Lol I’m not arguing. Nothing more then a little banter. I’m just glad there’s some life to this thread again lol.

Turftoe has volunteered to take on the role of the Heel in order to stir the pot and create some exchange, it is either that or he is just a big tool. (I'm going with the former and not the latter.)\

Bremen over Jimtown even though a couple starters may be out for the Lions.

Knox over Glenn in a close game.  Redskins are getting use to the new system.

Marian by at least 3 scores over Adams.  Marian has too much talent.

Elkhart proves to be too much for Penn.

Riley gets in the win column versus West Side.  Does Riley have some ineligible/injured players?

New Prairie pulls it out at home versus St. Joe.

Washington over Clay.  One team has to win I guess

Is Bremen missing the same kids who have been out or are there additional athletes going to be missing time?

This is the least talented team they’ve had since the 70s and it’s not even close.

The drop off in Baugo started just prior to Sharpe leaving. Demographics have changed and kids are not committed like before. Same thing happened in Bremen.

Elkhart subs will be playing in the 2nd qt.

Glenn bounces back and gets over the Jimtown mental block.

    Marian over NP tight.

    Penn by 10

    Saint Joe finds its groove.

Riley when’s this battle in the bend

    Bremen

Not to bad, if only I good wager money on high school sports on Fanduel.

  5. I was surprised by the Saint Joe and Glenn score. Glenn is still my favorite in the south.

The Bremen Marian game was about what was expected to many athletes on the field for Marian for the Lions to keep up with.  Bremen was missing 3 starters, so younger players were able to get reps which provide depth when the starters return.  Hopefully they get healed up and the team bounces back positively after the loss. It has been said many times, you learn more from losing than you do by winning. Other than that, not to many positives to take from Friday's game.

I don't know if we learned anything from Jimtown. I can not tell if that win against Osceola Grace was impressive or not.

I live 45 minutes from Columbus and have a lot of respect for Columbus East, what Elkhart did to them should definitely be applauded. That was great to see.

Adams soundly over Riley - Adams benefiting from a very weak first 3 games.

Jimtown crushes OG - not much to say about this one

Marian with 2 score win over Bremen - Bremen has a solid team and will have a good season. Marian is just a level above Bremen as this point in time.

Glenn over St Joe - Glad to see JG putting it together this season. They are probably one of the most underachieving programs in northern indiana. They should of consistently been at the top of the old NSC and challenged for more sectional titles. Now that the road is a little easier in the south; is this the year of the falcon? and what the hell is happening at St. Joe?

KV sneaks by Washington - Saw the first few possessions of the Bremen-Washington game and SB Wash didn't look nearly as bad as I was expecting. did they just run out of gas or what? KV will make just enough plays to win this one.

Columbus East gets the best of Elkhart - Honestly know nothing about CE or how they match up against Elkhart. But CE has been a top program in the state for nearly 20 years. gonna go with the olympians until some other teams say otherwise.

Cathedral disposes of Penn - The GID is gonna light up when Penn gets beat by an Indy school.

Andrean does enough to to clip NP - This is a 50/50 pick. NP defense has only given up 1 touchdown (an 80 yard run) in 8 quarters, but is their offense going to do enough to pull out the W? While the 59ers got beat soundly by likely the best team in NWI and then pounding on an extremely weak 6a school. Should be a good non-con matchup for both programs.

The 2nd quarter killed them.  A couple delay of games, a bad long snap set up Bremen on a short field, missed a few passes.  Bremen played clean and Washington didn't that quarter. Clean up a few things and that score was tighter.

SB. Adams - The ground game will be too much for Riley to handle. Riley appeared to freelance on Friday night which will cost them several long runs. Jones goes 3-0 for the 1st time since leaving Niles. +24

Jimtown - will any of the remaining 18 Osceola Grace players show up Friday Night? Fairfield didn't take it easy and Jimtown might have their freshmen in by the end of the 1st quarter. +55

Marian- Is this Bremen Team the real deal or have they played two teams who trying to find their identity. IMO Marian takes this one big. Their secondary wont be able to keep up with Marian's skill players. +27

Glenn- Glenn closed up shop after the 1st quarter. They held Riley scoreless in the last 3 quarters. They finished with 2 INT's though us fans believe another one was robbed by the sideline ref. #16 housed a punt return and their QB broke more ankles in the 3rd quarter then Brett Hart did using his figure fore. Glenn +19

Kankakee Valley- going with Valley on this one. Washington just doesn't seem to have the fundamental locked down. Valley by +21

ELkhart- Elkhart's skill guys will sprint past Columbus. Their QB is too mobile and will be hard to contain.  He's got a decent supporting cast due to the consolidation. +17

Catherdral- just don't think Penn is good enough to hang with Cathedral. Penn loses by +21

Andrean- hand picking takes this one. Andrean by +10

    Adams

    Jimtown

    Marian

    Glenn

    KV

    East

    Cathedral

    Andrean

So, I’m going to be in attendance at Bremen tomorrow night. What can I expect from the teams? What are the fan attendance restrictions? Where’s a good place for a pregame meal? 😉

Sorry Bob, just saw this. Hope you didn’t starve.

