and Pioneer lost to LCC in the regional that year 31-14 I believe. 2019 is the only one I would say they have a shot against.

Nothing would please me more than to demolish NJSP at home for the 3rd straight year. And all the chirping the week leading up to said demolishing.

It will probably happen. AC has another great team this year.

We'll probably all be sitting at home watching Lutheran beat you for the 3rd year in a row at LOS as well. Goodluck the rest of the year and in the tournament.

  4. The only part of the game I didn't like from the Irish was the 3rd and 19 prevent looking defense from the 25 yard line. Free releases for all the receivers, guys covering grass not a man, and the ball ends up on the 2 or 3 yard line. I, in general, can't stand prevent defense. Isn't every defense a prevent defense. The object of any defensive look is to prevent the team from scoring. So play your Cover 1 and 2 high safety man under look you've played all night that has only allowed 10 points the first 59 minutes of this game and get off the field. You've recruited dawgs to go out in games like this and be dawgs. Let the be dawgs. Anyone can lineup from 5 yards from the goal line and stand in one spot. Just my personal opinion on prevent defense, not necessarily the Irish.

  5. While I will agree, Andrean isn't as great as they have been in years past the thing I have noticed while paying attention to this team is constant improvement every week. At the beginning of this year, I would have said this is going to be a beat down by Chatard. While I think Chatard is still the favorite, I expect this Andrean team to battle. I think they are starting to figure out they aren't the same run heavy team they were a year ago. The QB can sling it and is also a very underrated runner when things break down. They still have fantastic athletes at the receiver position, and defense is solid as always. The regular season isn't going to produce a flashy record by any means, but the 59ers are going to be very dangerous come playoff time with the schedule they have played. With what sounds like a pretty banged up Chatard team, I look for Andrean to make this a competitive game throughout the night.

  6. I think if anyone has a shot to take out AC this year, it's going to come in the regional with Carroll(Flora). Great size and speed. I don't think AC is as good as they were last year. Now, interpret that however you want because they are still good this year. I just think they are more beatable this year. I don't think anyone touches Lutheran for the next four years. I think by the time they hit 4A they might get slowed down.

On the flip side of the North I think it will be an HNAC team in the Semi-state. What team will it be? IDK, good question. I'd say North Judson right now just because they have that experience of playing there the last two years, but it's a toss up.

  7. I blame the IHSAA Champions Network for a lack of home field advantage. While it is great for watching other games around the state on the weekend for me, the games are also shown live on the network which means its a lot easier and cheaper for families to watch a free live stream at home than go to the game which means less people in the stands. Is this the real reason for lack of home field advantage? Idk, but it is definitely a reason for a decrease in people being at games on Friday nights in my opinion.

I have watched film on Tippy Valley this year

1st thing 1st:  What a shame, that TV has to drive by Monticello and West Lafayette to get to Northern Hamilton County for sectionals, just saying

Now to the team itself, they are Senior loaded, 17 of 22 starters I believe Seniors.  #4 is electric with ball in his hands, he I believe was state qualifier in 200 last spring, I can see why.

Their OL is BIG and strong.  They have a nice scheme of power running mixed with PA passes and utilizing their athletes

Defense is nasty and brings it down hill.

Final Thing Final:  What a shame, that TV has to drive by Monticello and West Lafayette to get to Northern Hamilton County for sectionals, just saying

Very electric, but not the state qualifier. #29 Wade Jones was the regional winner and state qualifier.

Put this team in any other sectional in the North  for 3A than the one they are in and they win it. Tough sectional realignment two years ago for the Vikings

Culver at Caston: I think Caston finally gets a win and can build their confidence. Caston has a good physical YOUNG group. Culver 6 Caston 21

Knox at Pioneer: If Pioneer sits their QB and FB then Knox all the way. If Pioneer doesn't it'll be close and I think the winner wont be known until the 4th Either way With QB and FB Knox by 7. Without Knox by 21

Laville at Glenn: I think Laville comes out with vengeance here. It seemed they had multiple times to score but didn't. If they can capitalize against them It'll be hard to beat. Laville 28 Glenn 7

North Judson at Triton: After the Pioneer games it seems that if you can game plan to stop Plummer, you can win. With ANOTHER on of his weapons sounding to be out, North Judson just needs to lock in on him.  North Judson 34 Triton 7

Winamac at West Central: If Winamac comes out like they did against North Judson then it'll be hard to stop them. But what are the odds of that happening again? Winamac 13 West Central 14

If North Judson locks in on Plummer this week, Shively is gonna run all over North Judson.

  10. Anyone seen John Glenn play yet this year? They have some of the most odd/interesting scores I've seen from a team this year. Not sure what to expect. I mean they get absolutely destroyed by Knox who just beat laville by only a score (should've been more in my opinion, one touchdown called back and a fumble inside the five can't do that Knox) but then come back and beat Bremen by 42. Just don't understand but anyway think that will be the game of the week.

    Caston will win

    West Central will win

I think Triton and Judson will be a fantastic game that Judson pulls out the win

I don't think Pioneer stands a chance, especially if QB and FB don't play. Definitely their two difference makers right there. Knox's two running backs and quarterback are just too good.

I dont see Rochester getting that far from the way Tippy Valley thumped them !

Rochester is a completely different team from Week 2. Not saying they should be the North favorite in 2A by any means. I think it might be the most up for grabs out of all the  classes. Also Tippy Valley has thumped everyone they have played so far this year. I doubt any team in 2A North could beat Valley.

I was not around then. What happened during the COVID season?

Just some teams played only 4-7 games during the regular season. I wonder if some didn't play any games at all. It could have nothing to do with it at all. I just know that was the year that all the schools were still wearing masks and whole teams were getting quarantined. I wonder if it just wouldn't have something to do with the reasoning for a lack of a full archive that year.
