  1. I apologize if that offends you... I just saw Lebanon was 4-4... I do see they've won 3 of 4... but a couple of those were 0-8 teams... I just not being from that area I don't necessarily know the rivalries.. true Lebanon is 4A... I tell ya what.. I'll add it! Oops.. I don't think I can add it.... sorry again.
  2. Providence comes in 3-5 after a 9-3 season in 2018, and losing 14 seniors, and another 3 juniors from the team that jumped all over the MIners 28-0 with still 9:45 in the 2nd quarter. It literally was like we didn't get off the bus. We lost 35-14 and genuinely play them pretty well from that 9:45 mark on. The Pioneers only return 2 offensive starters and just 3 on the defensive side. Gone are 2 year QB Joe Denis, and RB's Kevin Smith and Kaden WIlliams. Williams blasted Linton for 222 rush yards and 3 scores, and added another in the air. Gone as well on the D side is safety McCubbins who had a combined 41 tackles in the 2 meetings with us, but also LB Hoke who had 31. Providence has faced some very good teams. They beat a strong Bethlehem team from Kentucky 29-20 to start the year, they were outmatched against 5A 6-2 Floyd Central 28-7 and 4A 7-1 Silver Creek 27-0.They rebounded with a 35-8 win over rival 2A 2-6 Clarksville HOwever they have dropped 3 of last 4, but again against good quality opponents. Those losses were not blowouts either: 13-7 to 6-2 3A Charlestown, 29-15 to Holy Cross in Kentucky, and last week 20-0 to 1A 6-2 Milan. They did put a 21-6 win over 4-4 2a Mitchell. They average just 14.3 ppg giving up 18.9. SAG ratings have Linton a winner by 23.7. Linton's SAT of 61.13 is 7th in 2A, Providence is 31st with a 35.44. The Pioneers have the higher ranked strength of schedule at 43.31 to Linton's 42.02, 11th and 14th in 2A. WHile the Miners lost last year, they won 40-34 in 2017 in a game Linton dominated for 3 quarters to nearly lose in the waining minutes. INjuries have played a role in the Pioneeer's 2019 campaign. Starting WB and LB Jeremy Gettelfinger was a starter as a soph against Linton, and hasn't suited up at least for a couple weeks, and isn't listed as a starter this week. QB Bishop Edwards has missed games as well. #4 Edwards (Sr, 6'2 190) was back in action against MIlan last week. He is a running QB for sure, and 2nd (292) for the Pioneer rushing attack. Leading that ground game is #28 Colin Flake (Sr, 5'11 165) (I have him with 613 yards and 7 TDs... but I have only 7 of 8 games worth of info). They list #8 Andrew Henderson (12, 5;10 175) as the fullback, who also is at QB when Edwards is out. WB is #6 Chase Aldridge (Sr, 5'7 160) who led Providence in rushing last week, but neither he nor Henderson have contributed much to the rushing attack. As opposed to Denis at QB the last couple years, Edwards and Providence are not a passing team. I have Edwards at just 8-22 for 147 yards, 1 TD 1 score. Flake has 5 of those catches and the TD, SE #3 Carson Heldman (Jr, 5'8 150) has 1 catch, the TE, transplanted lineman #5 Alec Fougerousse (Sr 6'0 1850 had 2 for just 4 yards. The Oline returns 2 starters. Guard #78 Ryley Gunther (Jr 6'3 270), and Tackle #67 Brayton Gettelfinder (Sr 5'11 260). Center is #51 David Wall (Jr 6'3 180), and the other Tackle #74 Donte Davis (Sr 6'0 270) and Guard #65 Hazen Conner (Sr 5'6 185) , Providence will run a tight package, overloading one side of the line with the SE and WB, and try to overpower the D. I've also seen a bunch of direct snaps to Flake, who stands next to the QB in the set. Last week vs Milan they had a bunch of snap issues...over head, too low.... something like 50+ in negative yards, and one resulting in a scoop and score. Perhaps the weather played a big role in that result. Defense brings back 3 starters from our game last year. Fougerousse at ILB, Flake at OLB and Aldridge at CB. Edwards, the QB, is the leading tackler at ILB. Fougerousse is the 2nd. #9 Austin Barnett (Sr 6'1 185) is the other OLB. Gunther mans one tackle, with #76 Nathan Ross (Soph, 6'0 245) at the other. DE's are #68 Vincent Benningfield (Sr. 6'2 185) and #52 Henry Jones (Sr , 6'5 200). Rounding out the secondary is #7 Jaxon Murphy (Jr, 5'7 150) and Henderson and safety. Teams haven't really pased much against the Pioneers that I can see. Floyd Central ran for 325, Charlestown for 244.. but again I don't have much info to go on. They do have size...as we can see, but we are almost always the smaller of the two teams on the field. Providence can't be taken lightly. It they can win the battle in the trenches and get success running it will bode well for them. Flake has good speed, and have have game of 137 (Floyd Cent) 128 (Charles) and 173 against Mitchell. Edwards has two 90+ efforts. Losing Gettelfinger at WB hurt, and he had 106 in opening week, and 40+ in each of the next three weeks. I see alot of Seniors (12), but it's like Linton was a couple years back... not a lot who had seen any real varsity time. As for Linton. The coache changed up things on the Oline last week moving in #77 Soph Dalton Carpenter (5'10 215) at center. Pushing #79 Tyler Mongeau (Sr, 6'1 205) over to Guard and thus #55 Vedder Rogers (Jr 6'1 225) over to Tackle. The right side remained guard #69 Damian Giles (Jr 6'0 225) and Tackle #57 Landon Giles (Jr 6'0 210). #51 Dalton Smith (Sr 5'10 205) still saw action on the OL as well. #5 Lance Dyer (Se 5'10 175) leads rushing with 757 on 45 carris and 7 TDs, #8 Luke Lannan (Sr 5'10 185) is right behind with 652 on 96 with 7 TDs. QB #15 Trey Goodman (Jr 6'1 170) has 317 rush yards, 8 TDs, while #43 Cash Howard (Sr5'10 175) adds 232 and 5 scores. Goodman is 64 of 118 for 985 passing with 12 TDs and 3 picks. #18 Devyn Robertson (Sr, 6'2 165) has 26 of those catches, 4 TDs for 415 yards, #28 Clayton Hauser (Sr 6'1 170) has 14 for 143-1. Dyer has 12 for 156-2, Howard 8-197-3, with TE #35 Avery Puckett (Se 6'2 175) 2 for 25 and a score. Defensively Lannan leads with 70 tackles, 11 for loss, 3.5 sacks, 2 interceptions and a fumble recovery. #2 Gabe Eslinger (Soph, 6'0 180) is right behind with 69, 9 for loss, 1.5 sacks, and 1 each of INT and FR. Howard at Safety comes in with 50 and 2 picks. L.Dyer adds 34 from OLB, his brother Trevor (Sr #11, 5'10 165) with 25. Up front you will see a variety of players. Mongeau and Smith at DE, Rogers at DT or NT, #64 Hunter boldrey (Se 6'0 255), #70 Aiden Keen (Sr 6'1 and #58 Donovan DeBruhl (Soph 5'11 235) among other DT.s Even #26 Braden Jackson (Sr 5'7 170) at NT. The DBs have been Howard at safety with #23 Gavin House (Jr 5'7 160) and Robertson at Corners... possibly #7 Kauling Padgett (Soph 5'8 165) as well.

  4. I interviewed him last year at Linton. Definitely was great to meet and finally talk to him. Hopefully get to do it again down the road.. Congrats indeed.
  5. We need to end this regular season on a high note. Need to eliminate the penalties and the ball being on the ground. We need a solid game from beginning to end. Providence is 3-5 I realize...but they've played some big time teams down there. THey did lose a lot from the last couple years... they ran all over us early on last year, and we played pretty even from then... too little too late. I hope the kids remember that...
