  1. I haven't seen Carroll live since the summer but I think the Jays should be able to throttle the Cougars. Winamac, Culver and South Central would have won sectional 42. I wasn't too impressed with Carroll over the summer. Winamac threw on them and ran on them at will. LaVille could do it but I really don't think they'll get it done. Andrean is my pick to win 2A now without Luers. They've got a legitimate chance to go back to back (winning 2a this year and either 1A or 2A next season).
  2. And you said "If Judson beats LaVille and Pioneer they'll be the heavy heavy favorites." They only beat LaVille and they weren't the heavy favorites. Its utterly disrespectful to not even consider winamac the favorites going in. They were the defending champions, returned virtually their whole team and last years Judson team would have smoked this years Judson team. The elements and Winamac's offense never giving themselves a chance doomed them. But as a 98 alum from Winamac and being a lurker on this website for years. Its not out of the norm for winamac to be disrespected on here even when they are a quality, quality team.
  3. Yes. .I remember one year Hagerstown was predicted to win a game by 3 TDs. They lost by 4-6 TDs.
  4. Sagarin is decent for football. Spot on usually by end of season for basketball.
  5. Film sometimes doesn't do teams justice. Tri Central in 2013 looked slower than a turtle but once the game started it was pretty clear they weren't. Ive seen NJ live and other than Allen they don't have blow away speed but Owen and Quintin Frasure along w Aldric Harper are very very good linebackers. Allen is very hard to bring down in the backfield or tackle in general, the winamac kids had success getting to him but they weren't able to corral him a few times in the backfield. Whoever plays them can't arm tackle him and they have to wrap him up and hope help comes. If it's 1 on 1. He's gonna run you over majority of the time.
  6. I said my last words on the subject then some CMA guy hopped in. I am entitled to respond and then the Spanky troll hopped on.
  7. Winamac didn't leave the sprinklers on all week. They had been shut off for three weeks. If you are so confident on turf, then why did you guys say no to Winamac asking to play Saturday at Logansport?
  8. Winamac was up 4 touchdowns against Caston at half. They were up 21-0 against Culver at half and if memory serves me right scored on their opening drive in 2nd half to go up 28-0. Triton had 1 first down in the whole entire game and had 13 yards of offense. 7 of it came after a winamac fumble in the first Q to lead to their only TD. Those games were never in doubt. Knox, Pioneer and Manchester gave Winamac a good battles which they needed and Winamac had 1 day to prepare for Manchester. West Central first match up was bad. The 2nd they were up 42-0 at half and WC scored two TDs on the JV team and Winamac's jv scored the lone 6. You know John Hendryx. He doesn't run the score up on anyone...had he felt that way. The scores would have been more lopsided then they were but that's just not in his nature. He rarely ran the score up at Knox too. He always subbed guys in or split carries with guys. Winamac did try a couple "power run plays" but it rarely worked. That's like trying to ask a team that throws it 3 or 4 times to throw it 10 times in a game. Its just not gonna work. Winamac didn't have a "power running back"..so its gonna be tough for a team to run power running plays with no power running backs. Yes, Judson did play in the same weather but Cheyenne Allen is a power running back and Judson is a power running offense. The mud and rain played into the style they wanted to play. It slowed winamac down completely and it hamstrung what they could do offensively. Winamac will have some good teams coming up so I don't understand the first/second grade comment. The Sophomores and Freshman classes have some quality skilled kids with 2 decent lineman per grade. My sons grade (8th grade) and my nephews class (7th grade) have a few kids that can play. The 6th and 5th grade kids are pretty solid and the six grades 3 best players haven't even played yet. Winamac will be competitive and will churn out winning seasons as long as John Hendryx is there.
  9. Don't get me wrong. The jays out played Winamac by a bunch. It wasn't like they were drilling Winamac players and they were fumbling. Atleast two of the fumbles the ball slipped out of the kids hands as he was coming down due to the slickness. The ball just happened to fall where other Jays were. NJ fumbled four times and were able to jump on it. The ball bounced their way that night. The one pick Harper had was a great read by Alderic ..had he not made it, Brandt would have taken it to the house ..there wasn't a single Jay around him besides Harper.
  10. Lol...really? Winamac would have won sectionals 42 running away. It wouldn't have been close. Winamac beat Culver relatively easy after a two week lay off and I've seen Carroll play online and saw them over the summer when they scrimmaged Winamac. Winamac scored at will on them. So yes..the Winamac/Judson game was the sectional championship and regional championship game. you act like that game wasn't even close. NJ scored on a BS TD at the end, 3 of their 6 total TDs came on 4th down. Two were 4th and long. It was literally a one score game at half time and was a two score game for over 70 percent of the game. the field conditions helped NJ. It slowed Winamac down quite a bit and played right into NJ's wheel house. They are a power running team and in the mud that works. When you are a getting to the edge, relying on pulling and your speed..you are gonna struggle in the mud.
  11. They are and that's huge for those kids. I can remember when Pioneer used to bad at everything. My son, nephew and their friends were floored. All they know is Pioneer dominating at football, girls volleyball and softball every single year. i pictured a scene from rocky 4 last night when I heard the score early on (had to change the wordage) They are hurt! See they aren't a machine! They are human! good for LaVille. That gives them a big, big confidence booster for next season ..just hope not too much.