I think after one week it is hard to determine who will end up where.  Besides the schedule and injuries there is another factor.  What is a team ends up with positive virus cases and shuts down or loses key members for 2 weeks.  There are so many intangible things this year one never knows.  But I will say this by 2 weeks after Labor Day we should have a good sense of the virus and where teams are heading

Totally agree,  this year is a dad to day proposition.

Let’s slow down on handing out the Trophy for the South one week in. Let’s remember this is a team that still only won 3 games last year, and two of them were to a SB school. The South still runs through Jimtown, and they haven’t even got started yet.

Does it? New Prairie and Marian are who the south traditionally ran through, they got bumped up, now its a wide open field. Jimtown is Jimtown, no doubt about it, but they lost a ton, and have a new coach in place, a lot of question marks in Baugo Township.

Not hard to gauge. St. Joe is terrible. Receivers would have been JV players back in the Downey era, Oline has no drive. 52 attempts in the air 200 yards only? 68 on the ground...Bremen looks a little better but not by much.

Riley 4A played a 5A school and I heard the coach was making excuses for playing a big school. Didn’t hear that from Valpo. How do you only net 10 yards. Seems like they had a bunch of negative plays. This week they play a 3A school. What will be the excuse this week.

Washington might of not been prepared for Adams new offense. Going to guess Jones didn’t show any of the new O during the scrimmage. But Washington will still only win 1-2 games this year at best

clay...well its Clay...No depth, No QB, No RB and out of 24 kids maybe 10 played football for more then 4 years. They have no chance of beating anyone in the South...Osceola Grace is a good Freshmen Team this year.

Penn is far from explosive and will have difficulty winning close games because of it.

New Prairie will be ok. New offense and their D is fairly solid.

Glenn seems like a sleeper in the making. Buddy said they had 3INT, 2 fumble recoveries, and a blocked punt. QB apparently went 16-22 with 2TDs and ran in 4 himself. But who knows they played a Team who went 10-1 last year and their only loss was to a power house.

cant gauge Jimtown and It’s too early for Elkhart.

Marian will cause teams fit with their passing game. But they’ll have difficulty stopping teams after losing their studs on D. I see them with only. Hard to say if they’ll be a 1-2 loss team.  It will all depend on their D showing up. They better pray for dry games this year.

Pretty good write up.  I have heard from my buddies that Glenn's D is legit.  Like I said in another post, they are my pick to win the south.

about 4 weeks into the season for all the teams playing.

Every team in Indiana who got to play this weekend only was able to see each other or possibly a controlled scrimmage last week, with many of those not even going on.   I know for our team, I am not panicing, as that was our 1st game vs a solid 4a team after only seeing 14-16 year old scout team players last 2 weeks.   THAT IS A HUGE difference and the process is just now beginning.  Not complaining, just the reality of the situation everyone is under.

Got 9 weeks to get it right with our teams around the state of Indiana.

Just my thoughts after reading comments on our site and online here since kickoff.

Excited to be back and hope to stay back.

So you’re telling me I shouldn’t of booked my hotel room in Indy to watch my Bremen Lions in November?

CMA over New Prairie- Watching NP offense which looks foreign to them. I'm going to give CMA the edge here +10.

Penn over Laporte - Penn kept the Valpo game close. Its no Kingsmen team of the past. But they have enough pieces to top Laporte in this one. +21

Elkhart- take it to the air and dominates on defense. Haven't seen too much of them yet to give a good prediction +14

Marian over Knox- I was a little surprised Knox didn't start off 1-0. I thought Radke's long practices would of had them ready to be in mid-season form. Marian will take it to the air something Radke's defenses in the past have had difficulty defending. The back yard air raid and speed will prove to be too much. Knox won't hang on too long past the 1st quarter. Marian wins big +30.

Bremen-  Has Bremen come back from the ashes since moving into the NIC? Or are the Indian's getting out mustered in the recruiting game by Marian. Seems like St. Joe's Program has fallen off big time. Just my opinion. But giving Bremen props this week over another program steeply falling back to it's Amato's last years at Washington. Washington's line didn't impress me much against Adams. They were too slow to fire off for their style of offense. + 21

I'm going to go with a Toss Up on this one if it goes....Jimtown might get a slight edge if they revert back to their old school days.

Glenn over Riley- What in the world happened to Riley's offense? I watched a bit of it. 10 Net Total yards!!??. Seems like trouble in Cat country. Any petitions to bring Jarvis back early? Defense didn't look like the traditional Jarvis Defense and if he's supposedly coming back why would it be changed? It worked well before IMO. At times it looked like there was only 10 players on defense for Riley.....Riley is going to have a tough task this week. Glenn brings a stingy defense to Jackson Field. 1 First down allowed through 3 1/2 quarters. Which was a gift from the ref on 3rd down. Glenn wins +21.

Northridge- Not much to say here. St. Joe is terrible IMO. +28

Goshen- Clay barely beat a team not even sanctioned by the IHSAA with 18 players.

Adams over Woodlan-  Jones heads into this week 1-0 and will make it 2-0. The new run game and speed will be too much for Woodlan. AD did a great job fluffing up this years non-conference games. Hopefully Jones wears a mask this week when he's yelling at his players on camera regional air waves....Adams +28

I don’t know if I’d say Bremen’s program has been in the ashes since moving to the NIC. They won the NIC south in 2018 and were seconds from the state championship that year. A roughing the kicker penalty away from playing at Lucas Oil Stadium.