  6. What would possibly be the incentive for TH North or South or Bloomington North or South to play Linton?
  7. you do remember though just back in 2017 Eastern beat us pretty good... Plus they really had been a program on the rise, and also were 2A for a bit. Obviously we are on two different levels this year. I am one of perhaps the few who don't think we need to overload the regular season where every game we play bigger schools, and travel further and further. By no means do I want the schedule back in the Southwest 7 days either. I know Boonville is a short time opponents, and it's harder and harder to find opponents already...Teams are locked into conference deals and I'd hate for us to have an open week.. but I'd hate for us to drive 3 hours for a good opponent. I like where we are schedule wise... we have some great teams to play.. Monrovia is obviously going thru a bad time..but they normally are one of the toughest teams we play. I love having Southridge, Sullivan.. North V... I think we should always play NK and ND because I just like the history... Providence? Well it's been a good back n forth.. but that drive is a doozie!! As for Mater Dei... what can be said. they beat freakin' Evansville Central. They only lost 10-3 to Memorial, and 13-0 to Castle... they play who they play. Southridge took them out the last 2 years... it can be done... but we are gonna have to eliminate the penalties, the snap/fumble issues, and get a heckuva lot better against the pass to even stand a chance.
  8. 33: Boone Grove 7-0, North Newton 5-2; Rensselaer Central 5-2; Andrean 4-3 The Wolves have four wins over +.500 teams, but the Bombers schedule has been Daunting with 5-2 4A Western, 6-1 3A West Lafayette, and 4-3 1A LCC. RC has already drilled North’ Newton 40-15. The Spartans also dropped a 13-12 game to 4A 2-5 Kankakee Valley. Andrean has to be in the mix with a win over that same Kankakee Valley last 33-14, and losses to 6-1 6A Merrillville, 7-0 4a New Prairie and 5-2 4A Hobart. LaVille would like to have a say but the Panthers beat them handily 36-14 in week 3. Pioneer also beat 6-1 3A Knox 12-7, who beat LaVille 13-3 in week 6. Somehow the SOS between Linton and Mater Dei are within a point of each other, but clearly MD has a brutal schedule for 2A, in fact they play just one team within their class all year. The Marksmen have fallen to powerhouses Southridge and Heritage Hills, and face another one in Gibson Southern this week, but there 5 wins is their best since 6 in 2013. North Knox certainly would like another shot at the Miners, but they need to get a win this week over 5-2 1A N.Daviess first. 10. well if it's gonna rain and affect a game.. this is a good one for it to happen on. COurse, anything can happen on any Friday. And poor field conditions can make bad things happen. We've.. at least Linton, have had 7 great nights for football. I don't want to have a bad weather game when it really matters! Speaking of Eastern... I was surprised to see the QB wasn't #12 Lewis but a #10.. who was a freshman last year.. if it's the same kid. Lewis is playing..but looks like a WB or receiver. I haven't received any info from the Eastern coach or AD for a roster or depth or stats… so I'm running blind!
  11. Definite that Paridaen left EG after the state final run... and went to Evansville North. Great guy... but I think everyone knew he'd prolly head somewhere in the southern portion of the state if that opportunity came. Travis Wray had been a key part in things with EG though as defensive coordinator.. and seemed to be a favorite with the kids. That's where the insanity starts... he wasn't renewed...nobody I knew saw that coming.. and it started an uprising and community disarray. Wasn't like EG was horrible under Wray... and it wasn't like everyone didn't forsee this lull for Eastern after those two senior classes departed.
  12. I definitely will add his book to my library!!! Loved the Cluster book too..altho it brought back such bad memories!!! Congrats Rudy!!
  13. I don't know Muda... Eastern Greene folks really took a liking to football.. their home games ..even in the years they were struggling to be competitive prior to their state run a couple years ago... were always hugely attended things. Very big support from the communities that make up EG. Even Bloomfield tried to get football going for the Cardinals but we all knew that would never happen.
  14. ahh memories... we had 223 PATs from our 4 year kicker Dyllanne Deischer from 2009-2012!!! One of the first out there kicking as a girl in varsity football.
