Another good reason for the SIAC to have an open date and play a game in Indy for its marquee schools.

Very few HC want or need to travel to Indy for exposure. If a kid wants exposure they have to attend camps. Preferably at universities they feel is a level they can play      Very few college coaches attend high school games. They rely on their own camps, exposure camps, and film. The kids mentioned on here are attending schools that are a good fit for their talent level.

At the banquet this year, he said he asked Lindauer and Branson Combs to be ball boys in middle school, since neither of them had any direct family connection to Memorial.

Of course, his wife’s maiden name is Lindauer…so he was really forward thinking when he married her.  😜

And they were already in feeder schools.

Great vision by Hurley. I think Drew Hart was once a ball boy as well as Brock Combs. Those guys all turned out ok. I guess we should pay more attention to who gets those jobs for future tiger success. Lol

Lol.  I like to know what Coach Hurley's recruiting budget is.  These past few years have been good for us.

    Ray Brodie from Reitz

    Xavier Tyler from Bosse

    Now Porter Rode from Central.

5 trips to state in 14 years. Thats all the budget needed.

Thanks, looked like he was everywhere this week

Ummm..I think in state recruiters in charge of Indiana visit several schools regardless if any kids to recruit or offer. Developing relationships is important but the reality is SW Indiana has very few kids that receive D1 offers in football. It’s really surprising considering the quality of some of the programs.

    Agreed

although…..I wouldn’t put castle in the top tier.  For the number of students and social-economic factors…you would think they would be better

Castle wins the SIAC all sports conference championship trophy every year. Castle is a 1 loss maybe 2 loss team every year in the pac for football. Castle being a middle tier team in football speaks to the strength of the conference.

  6. MD vs Reitz beat rivalry in area

Central vs North schools just don’t like each other in all sports

Harrison vs Bosse two evenly matched east side schools

Memorial vs GS two teams that just win and the class of SW Indiana football

Jasper vs Castle. Two big schools that can’t win when it matters

VL Vs Boonville. Two schools going the same direction in a hurry.

Coach Hart is going to be judged on what he can accomplish without Brady Allen.

We used to joke that anybody with a pulse and a whistle could coach the Warren Central teams that won 4 straight state championships at the highest level.  Talent makes a difference.

I think that’s what separates the really good ones from the great ones. The ability to get more than 1 group of kids to LOS. Time will tell.

Meh for such a minor comment you sure want to make it bigger than what it is

im calling a spade for a spade…he’s the best play caller/play designer in the state.  And like anyone who is great at that, they leave opposing defensive coordinators guessing and rattle their head.

football is as much a mental game as it is a physical game…and I would like to think the people behind the headsets on Friday nights are just as important for winning as the talent on the field.

I guess opposing defenses won the mental game from 2016 to 2020.

I didn't say best player, I said most deserving. As we've seen with this award, it's usually a best player award on best team. Hard to argue Jack Kiser's worth to Pioneer and what he did on both sides of the ball. That being said, there's only two players in then 5A/now 6A to rush for over 3,000 yards in a single season and Romeir Elliott is one of those players.

    That year finished

    kizer

    Bell

    Lindauer

    Elliot

I think George QB from WC was just outside top 4.  3 players from one team.  Wow.
Bell wound have been my pick.

  10. Memorials 3rd grade thru 8th grade went a combined 68-4 this year. Studs at all levels who are can’t miss college bound D1.  😂

Kidding! I honestly couldn’t tell you the record of one team outside of varsity.

I think the 2017 and 2018 group were under 500 every year until sophomore year. 2019 group below average every year until high school. Hope these upcoming groups are just average right now.

Curry was a major reason that CG went to the State Title game 3 years in a row, winning 2 of them.  He's a major reason CG has went 28-0 over the past 2 seasons, playing 6A and MIC competition.

Unbelievable! 3 state finals and 28-0! Vs the very best in the state.  I think a Mr Football has to advance in tournament play more than 1 season. JMO. If not it’s a toss up for this years winner.

  12. Rarely do QBs not redshirt at that level. Brady’s work ethic will have him in the hunt by year 2. Regardless of talent it’s a huge learning curve. Purdue is bringing in a really talented kid in the 22 class. Teams like Purdue will continue to recruit the best they can get at QB regardless of who’s in the QB room. I think Brady’s work ethic wins but there will be top notch comp every year.

  13. Sectional 32 would have been a beast in 2019. I like our chances. IMO the younger Combs is the best player I’ve seen in a blue and white uniform. Guessing if he played RB all season and not just the playoffs he’s easily a 1000 plus yard rusher. Never mind the problems he caused as an edge rusher as Chatard found out in 18.  Again. All just my opinions which aren’t worth much.

I can promise you that Memorial is glad they were in 4A in 2019, or they wouldn't have been celebrating another state title.

TBH, I'm glad we didn't have to deal with that 2019 Memorial team, but would still like to see those 2 teams play.

Not the 1st time we’ve been told we can’t beat Chatard. We were told in 18 no chance. Our JV played most the 4th quarter. 2019 by far best defense Memorials ever ran onto the field
