  1. Brownsburg had like 4 big boy plays from their wr and the rb that set up the scores. It wasn’t like they were consistently gashing the giants. BD coughed it up like 3 or 4 times in the first half. BB should have put them away early but didn’t.
  2. I know it’s bait, but **** you. What’s sad is you trying to undermine someone who is close to the school when it comes to the situation. If you have something more to add, please share it with the Wayne township PD. If your info is sensitive to any ongoing investigation, then you’re an idiot for opening your mouth in the first place since this is a public forum. I’m a soft, north side private school kid from Indy, and I felt perfectly safe at this game. I never once felt that I needed a bulletproof vest. I sat right next to the student section. All that I saw was a lot of passionate football fans having fun in the stands. It was awesome. 10/10 experience. Edited for brevity.
  3. I knew you were being tongue-in-cheek. I was simply trying to return the favor. Sarcasm is hard online, no hard feelings. Since I have the podium, The Braves are losing a good senior class. They were a winning group and - from afar - they seemed to really grow together and play for each other. That’s what makes me most proud. At times, the offense has looked as good as it has in years. The qb should grow with his class of receivers over the next couple of years. They have a talented sophomore RB and some returning size on OL. I hope the current D staff stays in place until the end of time. They have shown they can develop a stingy unit year over year. Same goes for the special teams. A bit of a bitter sweet ending. I wasn’t so sure how things were going to turn out after the first half in game 1 against chatard. But, credit to the players and coaches for getting better week over week. It was fun to follow along.
  4. Yeah I didn’t see anything of the sort all week. The only thing missing on your bingo card was not one - but two - fifty yard touchdown passes by the southsiders. I don’t think I’ve seen such a thing happen with my own eyes, that’s for sure.
  5. Brebeuf is able to force a punt to get the ball back with 4:30 left. A few nice plays puts the braves into scoring position. Roncalli forces a good stop on second down and then a strip sack on the roncalli 40 yard line on the very next play. Roncalli wins 21-14. Tough loss for the braves. They had a real chance to win. Roncalli played well enough to win and turnovers were ultimately the difference in the result. Immensely proud of the effort. That was a proper sectional championship game.
  6. Penalties pin Brebeuf back after the roncalli td. Brebeuf throws a pick 6 from their own 20. 21-14 roncalli with 9:30 left.
  7. Another long touchdown pass over the middle for roncalli. 14-14 with 10:30 4Q
  8. Roncalli found some success with qb power and outside runs with the rb. They should honestly run the sweep all night. Brebeuf continues to do a great job with the inside run D. Brebeuf has been largely unable to move the ball consistently. A good run or two, but almost all of their yardage in the 3q came from screens and penalty yardage. And yet, with a minute left, a long touchdown pass for Brebeuf. 14-7 Brebeuf leads at the end of 3.
  9. Good mix of inside and outside runs for roncalli. Followed up by a play action slant/post that went for a 50 yard td. 7-7 early 3rd.
  10. More or less agree with what’s been said here. My only insight is to point out the obvious that the braves need to churn out some first downs on offense. Not ideal to give roncalli 10+ possessions where they can simply lean on you with their run game. I had a feeling the braves defense would stand tall - especially early in the game. Thrilled with that 4th down stand after a pretty disastrous last 2nd Q possession. Braves lead 7-0 at half. I expect roncalli to come out extra physical in the third. We’ll see if Brebeuf has the legs to withstand for the remainder.
  11. I don’t follow Mooresville all year. I’ve read that their QB has been their all star and has been that guy. He made some amazing plays. BUT, I did not understand the game plan tonight. A lot of finesse instead of forcing the issue with a big qb. Brebeuf did a really good job of spreading their DL wide to contain the pocket. I was expecting more inside zone/qb read runs as a counter.
  12. PAT is good. Mooresville throws INT on the ensuing drive. Brebeuf tacks one on. 35-14. (Unofficial) Final stats: Yardage even. Mooresville had more of the ball. Game could have been over at half.
  13. Always loved chatting with the refs before a JV game. One of those things where we can celebrate each other in our combined misery/love of our beautiful game
  14. Look, I’m not to complain about the refs because they’re some of the ultimate “football guys.” But, this crew at the mooresville-Brebeuf game is B-A-D bad. Multiple missed calls (a clear intentional grounding and an inadvertent whistle on a blocked punt for td). Then 4 personal foul penalties in a span of 5 mins on the game clock. 14-7 Brebeuf leads at half.
  15. Probably not. The game against Mooresville looks like a fun matchup on paper. I’m interested in seeing how the braves match up in a 4a sectional for the first time. Roncalli showed during the regular season that they can simply run their game plan and grind down Brebeuf in the second half. Brebeuf is a couple horses short of having the depth to compete in the trenches with the top teams in the state. Plus, there’s no guarantee that matchup happens. I don’t know much about northview, but mooresville is more than capable of advancing to the finals from the top side of the bracket.
  16. Didn’t know about Wooten. Pretty sure there are multiple Purichia’s scattered through the Ritter record books. Ritter has always lost talented players to other schools but something seems off based on the past few years. Do you think it is the rise of Covenant Christian and resurgence of Speedway that are taking away the “immediately local” (for lack of a better phrase) players, or did football die on the westside?
  17. So it goes. There was the “push the pile” clip from Neddenriep’s twitter feed that caught my eye. 4 or 5 Irish defenders walking during a live play.. not something that you see every day.
  18. 71-0 against Lutheran last night. This was a proud program that would routinely punch above their weight from the 80s through 2010s. What gives?
  19. There were a lot of *really, really* good LBs and DBs on that 2017 team. Jay Higgins (now at Iowa) was in the middle and flanked by several multi-year starters. This year’s crop at LB is still awfully talented but not quite at the same level, imo. DL is definitely better with this 2021 team. Strickland obviously gets the most attention, but Childers is without a doubt an all-state player at DE based on production and talent. Zhang and Petrie are both pretty good as the interior linemen. Offensively, it’s a bit of a toss up talent-wise. OL had more size+experience in 17, and that team had a couple of game changers in Wright (who is probably the best slot WR and return man I’ve ever seen… at least in 3a) and Pressler who was a mismatch at 6’6. The 21 team has two pretty dominant WR with Annee and Walters. I don’t ever recall seeing too many teams having 2 WR each 1k yards and 10+ touchdowns. Both are capable of scoring any time they touch the ball. I also think it’s fair to say that the passing concepts in 21 are more sophisticated and better executed compared to 17. I think the edge goes to 21 for offense.
  20. First time, long time here. Not sure how Brebeuf is under the radar considering they have been a perpetual top 10 team for about a decade now. They would surely have more sectionals and regionals to their name if not for being gerrymandered into the sectionals of hell (seriously, Tri West goes south? Someone find me a map of Lizton -> WestLaf vs Indy -> WestLaf). Anyways, excited to see if the Brebeuf D front can cause enough pressure to neutralize the GibSo passing attack, and, likewise, if Brebeuf can limit TOs with enough pass pro to attack the GibSo secondary. Could be the game of the weekend! I’ll hang up and listen.