  15. PH's passing would give us trouble.. but I can guarantee we'd be the best over all defense they will have faced.. and that MIner offense can move the ball with the best of them. As for the EG game.. All I hope is we get out of the game without any injuries. I suspect a lot of guys with any nagging bumps and bruises don't even suit up. I'm sure the guys will want to play.. and they should play... but I suspect we could see 2nd teamers working with 1st teamers for experience before turning the youngsters loose in what will likely be the quickest 2nd half in years. I also think you'll see some work on some of the passing game...maybe getting guys involved like Puckett at TE. I haven't really even looked at Eastern to be honest.. .I know it has been really weak. Hard to believe just a couple years ago they were playing for state title...and as well were solid last year... I wonder if there has been any other fall from state title game to this level this quick ever. I feel for the kids because it's tough.. and you gotta give respect to them for coming out there week in and week putting in the effort. I think anyone with football sense knew this was going to be one of those years for Eastern...but it was made worse with all the off field issues....they could have been better off keeping that coaching staff intact that knew the kids and kids knew them. Starting from scratch is tough enough without turnover at the top.
  16. I wanted to offer up a congrats to the Warrior effort on Friday. The difference in this game from how they've gone in the past is that NK had that passing game, and it worked for them. Hitting Boyles out of the backfield in the flat worked several times, Noland from TE several times, and then Doades for the 39 yard leaping catch over our CB who was right there. NK wasn't going to stay in this game running the ball. Even had Richter been able to play past the 2nd, I don't think the run game was working consistently. The other thing was that NK"s defense made key stops. Seniors up on that line were physical and made big plays on 3rd and 4th downs.... we haven't seen this good of defense since Southridge in week 1. Yeah, I do think the Miners didn't come out enthusiastic.. didn't play with the same intensity or whatever the word is I'm looking for... but some of that may be that NK came right down the field and scored. Course we answered right back, but then NK scored again. This was an undecided game until mid 4th. A one score affair... and I just kept waiting to the Warriors to hit on the big play and score. I think Linton shot itself in the foot on a couple occasions with a snap way over Goodman's head... and a botched handoff that went sailing for a big loss. Penalties?? well what can I say.. I was told there were 27 flags the week before in the Lincoln-NK game. I don't have the numbers in front of me.. but both teams were over 100 yards in penalties. Miners got hit with a couple facemasks, a couple hits that were ruled out of bounds, ... NK was hit with a leading with the helmet call that I just don't understand what the heck the defender is supposed to do... and of course the much talked about Pass Interference all mid 4th that would have prolly had the Miners punt and NK have a chance down 21-13. Instead the Miners move the ball pretty easily on outside sweeps finally putting the game away late. I know the Warriors have a lot of seniors... in fact it seems almost all their line on both sides are big seniors kids... and the skill guys are good... As for my Miners... I think 16-18 year olds can't help but see things like... Linton has beaten NK 14 straight times, 26 of 27 etc and it doesn't play in their psyche....then you find yourself in a battle on the road with an enthusiastic crowd and the home team playing with momentum. I like that they responded and pulled this game out. I still worry about the pass defense. A lot of Warriors were wide open... and really there were a few times Hammelman just missed on passes on some key plays.. plus a couple drops didn't help... but I can't help but feel in NK could develop that passing into an equal threat every week Hammelman could be a weapon.. .and he can run as well. Linton has to improve on that for sure.... because NK isn't a passing team. I doubt we see any test next week with Eastern... and I don't know what PRovidence does now that their big RB is graduated.. they beat us up pretty good last year... ... Best of luck to the Warriors.. they should win out... and depending on the blind draw.. we could very well see them again....
