Breaking news: Memorial Senior Barry Duff has committed to Akron!

Another reason a kid shouldn’t be punished by Andy Owen and the ihsaa for transferring. This opportunity never happens if Duff stays at his previous school.

You are not wrong, but this group is pretty special. If they continue to progress at their current rate, there are multiple guys with extremely high ceilings!

Don’t get me wrong…North has athletes in all sports. Football staff is top notch and kids seem more committed to weightlifting since this staff took over. Hopefully this is the year the Huskies find a way to get over that .500 hump and win a sectional.

Don't sleep on the defense at North. Deepest group of up front talent on a single team that the area has seen for some time. Big, physical, athletic, experienced, and all are juniors. Even better that they are great kids.

Pretty big statement considering the defensive talent on Centrals state runner up team along with Memorials 17, 18, and 19 groups.  Especially EM 18 & 19.  Athletes all over the field on D.

Memorial has a lot of guys to replace on D : Shea, A. Farmer, Russell, Agler, Rogers, Filbert, Scheberle were all regular starters.  Tyler, Dehner, and a few others got some reps.

But if anybody can pull that off, it’s Ben Johnson.

    Ben Johnson

All good players and I argue they’ve replaced equal if not better groups and keep moving forward.

It's worth pointing out that Porter Rode has transferred twice:  once from Westfield to Ev. Central after his freshman year, then from Ev. Central to Ev. Memorial after his 1st semester sophomore year.

Yea. That drive from Evansville to Westfield each day would have been a tough deal. Not sure that move had anything to do with athletics.

Interesting bit about Central, I know Herdes is an an excellent Baseball/Basketball player, so that doesn’t surprise me. The Davis news is new to me, so that will make the Reitz QB race more interesting

It’s comedy at its best. The kid trying to get to Memorial will be denied full participation. Davis will be granted full release. Sounds  like Davis has been coached on how to make it work from a higher up in the evsc admin building.  It will be listed as an adjustment transfer. Situations likes this is  what makes being the face of the SIAC and SW Indiana football more enjoyable. All student athletes should be granted a 1 time transfer option.

    North

    Reitz

    Bosse

    VL

    Castle

    Harrison

Jasper- should be fine, heard it was intense last summer

Memorial- same page with Jasper, Ellspermann has the experience

Central has biggest questions. The sophomore to be, Davis, transferring to Reitz and Herdes is rumored to be focusing on baseball and basketball.

  8. Fisher looks the part. Big kid with a good arm. Not afraid to tuck the ball and be a physical runner.  I’m guessing it’s going to be a pretty open competition for the 1st time in several years. Ellsperman is athletic enough to help in other spots but he’s also 1 half away from a state title game. Good to have tough decisions. Fisher looked impressive pitching opening day for the Tigers. Hard to believe he’s just a freshman.

    Definitely not Lol

Lawrenceburg was basically blown out but had a great comeback and had some momentum.  The 3rd Qtr alone there were probably 3 or 4 GS drives that stalled out inside the 30 and resulted in 0 points.

I would also like to point out that last year I specifically pointed out that this BS would happen.  Everyone expected Gs to make a run and I said if they did accomplish it all the memorial fans and everyone would immediately pivot to saying crap like “well if chatard or memorial would have been there….” And look where we are now.

GS built a schedule that had transitive foes of Chatard/Cathedral/Center Grove and here you are trying to say East Central via transitive was the real determination for your conclusion. LOL

That’s what big brothers do. Keep little brother in check.  😎

  10. On a side note Hart vs Hurley.
Harts 3 wins came against 3 Memorial teams who combined to win 9 games and 4 or 5 of those wins were after tournament started. 2 of those games were a dog fight and 1 a blowout.  Possibly 3 of the worst teams Memorial put on the field in Hurley’s career.

Hurley’s 3 wins against 3 GS teams that combined to won 29 games.
Though the head to head is deadlocked, the 3 wins were against bottom of the pack siac Memorial teams.

About the time Memorial gets back to 3A (if it ever happens)....GS will be getting dang close to 4A, oh the irony of it all LOL.  I still think the SIAC having 1 non-conference game would be a change that if you surveyed all the coaches in the conference, it would win the vote easily.

I think you would be surprised how many don’t mind 10 teams. I know 6 personally who are happy they don’t have to search for games and travel. Not sure about Castle, North, VL, and Jasper.  I know the SIAC doesn’t have to leave conference to find good competition.  I completely understand the PACs need for non conference games or at least why HH and GS need those games. I will also say, IMO, GS run to state was helped by more than just scheduling. Obviously, years of hard work from GS faithful played a huge role as well, but if any GS supporter acts like EM and Chatard being bummed wasn’t huge…..I call BS.  On siac being closed to scheduling…. 1 team played for state title and another basically was in a state championship semi state because the winner was going to walk to a W in 4A. I don’t see it hurting the siac as much as PAC fans like to believe.  Just opinions from an old dude.

SIAC has a strong in-conference schedule, I was just giving a friendly jab about being locked in.  But it does give the rest of the state something to argue about with the Sagarin numbers! lol

Personally, I am ready for the next GS-Memorial matchup... been far too long! I think both teams look forward to that clash.

There are weak teams in the siac but I do like all the matchups except Bosse, Harrison, and Vincennes.  I can remember the week 2 non conference schedule being a nightmare for not only Memorial but several siac teams. I think EM played Mater Dei a couple times week 2 in non conference games and a team from St. Louis area.  I can recall North going all the way to Michigan because the AD insisted on them playing 9 games.
If schedule had room I’d love to see a GS or HH on it. Hopefully Memorial will get back to 3A and sectional 32.

Don't be jelly belly. Respect the grudge and enjoy the closed conference. 😁

Lol. Closed conference makes me zero difference. Zero interest in finding non-conference games. Memorial has played siac teams in non conference games before adding Jasper and VL. Believe it or not, EM had trouble getting good teams to schedule them in week 2. Nobody likes getting beat by a 3A Catholic team non conference.  Only change is Memorial added VL and it counts. Jasper is still week 1 and has been for years. I’m good!! I would have enjoyed going to GS, if VL didn’t get back in. Try to extend that win streak in our home away from home to 4 games. 😜