  12. I think AC's speed will be the difference. If they play in a monsoon. I'll take NJ.
  13. North Judson won't have a problem with Carroll. The Winamac/NJ game was the sectional championship and regional championship.
  14. What I'm trying to say is. In 2023 will be Triton's best season to win conference up to that point. They'll be similar to what Winamac was this season with a few 4 year starters, a lot of 3 year and 2 year guys. North Judson, Knox, Pioneer and LaVille (in no order) will be extremely tough next season and I don't see Triton beating any of those four but the year after will be Triton's best chance to beat them. Those teams lose great classes but will still have talent around but I'm not sure they'll have the talent to beat Triton that year. North Judson will be probably similar to what they were this year. A good group of seniors with a good group of juniors. I don't think their freshman are or will be as good as this years juniors so that's why I said probably. Culver will be so so and Winamac after a year of a transition period should be decent.
  15. Take out the and and put an "or". Knox is junior heavy, Pioneer and North Judson are senior and junior heavy. LaVille is offensively and defensively dominated by juniors as far as statistics go.
  16. Why would they have them go to separate high schools? Why wouldn't he just follow his bro and go to Andrean?
  17. Yup and when these sophomores at Triton are Seniors. They'll have a legit chance to win conference. Knox, LaVille, Pioneer and North Judson are senior and junior heavy it appears. Winamac was senior heavy and has a few talented sophomores and freshman but I don't think they'll be good enough to beat that Triton squad. North Judson has a great freshman squad and Pioneer's sophomores are decent but I think Triton's sophomore class may be better than both.
  18. It is. What's really helped Knox, Culver, Triton and LaVille is not having to play new prairie, Bremen, Glenn and Jimtown every single season. Its allowed the schools to build up confidence in their football programs. Next season you could see LaVille win conference or previously independent North Judson.
  19. Fans yes. Last I knew the conference as a whole didn't declare anyone. If they did. It was pretty easy to see Pioneer was. This year not so much. We as fans don't know how the Winamac Vs Laville or Winamac Vs Judson games would have went week 4 and week 5.
  20. No. They didn't do a conference championship last year even though it was obvious Pioneer was the best team, they shouldn't do one this season. I think had LaVille been able to play Winamac and had Winamac been able to play North Judson..then you could have decided who conference champions are.
  21. They didn't run the sprinklers there at all last week. They hadn't been on in a week or two before that. I think the Triton game may have been a victims of that+ all the rain our area had that week. The field was in poo condition as you saw it yourself, there was a reason why Winamac called Logansport last week. The field never recovered from that game and the rain last week made it even worse.
  22. I watched the same game you did. It was a 1 possession game or tied for over a half. It was a 2 possession game for over 30 minutes. Winamac was outgained by 74 yards and North Judson had the ball for twice as long as Winamac did. Some of it was the Jays forced Winamac on turnover on downs or to punt and some of the extra plays were aided by the ball popping out and bouncing Judson's way. They fumbled it a few times too but most of the time it had a Judson bounce. Winamac had multiple defensive stops. Judson did too. The field conditions hurt Winamac more than North Judson, I know you aren't willing to say that and that's fine. A team that has overall more speed is gonna be slowed down quite a bit in the mud and rain...when a team that relies on power football. It plays into their hands. BTW. Its not only Winamac fans that think Judson is slow or something. I work with a few Judson folks and the ones that follow NJ believe last years team drills this years Judson's team and its much slower.
  23. And yes, I know how much the NJ/Winamac scores were. Compton's sophomore year in the regular season that game was close until the final four minutes and that sectional game was tight too. The only total blow out was last seasons regular season match up. That wasn't close at any point. You know as well as I do that this years NJ team isn't close to last years team and Winamac's team was much better this year than last. It was just the perfect storm.
  24. I am not changing the narrative about last night. It was a 1 possession game for over half the game. It was a 2 possession game for over 30 minutes of the game. It wasn't like from start to finish the game wasn't even close. It was much closer than what you are willing to say. Yes Winamac did turn the ball over in 4 possessions in a row but Winamac did stop them in at least one or two of those drives when NJ got the ball back. North Judson outgained winamac by 74 yards and had the ball twice as long. I'm not changing the narrative. I'm just typing out facts. The last 14 mins is when it started to be a blow out. Judson did hit Clark hard but the rain also had a lot to do with the fumble issues too.
  25. No. Last night was really the perfect storm. The field conditions benefited North Judson greatly. North Judson doesn't have much team speed besides #40. They aren't too big up front either and they really like to run behind their center Brennen Benson with QB or their TB. A power football team where as Winamac relied this year more on speed, misdirection, pulling lineman, getting outside and throwing a little bit. The field conditions didn't allow Winamac to get any type of footing to play their style, any time a team went to the outside it was negative yardage. The score was 0-6 after one, 13-13 late in first half then a pick six to make it 13-20. Winamac kicked off to start 2nd half, got a stop then turned it over. North Judson's next possession on a 4th down they scored from 24 yards out. Winamac then got the ball back, turned it over late in 3rd and North Judson scored on a 22 yard seam pass and then 4 penalties in a row aided their last TD w 3 seconds to go. 5 TO's also hurt Winamac. It wasn't really lopsided until late 3rd and all of the 4th. If AC or SA play Judson on turf or a good field. Judson will struggle w their speed.