  17. Miners come in winner of 5 straight, including last week’s blasting of the state’s then lowest Scoring Defense, 48-14. The lone blemish, an opening week loss to 3A #7 undefeated Southridge. The Warriors under 5th year head coach Josh Chambers lost week by a mere 3 points on the road at 3-3 3A Sullivan. They then reeled off 4 wins in a row, including a 34-20 road win over 2-4 4A Boonville 34-20. The other three wins were by a total of 163 to ZERO. That’s correct, but the combined WL of those three victims is 3-15. North Knox fell just short last week in a 12-6 loss to 2-4 3A Vincennes Lincoln to set their record at 4-2. The Miners also defeated Boonville, in week 5 27-16 in a game more lopsided than the score would indicate. The other common opponent are the Arrows of Sullivan. Linton handled Sullivan easily with a 35-12 final at Roy Williams the week after Sullivan’s 15-12 win over NK. Linton has made a steady climb in the 2A polls, this week being their best showing #6 in AP, #8 in IFCA and #6 in Gridiron. North Knox had gotten attention as well, but fell out of all polls save for a #15 ranking in AP. These two teams have faced each other many times since North Knox was formed, and before that as the Bicknell Bulldogs. North Knox has been a solid near or at .500 for most of the last several years coming off a 5-6 2018 where they reached the 2nd round of sectional 40, as well as 4-6 and 5-5 the previous 2 seasons. They had their best season in 20+ years in Coach McDowell’s last year (2014) going 9-3 before losing to Linton in then Sectional 48 1A Championship. Coach Brian Oliver is in his 7th year at the helm of Linton with a 69-16 all time record. Linton found themselves in the unusual position of a losing season in 2018 at 5-6; their first such thing since 1996. The Miners have won the last 14 meetings with NK. The last loss to the Warriors coming in 2009 15-7, and Linton got revenge that year 44-0 in sectional rematch. After that you got to go back to 1996 for the last Warrior win (41-12), another 12 year stretch of Miner wins. NK is loaded with experienced seniors, mostly in the trenches. Four O linemen return with Seniors #51 Jackson Stroud (6’0 215) at Tackle, #67 Trevor Kahre (6’3 310) at Guard, #74 Ben Burke (5’11 250) at Center, and #50 Ethan Haag (6’2 225) moving from Guard To Tackle. The new face is #56 Trey Keller at Guar (Sr, 6’0 240). Add to that their double Tight Ends #88 Sr Troy Noland (6’1 190) and #7 Jr Blake Long (5’9 145). The backfield feature RB #23 Cole Richter (5’7 150), averaging 7.2 per carry, with just about half of the team’s rushes (108) for 773 yards and 9 TDs. He’s eclipsed 100+ yards in each game, other that last year where he fell just short at 96. As always NK is first and foremost a running team. They have 23 rush TDs and average 294.7 yards on the ground per game. #20 Soph Holtman Doades (6’0 145) have added 357 yards on 31 carries with 5 scores. These two have handled the bulk of carries, but QB #11 Reece Hammelman (Jr, 6’0 170) has 26 carries for 80 yards, and #22 Zach Boyles (Je 5’11 170) is a fullback, but has just 2 carries. Doades has an impressive 219 yards rushing on 15 carries against Boonville. When you look at game by game you see that other than the boonville game, Richter has been the offense. Hammelman has three 100+ passing games. 126 against Sullivan, 105 vs Eastern and last week’s 115 on 9 of 22 passing against Vincennes Lincoln. Overall he has 564 yards in the air on 37 of 65 with 7 pass TDs an 4 Picks. 13 of his completions have gone to Doades for 171 yards and 2 scores.TE Noland has 2 scores on 6 catches for 201 yards. Boyles with 8 for 64, Richter and SR #11 Matt Urbain (6;0, 160) each with 4 catches. That offense will face a staunt Miner defense led by ILB’s #8 Luke Lannan (Sr, 5’10 185) and #2 Gabe Eslinger (Soph, 6;0 180). 