Cmon now, that is a bit of a reach. Those coaches had a very uneven playing field that was top loaded with 10-15 each year that were really good and a bunch of mediocrity behind that. Big 12 was Oklahoma and Nebraska and jack crap, Big 10 was Ohio State and Michigan and the little 8, PAC 10 was UCLA and USC for a while, SEC was Alabama, Florida and the rest were just there.
