I think this could work well for TW and Danville who would likely stick together through any movement. I don't think the Montgomery County schools have any interest in splitting up into different conferences. I think Western Boone will always look at the Montgomery County schools and Lebanon as their main rivals and would want to stay in a conference with both. I could see Lebanon looking to move on to a more Indy-centric conference at some point but their football team doesn't really demand an upgrade in competition at this point. When they are at their best, they compete near the top of the Sagamore but they aren't ready to compete regularly against the Indy Catholic powers or larger public programs like Brownsburg and Zionsville.
As Old Red in Shawshank Redemption says, "Get busy livin, or get busy dying."

Here is how I see it. Frankfort moves to Hoosier East and North Montgomery to Hoosier West. Crawfordsville joins the WIC and makes 12 teams(that conference realigns Gold division-C-ville, Greencastle, West Vigo, Sullivan, Northview, N.Putnam Green division-Edgewood, S.Putnam, Cloverdale, Indian Creek, Owen Valley, Brown Cty). Southmont moves to Wabash River and makes 9 team conference. The remaining 4 combine with Circle City (TW, Lebanon, WeBo, Danville, Guerin, Chatard, Roncalli, Brebeuf). Only a dream, but sure to make good conversation.

At what point does the conference scrap the all-in conference schedule in Jr High/Middle School football? The current state is not productive for anyone. Multiple schools don’t have enough kids to play a full game. Lopsided scores are common. Any thoughts?

Kokomo style of play does not fit WeBo defense very well. I wouldn’t play this game either. Need to work something out with Peru. Or have Frankfort send the JV and take the L. Pelley could promise to pull the starters in the 1st.

I’m not 100%, but I heard Western Boone is looking for a game this weekend. Frankfort quarantine issues.

bump. Tri-West is fielding a freshman team. We still have openings. Possibly weeks 1,2,3,6,7,9.
-
Not much help for this year, but Tri-West is looking for a week 1 opponent for next year(2022) and beyond.

I wouldn't have a problem with this. However, it doesn't affect my school. One change I have mentioned on here several times is to make 5A a full 64 team tournament. I feel there is no need for a bye week in 5A. These school have somewhat unlimited athletes and resources. It would be better for the 1A tournament to have 32ish teams. Small schools have smaller rosters and more 2 way players. A bye week would help these schools more than it would 5A schools.

Danville 10.5
Tri-West 8.5
WeBo 8.5
Lebanon 5.5
Frankfort 4.5
North Montgomery 3.5
Southmont 2.5
Crawfordsville 0.5
This gets difficult to predict with sectional draw being important. A good draw could mean 2 additional wins for some of these teams.

There should be 32 teams in 6A.. The 32 teams with the biggest enrollment.
A 3-team sectional isnt a sectional. Its one game for somebody
Let Class 1A have the byes/ They need them. There's five eight teams sectionals in 1A
I think 5A should also be a full 64 team tournament. These schools have unlimited kids. All of the byes should be in 1A. Smaller rosters, more kids playing both ways, etc.

My only recommendation for next year is to have them seeded differently. Our bracket had the same teams as pool play.

Gillin and company did a nice job putting on this 1st time event. Very organized and clean. Bruins finished 2-1 in pool play beating Perry Meridian and Heritage Christian & losing to a very athletic LN team 13-12. In bracket play, beat Heritage Christian again and lost to LN. 3-2 on the day. Got some good reps for our young kids after we lost 4 seniors to mega camp after pool play.

Can someone post the schedule for this?

South Spencer is unique. There isn’t a track so the bleachers are right behind the benches. I assume it is the same. I haven’t been there since 2003. Also, Brownstown has a unique setup. The locals like to tailgate and watch the game from the street that runs behind the visitors bleachers. I assume they still do that. It makes you feel surrounded.

Covenant Christian gets kids from Eastern Hendricks county. Churches like Chapel Rock, Kingsway, and Plainfield Christian. Could be considered “feeders”. They occasionally get the IPS or big school transfer. But mostly stick to the local church schools.

If Columbus East and FW Snider are falling back to 5A then who will be replacing them in 6A?
I didn’t think that far! Lol! Either Zionsville and Valpo will move up and 6A will be reshuffled a bit or they will just leave those spots open in 6A. East and Snider can be added anywhere to make 5 team sectionals in 5A.

Guessing LCC will replace WeBo in 2A. WeBo will replace Chatard in 3A. And Chatard will move into 7 team, Roncalli 4A sectional. Hammond schools will stay where they are. Columbus East and FW Snider will return to 5A and make 5 team sectionals. Pretty easy transition for IHSAA.

Is the Covenent program pulling kids away from Ritter?
No, I see a lot of old time Ritter names on Chatards roster. And Ritter continues to take several voucher kids.

Tri-West is looking for a week 1 in 2022.

It was their principal. LOL. But yeah, hard to argue.
He’s gone now. Got caught up in the mess. We already got the next one in reclassification training.

Allow schools to opt out of the tournament and schedule another game or games. School could only opt out during enrollment count years. Another option would be to allow schools to petition the IHSAA to move down a class. Petition requirements could be socioeconomic factors, win/loss records, longevity of poor performance in current class, etc.

Who still plays a freshman schedule? Sagamore did away with it a few years ago because it was always a scheduling nightmare. Not enough kids to field JV and Freshman teams. Curious if other conferences are the same?

So let’s say the Sagamore is never breaking up. What four schools could we add to balance the conference and possibly split into large school/small school?