1 & 2 in tackles (50 and 48) They also lead in TFL with 8 & 7. Lannan also adds 3.5 sacks and 2 picks. Safety Cash Howard (#43, Sr, 5’1- 175) has 40 tackles, 22 of them solo. Up front have Sr’s Tyler Mongeau (#79, 6’1 205) and Dalton Smith (#51, 5’10 205), with DT’s Sr Hunter Boldrey (#64, 6’0 255) and Jr Vedder Rogers (#55, 6;1 225). We will likely see a 5 man front against NK, which brings Sr Braden Jackson (#26, 5;7 170) in a NT, or Rogers lines up there with Soph #58 Donovan DeBruhl (5’10 235) at DT. You will also see #35 Sr Avery Puckett (6;2 175) come in as a rush DE in passing situations. OLB’s Lance Dyer (#5, Sr, 5’11 175) is 4th in tackles with 26, along with his brother Trevor Dyer (#11, Sr 5’10 165) are both used to being cover guys, and corners have been #23 Jr Gavin House (5’7 170) and #18 Sr Devyn Robertson( 6;2 165), but also #7 Soph Kaulin Padgett (5;8 165) since coming back from injury. The Miner D has been very solid against the run. 2.49 per carry, and 73.33 per game (truth be known, most of that against the JV). 4 of 6 opponents were held under 100 yards total rushing. The passing has been where opponents have had success…166.67 per game in the air, but the Miners have 14 interceptions, as teams have thrown the ball 145 times, and average just 6.9 per catch. The Warrior D returns 8 starters from 2018, and is led by LB #88 Troy Noland with 51 tackles, 35 solo, 10 for loss. His younger brother Beau Noland (#30, Soph, 6’2 205) has made an impact at DE with 44 tackles, 8 for loss and 7 sacks. The other 2 backers and 3 down lineman are all seniors. #57 Jalen Conrad (6’1 190) with 22 tackles, and #11 matt Urbain (6’0 160) with 35 tackles (3rd on team). Haag joins Noland as DE, with 6;4 320 pound DT #64 Dylan Wolfe (33 tackles, 8 for loss) along with Ben Burke (5’11 250) The DB;s are Doades, #22 Levi Brocksmith (Jr 5’10 145) at corners with #22 Boyles and #1 6 Hammelman safety. Richter also sees action. Boyles has 29 tackles. #56 Sr Trey Keller (6’0 240) has 26 tackles, and #21 Jr Wesley Boyd (5’0 155) is in the mix as well. The Miner Offense has been a well oiled machine of late. Averaging 369.7 yards per game, 228.3 on ground, and 141.33 in the air. Linton has legitimate weapons starting with Lance Dyer at WB (59-513 yards) and FB Luke Lannan (74-466 yards) Each have had two 100+ games, Lannan 4 TDs Dyer 5. Add to this QB Trey Goodman (#15 Jr 6;1 170) with 214 yards on 48 carries and 5 scores, and WB #43 Sr Cash Howard’s 4 TDs on 36 for 169 rushing. Goodman has been affecting in the air for 848 yards 11 TDS and just 1 interception. He’s hit on 55.8% of his passes (53 of 95). The Miners line up with 2 WR’s more often than not, which is a difference from prior years. Led by #18 Devyn Robertson’s 23 catches for 381 and 4 scores, and #28 Sr. Clayton Hauser (6’1 170), 12 for 126 1 TD). Howard adds 10 catches for 150 and 2 scores, Dyer 5 for 155 and 3 scores, TE #35 Avery Puckett 2 catches for 25 and a score. The Miners up front feature two seniors- Mongeau at C and Smith at LT. Rogers is at one guard, while the Giles twins handle the right side: G #68 Jr Damian Giles (6’0 225) and T #57 Landon Giles (6;0 210). Soph Dalton Carpenter (#77, 5’10 215) has been back from an injury that kept him out of the first games and adds depth. Like all Linton North Knox meetings.. this is always a highly talked about contest. The Warrior faithful are disappointed in the loss last week against country rival Vincennes Lincoln, and a win against the Miners would cure that bad taste in the mouths. For Linton, it always seems to be a case of coming out flat against NK. As I’ve said before… last year it was 7-0 Miners until 50 seconds in th 2nd, and 21-8 Miners at the half before the Miners scored 3 X in the 2nd half to pull away. 2017 was 0-0 through 1, and just 20-6 Linton at half, then 4 Miner TD’s in the 2nd half. Both of those games saw the Warriors get inside the Miner 5 on opening drives and come away with no points. The Linton seniors hopefully will have this team rearing to go as they did last week against North Daviess. But they can’t come out flat and spot NK any kind of lead… because NK will eat up the clock. Once Linton pulls ahead by a couple scores it puts the Warrior offense in a bad position. And I’m sure they’ve watched enough video to see we still give up some passing plays. One thing for sure… what a great night for football!!!

