Under Coach John Lidy, who coached Castle for 30 years, Castle only won the SIAC title 4 (5) times.

    • 1975 SIAC "B" - did not include the city teams
    • 1982 - 3A State Champions
    • 1983
    • 1984 - Co-Champions - tied with Mater Dei. Both teams did not play each other that year
    • 2002

Not sure what is meant by having the most resources. They don't even have field turf. There seems to be more to it than meets the eye.

Even bigger head a scratcher IMO.

  2. Hearing the Bosse coach is going to be an asst HS coach in Florida. Supposedly his dream is to be an NFL asst and he felt this was the best path. Yes, I spit my water out laughing when I 1st heard that. Ridiculous he waits until almost June to announce.

Bad deal for the kids but the administration got what they deserve after not wanting Schnur back. They had some total BS reasons for not bringing Schnur back and now it’s bit  the Principal in his ass. Sucks for the kids....coach Schnur was a great fit.

  3. Castle is usually middle of the pack or have been the last several years. Nobody in siac looks at Castle as a top tier program. Probably biggest underachieving team year in and year out.

Central has been near or at the top the past 4 or 5 years.

North has been awful since 2012 and is due for a couple good seasons. I wouldn’t say they’ve replaced anyone based off of being 500 last year and off to a good start in a down siac conference this year.

Reitz had a couple bad years lately which can be expected after dominating for years.

How do I say this politely without causing a s&@$t storm?? Perhaps the vaunted SIAC is - how do you say...not as “vaunted”??

Jasper comes in and has a legit shot to claim the conference crown...😕

Memorial is experiencing a turnover after some great years

MD...well...let’s just say the success factor has benefited them moving Southridge out of their way.

Central ...I guess they’re pretty good??

Now North has became the top dog??

Too bad sectionals USED to let all these arguments play themselves out- but not so much anymore...

I’ve said from day 1 Jasper is a great fit for SIAC. IMO best fit of any program in SW Indiana.

Wish I could have been there, but I didn’t find out that they were doing different attendance rules than Evansville until last night.

Folks, Lincoln is open to 50% (not 500 total), but you have to purchase your tickets in advance. Might be a little more work to drive up there, but general public tickets are sold on Thursday evening from 5-7. They have a video on their Facebook page that explains it all.

I think same for jasper but it looked like more than 50% week 1.  Stadiums are big enough for 50% and keeping distant.

  6. The Tigers will have to get better upfront quick. The 4 sophomores on OL will be good just need reps. Friday they struggled but never quit vs Jasper.  Looks like offense was way behind D in most games. Total yards less than 300 for several teams.  Expect offenses across the board to become more efficient and effective as the season moves forward.  I’ll be interested to see where teams are in 3 or 4 weeks.

  7. No surprises really.  Memorial young and ranked #1 from going 41-3 last 3 years. North is a good team. Central and MD combined for 7 ints and 200 plus yards of penalties.  VL snd Reitz should have looked dominant.  Offenses looked sluggish in games where two decent or above averages team faced off. Expected that from lack of game type  reps over summer.
And no siac fan talks much after wins over Harrison or Bosse.

Praying all siac teams stay healthy for week 2.

  8. Valpo offers academic money based on need and other factors. Players then sign an agreement to play while attending school. I would think Pence and Boberg will both get a nice athletic scholarship by the end of the year. Both are outstanding players.  But in these times it’s nice to have any opportunity on the table.

Let's just call it what it is and dont beat around the bush or try to avoid reality

Indy schools have home field advantage in the state finals

They get to sleep in their own beds while others are in cheap hotels

Relax in their own homes while others are driving in winter weather

Maximize practice time and rest while others are traveling

It's a huge advantage for the local schools

Memorial used the practice day in 2008 and then again in 2009. 2017 and 2018 Memorial/Hurley elected to pass on practicing at LOS. I do give Memorial credit for staying in a really nice downtown hotel all 4 trips while only putting 2 players per room.
