Marsh is probably the more dynamic option so I don't mind if they use him more. He also has a heavy load playing defense so they used Taylor more throughout the season but this is the state championship game. He's every bit as hard to bring down and has more speed. My question is what can Western Boone do to get off the field on defense. Every time Luers needed a play they got it that first half. They got to the QB a couple of times but he just kind of threw the ball up and found his top wide receiver each time. They also did a poor job in coverage at least twice that allowed for alot of yards after catches. If they can't figure out something on defense, Luers could easily pull away in the 2nd half.

Agree. I thought they should've used a timeout early in half when they had Luers at 4th and 8. That was a huge opportunity to get a stop that they missed. Then I think they should've used their last timeout right before the fumble on the last play. Would've stopped the clock with 30 seconds or so left and given them a few shots at the end zone. Instead they looked rush and that probably resulted in the fumble. I can understand not wanting to burn the timeout in case you got tackled in the field of play but I just think with the time left and the spot on the field, the timeout was the way to go there. Until that point I thought they did a great job with clock management as they didn't want Luers to get the ball back with enough time to do anything.

Haha. Yeah the towns of Jamestown, Advance, Dover, Thorntown, Mechanicsburg, and Elizaville aren't exactly growing. Most people that live in or around those towns either farm or commute to Indy or Lafayette for work but these places aren't exactly the northwestern suburbs of choice like Zionsville or Brownsburg. Western Boone has been on either side of the 2A/3A line for a couple of decades. A few students either way has usually been the difference between one class or the other. The fact that they dropped a few students really shouldn't surprise anyone.

Next Weekend’s Schedule...
XStar replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Looks like they went with the traditional 2-4-6 and 1-3-5 alignment. That's too bad. There's 2 teams from the Sagamore Conference and 2 teams from Boone County. Unfortunately in both cases those games will be on different days now. -
Next Weekend’s Schedule...

It also might be interesting because they MAY try to schedule it to limit the # of people in the building at one time rather than maximize it. -
Doesn't matter what you make the cycle, if you view the SF as "punishment" then you will never see it as fair no matter what the cycle is. If you view the SF as an attempt to put teams on a level playing field, then it largely serves its purpose. Not perfect but I think it gives us a better playoff than what we had before. Once you master one level, you move up and work on the next one.

All Semi-State Webcasts Will Be Pay-per-View
XStar replied to gonzoron's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Will they spring for real announcers if they are charging for the games? Some of the high school kids doing the job are decent but I've also heard some that really don't understand football much at all that are kind of brutal to listen to. When you're listening to a free broadcast, it's hard to criticize though. -
Western Boone's OC for a number of years prior to this year.

Well, Comer has a history of success against Southridge in semistate games. Hope they find equal success this season.

Did a Google search and came up with this. If this is accurate, that Southridge game started at 2:00 (EST). https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2018/11/16/tucker-scjank-rounds-into-form-southridge-roll/2016114002/ "The No. 10 Raiders (10-3) will play at No. 1 Western Boone (13-0) at 1 p.m. CST on Saturday." I believe the Southridge complaint was the field though and not the time. That was the year before Western Boone installed field turf and some here did not like having to play on a grass field in November one bit.