  19. Feel free to show up at one of those 1A games and grab the PA Mic and explain this to those 1A folks? I would have welcomed you to Linton any time...
  20. Ok... I am trying to figure out what happened with these games: West Central vs North Judson Calumet at Griffith...
  21. Late to the party here.. but looking through stats I noticed Southridge QB Taylor has been out since week 3... What happened? Hate to see an injury... Will he be back at all?
  22. You know I've mentioned the importance of the pass for NK... if they are unable to run etc. I do want to point out that Hammelman, has thrown 65 times, 56.9% completion rate, 37 catches for 564 yards and does have 7 TD Passes. Holtman Doades, the impressive soph and 13 of those catches for 171 out of the backfield with 2 TDs, and Troy Noland, a multi-year started at TE has 6 for 201 and 2 TDS. Zach Boyles has 8 for 64 as well. Hammelman put the ball in the air 22 times last week vs Lincoln, hitting but just 9 for 115. He threw 10 of 18 for 126 against Sullivan in week 1. He had 4 TD passes in a 6 for 7 night (95 yds) against N.Central. It really never fails that Linton gives up a huge pass play against NK... because we fall asleep. First job will be to control the line of scrimmage, and to put the clamps on Richter (who has 773 yards rushing, over 7.7 yards per touch). He is another in a long line hard running NK tailbacks. Richter has eclipsed 100 yards in 4 of 5 games, and was just 4 yards shy of 100 last week. Doades had the big 219 yard game against Boonville. They also look to have a young kid in the works #12 Sheren... he had 147 against Eastern and 97 against Tecumseh, but i think it's more mop up. For comparison purposes... Linton's Goodman has thrown 95 times, hitting on 53 for 848 Yards (55.8%) with 11 TDs and 1 pick. 23 of those to Devyn Robinson for 381 and 4 TD, 12 for Clayton Hauser for 126 and a score. Cash Howard 10-150 2 TD, Lance Dyer 5-155 and 3 TDS... Dyer leads the rushing at 59 for 513 (8.7 per) 5 TDs, Lannan at 74 for 466 (6.3 per) at 4 TDs. But don't count out Goodman with 48 for 214 yardc and 5 TDs nor Howard with 36 for 169 yards and 4 rush TDS.
  23. Well truthfully... and let me say before I go any further...I get along with everybody in the booth. We have a lot of jokes and laughs, and work together best we can in usually cramped situations. The road games are a little rough because nobody expects a small school to come in with both radio and a separate video steam going out. So... where for years we always had a guaranteed spot in the booth at away games, because we always have been the flagship Miner FOotball station..particularly with teams we had played for years... now...it can be a matter of who gets there first... and it's not unusual to find that we are sitting where you can't always see so well.. but that also happens to those guys too. Also what Gregg has gone through with the loss of his daughter Madi I wouldn't wish on anyone. I take a lot of pride in doing the broadcasts. Nobody will know the amount of work and time I put into it. A lot of it just because I am an information junkie concerning Linton Football. I don't think anyone can challenge me on that... at least the last 20 or so years... now KingTut has me absolutely beat to the ground in over all knowledge of Miner Football through the years!!!! Truth is.. GCSN and Media Five Sports are competitors...each appealing to a small window of advertisers in a small region with limited funds. I know a whole lot of folks have tried.. unsuccessfully, to somehow align our audio with their video. I've inquired myself because so many have asked. Truth is..again… despite the respect Darren and myself get for the broadcasts... people want to watch the video. Back when Jared Albright jumped into the fray with his outstanding video stream production.. we were the talk of the area. He used our Audio feed, and his multi camera set up... and really was like watching a TV Production. We got all sorts of talk around the state, and of course globally... tons of MIner Faithful across the country and world were following the Miner March for the state title. As we headed into 2016's season...I think... suddenly GSCN came aboard. THey had covered Eastern Greene the year before...but now they became a new presence ...and to be honest I didn't see the need. I appreciate what they brought to Greene County in coverage of so many different sports and events...I thought it was a great thing for the community, but I felt the football side had