  1. Certainly, and all of those schools had their pro’s and con’s. My wife and her brother both went to North Central (30 years ago). When we moved to Indy we moved into that school district (and my dtr was attending a NC middle school). Then a student was stabbed by another student in the HS hallways. Time to look for a new school before my daughter got to that danger zone. What was left was P/P if we wanted to raise the odds of that not happening to her (at least in our minds). We wanted something smaller (out goes Cathedral), not as expensive (goodbye Park Tudor & Brebeuf) and closer to where we were living (out goes HC and Guerin). Oh yeah, and the Chatard football coach shares a backyard fence with my brother in law. Not all choices in life are as simple as “let’s buy a ring for my kid”. Sometimes circumstances lead you home. At the end of the day there are far more important things than kids getting rings for playing a game that they love.
  2. Calpreps has this one at 34-14 on a neutral field. The long bus ride probably makes the spread a little wider. Guerin is the closest comparable on Sagarin to Knox and we know how that ended.Twice
  3. Yes. That would be easy. I can just switch jobs, sell my house, sell my in-laws house, move them into a nice place in the country nearby my new job and my new house, uproot my kid from all of her friends, ask my wife to completely revamp her life and quietly settle into a peaceful life of yelling at cows to stay off of my lawn. So easy a caveman (like me) could do it. Conversely, you can enroll your kid in a P/P in the city and drive them to school daily, pay the added costs to your wallet (and lifestyle) and join the privileged elites all for the honor of telling some dudes on a high school message board in thirty years that you once helped your kid win a state title in the sport of your choosing. 4. Wishing both teams a healthy outcome that is so mentally taxing that they forget to go to practice for most of next week and then overeat on Thursday.
  5. Chatard has two kids that start both ways but multiple that get snaps on both sides depending on the situation. I think the 137 includes the freshman team. They started with 52 freshman and ended with 48. An absurd number of kids in a class of less than 200 (about half being boys). That’s how you know the entire school has a football culture and not just the football team. That football culture is a huge source of pride and the school identity. Everyone participates in Friday nights: Students, faculty, parents, alumni, people who just live in the neighborhood. That culture and football champion identity is why so many of the CYO kids choose to go there.
  6. The biggest assist to P/P enrollment in the Indy area is the absolutely trash safety and education our kids would get if they attended an IPS school. Any of the public school parents out in the cornfields and mountains of this beautiful state should be counting their blessings that their kids get to participate in sports at the cost of only their tax dollars. Having to fork over more money as a parent just to ensure that our kids can go to a school where they do not have to pass through metal detectors daily and their education at least prepares them for college is not our dream. I wouldn’t mind at all if my kid could go to a safe, high quality school, win more than they lose in the sport of their choice, get to make great life-long friends and some day get to reminisce about the good old days. Until then, I want the highest quality education, environment and athletics for my kid if I am writing a check. If you think you wouldn’t do the same in our situation then you are lying to yourself.
  7. My apologies for the earlier multi spam of my comment. The submit button never registered that my reply was submitted. I thought I had website lag. Kept hitting the button. I’d already asked the mods to delete the long one.
  8. I am a huge fan of the “We are the poor oppressed” argument here and the P/P’s are the oppressors. It is the cry of every group that currently loves to hang and wave their flag of choice. The unfortunate part is that it ends up sounding like whining. I miss the old days (like pre-pandemic) when it was “Underdogs vs the Favorites”. When the underdogs would swear to fight like hell in the face of odds seemingly stacked against them. Their victories were the victories of underdogs everywhere. We celebrated the victorious underdog. Today that underdog goes by the name of the oppressed. They whine and cry about things being “fair”, need safe spaces and call everyone who has a differing opinion a name or pejorative of some sort. They love to “pwn” people and, in the end, nobody cares when they actually win because society is tired of dealing with the insufferable twerps. Now leave me alone cuz I need to find my VHS of Villanova Basketball beating Georgetown in the NCAA finals.

  10. Dammit. I thought YABT meant “Yes, @sshole big time”. I was wrong.
  11. How to beat Chatard: Stop the run. Possess the ball. Win the turnover battle. Their defense is really, really good.
  12. I encourage everyone to go and take a look at a little 1A public school team in Pittsburgh (Aliquippa) that voluntarily plays at the 3A level. They have won multiple 3A titles and, after being success factored up to 4A, won another state title. They were on the verge of being success factored up again to 5A (6A is the largest PA classification). They were prepared to sue the state to keep them at 4A. Again, this is a 1A public school. They also have 3 former players who are in the NFL HOF. This is a town and school that lives and breathes football. It permeates the culture. Nearly every kid dreams of playing for the HS team from the time they can understand what it means. This is a school of about 120 kids (boys and girls combined) playing and winning at 4A. Success factor works until it doesn’t. There will always be people with a good case for why any system is “unfair” (hint: nothing is perfect). The Aliquippa story is why I will continuously shake my head and laugh when people want to use success factor to punish teams while not looking inward at their programs to see what is broken. Again, this is a public school. Single A. Punches well above its weight. Why? Take some time and read up on them. What you will find is that it is 100% because of the kids drive and desire to be champions even against the toughest of odds. Even if you think I am a buffoon for my reasoning (you won’t be the first and my feeling won’t be hurt), read up on this school and team, it’s a great story.
