So the pirate insider here… long story short. We are a different team since Valpo last time, so the good and the bad.. the attitude of the team has seem to change since our beat down by Chesterton. 2 of our seniors gave an interview on the radio and said we didn’t watch film at all since week 3 (loss to crown point.) and the last two week they did but it was Munster and Hammond central. Nither game was competitive. But both those teams are going in the right direction growing there programs so hats off to them! The last time we played Valpo merrillville dominated the game. But we also had a lot of penalties I believe it was 15 for almost 150 yards while Valpo only had 30 yards of penalties. Valpo has gotten better since the year has gone on. But they couldn’t do anything to counter the merrillville speed in secondary and linebacker level. Also in that game you guys can look back justin Marshall and Phillip roche both were hobbled. Marshall had sat out tue week before against Laporte and had a brace on his knee for a few weeks after. And roche was in and out with a hamstring and he sat the week after Valpo. The team is as healthy as we been all season. the Chesterton loss well that’s counted up to a lot of things. Chesterton came in with a great game plan and executed they also had there stud come back after being out most of the season. We were caught off guard by that. The wind was another factor not sure how fast the wind was but with there field in the open it was hard to throw anything down the field. Almost all throws both ways came on short little slants and screens. Merrillville also had a terrible game with punting and turnovers I think Chesterton avg starting foles possession was the merrillville 40… Chesterton won the game. We also had a few people walk away from the team at halftime of that game but I think the ones that stepped in are better. But I did notice the last 2 games merrillville defense was actually playing aggressive again which they hadn’t since week 1 and you could hear the hits(hard hits) up in the top of bleachers even when ball is at other end of field. The senior class has the team focused again. Back to back games the varsity offense put up 42 points right around the half. And the varsity defense only gave up 8 points in 2 games. We also have 3 pick 6s, 3punt blocks for TDS in last 2 games. If they carry this momentum forward….. Merrillville also the last 2 games has found a RB by committe approach. We have 5-7 different people who are running the ball depending on situations. Of course Marshall,stephens,young are gonna be the 3 major names but others have stepped up and we will see if it continues forward. Valpo is always improved under coach Marshall. I’m not saying this game will be a wash but from what I have seen on both sides.. Valpo still can’t throw consistently. And there defense can’t contain the speed of justin Marshall or our super sophomore John peters. But on the other hand merrillville at times has had issues with the run defense. Below is the stats from merrillville/Valpo a few weeks ago. prediction: it’s always dangerous going to Valpo to play. There is a lot of history with officiating and things of that nature. But I think merrillville makes a statment and continues there momentum and wins 42-10 I think we will all be shocked if they don’t

Again couldn’t be happier!! You should of heard our whole crowd rooting against crown point everytime y’all scored we cheered. 😂 we all stopped watching our game after we went up two scores. I had a huge group huddled around me with a Bluetooth speaker watching y’all’s game and snider/nortside

I couldn’t be happier!! Been saying they can’t complete with speed since week 3! They only beat us because coaches were missing I’m glad someone with speed proved my point!

You realize Andrean is moving into crown point right? At least according the the survey they sent home to parents asking about the move

do any of these schools get there 1st ever sectional title? if any I would go TPC and then Chesterton as a close 2nd Five schools are seeking their first-ever sectional title Chesterton (Sectional 10 vs. Valparaiso), Connersville (Sectional 22 vs. New Palestine), Pike Central (Sectional 30 vs. Owen Valley), Traders Point Christian (Sectional 42 vs. ParkTudor) HammondCentral (Sectional 9 vs. Merrillville).

Andrean should be getting a new school here shortly I’m think 4A enrollment. but bigger ain’t always better. There are probably only 10 schools in 6A consistently better than Andrean. Plus those Indy schools don’t wanna travel up here. It’s been said for years. They always want us there

Andrean is better for them then Lowell. Andrean is a 2A school that can play in 4A/5A

How are you all ginna feel when the WB leaves and they are back to winning 3? 4? Games? I’m telling you the team is a one man show. And other coaches after playing them are saying the same thing. Crown point will never consistently compete in the DAC. They get a year or two and then fall to bottom. But we will see! Come visit this next year!!

On talent they have a big o-line and a QB. That’s it. There defense struggles against everyone till the offense can get separation and force a team into being 1 sided. You will see when crown point plays in regionals that they may not even score 10 points. Coaching wise they are good. But the talent that everyone things they have because they are undefeated is a farce. They are so simple it’s not funny. And again they are only undefeated because merrillville didn’t have there DC when they played there were no adjustments by merrillville. They proved crown point can’t contain anyone with good skill players. Crown point has to play flawless against good teams to win.