been covered just fine. You have to admire that they stuck their feet in... but I think they'd of been out of the picture had our production continued as was. Unfortunately..I knew the time and work was really a lot for Jared, and he had family that needed him as well.... So when he made the decision to not do the video side, and Keith didn't want to make the leap into the video side...well that re-opened the door for the GCSN guys to fill a void.. a big void... because there were and still are huge numbers of folks who watch that video stream. It's gotten to where the all the bars, clubs, garages...all have it on their big screens ..and less and less people actually come to the games... We were starting to see that in our broadcasts with Jared. The hospital, coal mines, nursing homes, restaurants that all had our broadcasts on the radio... were going to the video stream... and now...it's what they all do. As I've said many times... I wonder when some schools decide against allowing video streaming of games because of lost revenue... or they start charging for the right to stream games. I don't think audio is an issue. Sports and Radio have gone on like bisquits n gravy, bacon n eggs forever. But when you noticeably see crowds down...and you hear so many people say they watched the game at here..or there.....and you think.. yeah but.. the kids need to see this place packed and loud..etc… I know I know.. some people can't get to the game...and for that I think it's a great service... Like I said.. I like the guys at GCSN. They too put a lot of time and effort into what they do. And it's a lot of late nights and hard work. I will say that I feel like Darren and I are the voices of Linton Football. Darren is a dang good announcer...and he does terrific basketball broadcasts as well. I don't have any desire to do anything but football LOL! The video stream certainly has taken a bite out of the Audio broadcast. Certainly advertisers are going to be aware of the views their ads are going to get with all the places having in on a wall of big screens on every corner. I do have fear that at some point Keith will decide to pull out o Linton … he's got a bunch of stations doing various games elsewhere. He's not a Linton guy...He could decide to move on... but we would still owe him a debt of gratitude for keeping Miner Football on the airwaves. This is the only team I know that actually has live video streaming... at least in such a small market. It's one thing if the radio station is also doing the video because you aren't competing...but in the case it is. LInton loves it's football no question about it... where else would you get that in such a small area?!?!
  24. I suspect that North Knox could have success initially with their brand of smash mouth football. THey don't impress with the pass game at all.. and I think Linton will undoubtedly load the box and force NK to do just that. THe Warriors will either win the battle upfront and churn out a win.. or as is the case in most these meetings...they have to try to do things they are not comfortably doing. THe other thing is that Linton's offense... can NK's D get stops..make plays, and chase these guys for 4 quarters. ANother trademark of this game is that Linton gets up by 2 scores or more..and NK can't just run off 8:00 drives and expect to get back in the game. Now they could...if their D can make the plays. If you get Lannan, Dyer and Howard into the 2nd tier... could be a long night for NK... they will have to get penetration up front to disrupt...but their LB's must also make the tackle in the open field. I think both teams know each other pretty well in terms of what both do. Linton has an added level of passing success that I think really really puts defenses in a tough spot. A game like this.. on the road for Linton... with NK just losing to Vincennes.... the Miners cannot afford to come in flat or slow... seems like we've done just that in recent games with NK.. I know the scores don't indicate it.. but the opening quarter last year was 7-0 until less that a minute in the opening quarter..and just 21-6 at half. And recall that NK drove 71 yards on 15 plays using over 8 minutes to the miner 5 fumbling on 4th and 3. IN 2017 it was 0-0 after 1... 20-6 LInton at half. Again, NK's 1st possession they got to the Miner 10 1st and goal.. reaching the 2 and failing on 4th down. NK is better this year...but so is Linton...by leaps and bounds...
  25. Ahhh good to see mention of the Kickapoos!!!!! and the Twigs as well!!