  13. You left out her 40 yard dash time. Also please upload a video of her running a 3 cone drill and refer to her as a “Dawg” as often as possible to let people know that you are serious.
  14. Watched Delta play Mt. Vernon on youtube. Understand that it is midseason film and teams/players change. As I’ve said each week, the strength of the Chatard team is their defense. Good luck to any team with moving the ball let alone sustaining a drive that ends in points. If I’m the Delta coach I am pushing for a very low scoring game a la Guerin. Hamilton Heights stacked the box and challenged Chatard to throw or run outside which really worked for the first half. The problem I saw is that the Delta NT is 5’7 and maybe 175 lbs. Unless Delta can survive in cover zero I think the BCHS offensive line grinds down Delta. This will probably be another 28-7 game with Delta scoring late against the backups.
  15. @dazed and confused The first quarter and a half was good. Not sure the HH student section was wise in going with the “over rated” chant. It never seems to wake up the underdog as much as it does the favorite. I thought your defense played a very strong game. They just got worn down by the fact that your offense struggled mightily all night (til the second string defense went in for BCHS). Not sure who you have returning next year but good luck with the season.
  16. If the Huskies can stop the run they might have a chance to force 3-4 punts during the game. Special Teams is Chatards achilles heal. Your PR/KR might score 2 TD’s from a return and get good field position from some of the others. It is a field position game for them. Any team that tries to consistently go 70 yards to score against the Trojans will have a long day. Shorten the field to 30-40 yards and the chances to get them on their heels and have a chance at an upset are real. With that knowledge, it wouldn't surprise me if Chatard goes for it on every fourth down outside their 30 and puts every kickoff into the endzone. Looking forward to another parking lot takeover from the Trojan Horse tailgate and, God willing (ha ha ha) a running clock.
  17. Odds are good that HH scores a special teams TD. Their PR/KR has been good this year. Odds are also good that, like Chatards last two opponents, the starting defense doesn’t give up 150 yards. As long as the offense can score two TD’s (and the special teams aren’t as SpEsHuL) Chatard should move on. 21-7 is probably a safe bet. Get to the field before sunset. it is a beautiful view from the visitors stands as the sun sets behind the pressbox and home team stands.
  18. Chatard has their flaws but their defense is an absolute strength. Guerin probably had less than 50 yards in the first half and maybe only 150 for the game.
  19. Much respect to the Guerin Eagles tonight. Even though they ended up on the wrong side (for them) of a 21-10 score they fought hard and played with a lot of toughness and heart. They lack any big play ability and that was the difference. That and Chatard’s special teams were abysmal. Punt snap went over the punters head and he fell on the ball at the 5. The defense forced a turnover on downs. The offense went nowhere. Their punt from the endzone was blocked and recovered at the 3. BCHS should have taken the safety. Hopefully it was a lesson learned. Guerin was able to punch it in for the 7-0 lead. Later in the half a high snap on a field goal resulted in a miss for the Trojans and after Chatard forced a three and out to start the second half Chatard dropped the punt which Guerin recovered. In between that mess there were two 50 yard TD passes by Chatard. A field goal cut the lead to 14-10 but Chatard took the ensuing kickoff (which went out of bounds) and drove down the field scoring on a 4th down pass. A late interception by Chatard ended the game with just a few minutes on the clock. I thought Guerin’s front seven defensively were very stout. Going cover zero burned them on one of the long TD’s but they only gave up one long run and a few 10-15 yarders. Motly the LOS was a stalemate both ways. Not having their best receiver was a clear disadvantage for them. They might have been the second best team that Chatard has played so far this year. Losing is never easy but those boys should not hang their heads.
  20. I forget that people might not have the same info that I do. Word is that Guerin’s top 2 receivers are not playing tonight. Injuries this time of year can end anyone’s season prematurely. If they don’t play then, as I stated above, it won’t really matter how good the game plan is.
  21. Dilly can have the greatest game plan ever developed for tonight but without the athletes it won’t really matter.
  22. Last years difference. In game one Chatard was undisciplined and inexperienced. In game 2 they were out to prove something. The QB was nearly perfect and the receivers seemed like they were running their routes on air.