Never criticize the staff. Just said they from merrillville which there two most important coaches outside buzea are from merrillville and they wouldn’t win with out those 2 wells, o Connell

They are OVERRATTED but Jeff hasn’t proven they can beat any good DAC teams. They get blown out by all of them. Crown point is 3rd best in DAC on talent. Jeff has speed but I don’t think they can force crown point to punt with there defense.

I don’t think snider makes it to semistate. But again y’all can say excuses but crown point would lose to us if we weren’t missing coaches. We had 2-3 coaches gone for a few games. But it is what it is

Laffyette jeff @ crown point: crown point struggled in 2.5 qtrs and allowed portage to lead most the game last week. But the adjustments made after the half changed the momentum of the game. Lafayette struggled early with lake central and recovered a fumble in OT to seal the win!! Crown points O-line is gonna be a major problem for Lafayette jeff and the speed for laffayette will cause some issues for crown point but it won’t be enough. Jeff falls to another DAC team in the sectional finals. Crown point wins this pulling away in 2nd half 42-17! merrillville @ Hammond central: merrillville beat Munster with ease last week. 2 fumble recoveries for a TD, 1 INT for a TD. Game was 42-0 with estimated 8mins to go in 2nd qtr. Hammond central fell behind early to Morton but was able to come back and hold off Morton for the win. Hammond central is excited to get a crack at another DAC team this year. But with Valpo beating them by close to 50 week 2 I don’t see merrillville having any issues here. Merrillville pulls away after the 1st qtr. 55-10 valparasio @ Chesterton: this is the game of the week in the DAC. Will Valpo prove they are still better than there county rival? Can Chesterton win there first sectional title in school history? They battled in week 5 and Valpo won the game 19-13. And if I remember correctly both teams had injuries to key players that were out for that game. I think the game being at Chesterton will give them some momentum in this matchup they will prove the gap between them and Valpo has closed a little bit. But Untill they close it I’ll stick with Valpo. Valpo will run as a team for over 300 yards and win this game 28-17

Only reason I don’t think it will be is the speed of jeff. I think the game will be closer CP/jeff than LC/Jeff

DAC schedule and predictions 6A S1 Crown point @ portage: crown point win this matchup in week 5 42-7 o don’t expect much difference this time around I’ll take crown point 49-0 Lake central @ laffyette jeff: lake central was looking like someone that would be in most games this year then the wheels fell off. Unfortunately still won’t be a .500 team. I’ll take laffyette jeff in this matchup 42-10 to set up a showdown with crown point that will be closer than people think! 5A S9 Munster @ merrillville: not much to say here. Merrillville comes off a loss to Chesterton and Munster is in the wrong place at wrong time. Merrillville 50-7 5A S10 Valpo @ laporte: Valpo won week 3 42-7 they also get there running back back I hear!! I’ll take Valpo by same score 42-7 chesterton @ Michigan city: Two teams going in much different directions. Chesterton is coming off a upset over state ranked merrillville and Michigan city got throttled by crown point. Michigan city won week 3 24-21.. with this fake being at Michigan city and then wanting another crack at Valpo… it won’t happen.. Chesterton advances to face Valpo by a score of 28-10.. will Chesterton finally win a sectional? They still haven’t in there history!!

The coaching staff is what will lose them the game.

Crown point is majorly OVERRATTED in my opinion. They will get out there sectional. Even though LJ will give them a game. Crown point is terrible against speed. And they only win games because of there big line. Once they out of there sectional they face teams with same size and they are in for a rude awakening I got them falling in regionals to Penn or carroll. And cathedral will win state Crown points team this year Couldnt beat any of the last 4 merrillville teams they got away with a win this year too.

That’s true but they named the 4 candidates and honestly right now I’d think they were right on the 4. But Luke is probably the front runner now.

Probably now. But beginning of year he was the consensus pick. At least according to Indystar 2 turnovers (1fumble, 1int) (4??? Turnover on downs)

I heard lake shore game night radio say he got in the game and split reps. But idk what he did I just know he got in. And tbh I think Bowen beginning of year was your mr.football. But idk now. But he definitely is the best football player in indiana

Laville will walk through whiting. But Laville hasn’t played anyone that has a guy near the talent of Notre dame commit drake Bowen. He is a man playing with boys! Takes a team to take him down: and if you zone in on him there WRs will torch you.

The QB returned last week that went out against merrillville week 1 if I remember correctly on radio.. he split reps with his back up. And the coach said it will be a game by game or a situation by situation basis because the backup had earned his spot to compete too. Personally I think they switch it. And go back to the one who led them to state.
