Pay to play? Fundraiser’s? Boosters? Skip new uniforms? Cut coaching stipends? Other options? Mix and match different cost cutting measurements. Everything is on the table. Some will be fine, others will struggle.

Just think of all the lost athletic opportunities at the likes of Carmel, Ben Davis, Warren Central, North Central, etc. Where is the community outcry to split up these behemoths for the cause of more extracurricular opportunities?
And you don’t see the good folks of Tippecanoe County begging to consolidate schools to chase trophy’s.

Hence the real need for TSC to consolidate into one 9-12 high school. Just think of the athletic possibilities!
Sounds like a lot less opportunity in athletics.

Don J Bunge Field in Bremen, named for the patriarch of Bremen football. He started the program in the 50’s. Planted the grass seed himself on that field.

Due to COVID rearranging the schedule and playing 2A due to success factor the Pioneer Panthers got to play six of their games against teams that these boys had never played in the past. 6A Chesterton, 4A New Haven, Delphi, Bremen, Andrean and Luers. Watching how our young men went to battle against those schools and coming out with a win against Chesterton will stick with me for a while. Then going on to win a Regional in 2A against Andrean. (Those boys were huge) It was a fun year!
Not to rain on your parade, but that wasn’t the first meeting between Pioneer and Bremen. 😉

This is a reminder to check in on your friends. Mental health issues are starting to wise as a result of this pandemic. Combine that with the start of the colder weather and darker days, some individuals may need more love and attention. It is important to know that some individuals may loss touch with reality and not even realize that they are falling into a deep dark pit of despair.

Bring I was out of the state, what was the attendance at the games? Did anyone other than fans from the participating schools get in?
It was around 23,000+. 11,000 on Friday and 12,000 on Saturday.

The QB went up their for a better basketball program. The kid is a stud athlete, and was a better opportunity for him. No ill will towards him on that choice. I love seeing him flourish there. I'm upset at the Bremen administration for not doing something to improve a floundering basketball program.

St Joe and Marian don't have boundaries so it is open enrollment. The better players are going to Marian. Marian gets some players from the Elkhart and Lower Michigan areas.

As this area becomes more affluent, it also becomes more enamored with the lake life style, RVs and traveling, and general leisure. Hard core activities like football, hunting ice fishing are becoming passe' They take too much time and effort.
There is some truth to that statement, Bremen kids are not as rough neck and rugged as they were in the past. I've heard Jimtown folks say the same in conversations. We need more farm stock and less Eddie Bauer stock.

In regards to the NIC and NLC, it has been years since they have been the force that they once were. Still good football in the area, just is not what it use to be. Demographics have changed, coaches have left, and interest as a whole seem to be waning. The Indy area schools are the heartbeat of the state, Fort Wayne schools are always tough, the Region will have a team or 2 to deal with occasionally, Lafayette holds its own. Deep down along the Wabash and Ohio, there is good ball being played. The Michiana teams aren't caring their weight like they use to.

Correct. That is AWESOME. I sure hope that place is packed as packed allows. The kids deserve this WONDERFUL atmosphere.
If 2020 had taught me anything, this year doesn't care what we deserve.

No doubt about it. I’m just playing the odds. That's why I said “unlikely” and not “impossible.”
When I saw it on the stream, it was a good call. I think the guy who made the hit kinda got lost at where he was on the field. I don't think it was vicious intent, I think it was a guy who reacted in an intense moment of the game.

Bremen qb fumbled along pioneers sideline and pioneer scooped and went to score but there was an inadvertent whistle from the ref on Bremen’s sideline. Instead of granting pioneer the fumble at the end of the play they gave Bremen the opportunity to replay the down instead.
Yeah, that was weird. I would think it would be Pioneer ball at the spot.

The Lions had to play perfect. That didn’t happen. Hard hitting game. Fun to watch. I’ve never seen a do-over play outside of the school yard. Lions have talent coming back, but have to find a few more playmakers to replace the seniors. Hope to do it again very soon Pioneer.

That will never happen with the current administration in place. They are happy being competitive in the olympic sports and don't really care how it affects basketball. It has been ok for football with the split into two divisions, but basketball playing all member schools is a killer.
To your point, basketball was getting beat up in the NSC as well. They just don't seem to care to improve it. Don't get me going on the clown show that is Troy and Bruce.

Coachspeak for sure! 😁 But Bremen is a proud football program and they won't back down from anyone! (Unlike many of the HNAC teams who are beaten before they walk on the field against Pioneer.) I expect them to be extremely well prepared and excited for the chance to make a statement. My head tells me Pioneer should win handily. My hunch says it will be a great game into the 4th.
Like I said earlier, this is a measuring stick game for Bremen. Pioneer is the model for what many small schools want to emulate. Echoing what FinePrint has to say, Bremen plays with a chip on its shoulders and loves these kind of games. Bremen has to be perfect and get a few breaks. It should be a lot of fun. Wish we could have packed stands, because big games like this at Bunge Field are awesome.

I'm looking forward to this one too! Since we play both of these schools every year, I can sort of get a feel for the programs. I would say Pioneer - as a small school program - is farther along than Bremen. They just seem to reload every year, regardless of what they lose to graduation. But Bremen has a good team this year, so we'll see if they can hang around. It will be up to Bremen's defense to keep the game within reach. I believe Pioneer scored touchdowns on every offensive possession against LaVille last Friday. And that was a one loss LaVille team giving up less than 10 points a game. Pioneer has also played a much more difficult schedule than Bremen (according to Sagarin). Curious to see what Bremen can do.
That is a fair assessment, not going to find to many people who will be willing to argue with your logic.

I think Bremen has a very good chance of beating the Panthers this week. Pioneer will have to find a way to match up with the physicality of Bremen if they want to stand a chance. I think it will be an extremely physical game throughout and will come down to who makes the fewest mistakes and who can capitalize on those mistakes.
Judson is going to roll the Warriors in my opinion, but Coach H will have them prepared.

Does Bremen have a chance, sure? A very good chance, nah. Pioneer is dang near perfection when it comes to execution. It will take perfect football to sneak this one out. It is championship football though, and the Lions have to be excited for their opportunity to have some eyes on them from around the region. A lot of folks will be intrigued to see how this one turns out.
