Doug might want to consider moving some of his JV guys up to Varsity.  I honestly thought a number of them looked better than their starters.

Easily the smallest Castle team I can recall.

Hurt had mentioned in CP article preview they are small. That’s an understatement. Still puzzled by a school with just over 50 on roster with 2000 students.

Yes, but I’m not going to post what I’ve heard on here until there’s confirmation.

So for now I’ll just “stay tuned.”

Hopefully the kid doesn’t lose his junior season. Either way I like what I saw from the guys that had attempts in watermelon scrimmage. I still think with or without Porter the Ellspermann kid has potential to be a dangerous runner.  He could be a nice dual-threat. Nice size kid and athletic. Good 3 sport athlete. Kid is a winner. The younger brother could be special in 3 sports. He is as talented as they come in multiple sports.

Agreed.  I think with Southridge it’s more that it was a jump from 2A/3A while people more/less see 4A/3A on pretty much the same level.  Some years the best 3A team is better than all of 4A.  They are pretty close when you are comparing top 10 teams of each.

I wouldn’t say I care if memorial goes back to 3A or not.  But they have definitely earned their spot and have done more in 4A than Chatard has…which says a lot about the tradition and culture of memorial.

i think if anything I want memorial to stay 4A so that when GS joins because of enrollment we get to those matchups and forum chaos again.  Memorial Vs GS threads were good fun debates and the build up to either heartbreak or pride on fridays were a thrill.

    Great atmosphere

Well - you probably won't like the upcoming statement - but Memorial doesn't receive the same sympathy as a Southridge when it comes to the SF. The Success Factor was put in place for the Chatard's & Memorial's of the world (private/parochial). We aren't exactly playing with the same deck of cards....

I think sometimes people should come look at the deck of cards Memorial is playing with. Not many times have the Tigers lined up and been the biggest, strongest or fastest team.  The groups that went to state were a couple of special classes back to back to back. Before that not many feared the Tigers.  Only 1 time in Hurleys career have the Tigers won the SIAC outright. Most years middle of the pack. If the SIAC is very comparable to the PAC in football why would anyone care if Tigers are 3A?
Nobody wants sympathy I can promise that.

Yes because last year Memorial definitely did not make it to semi state as a 4A and they definitely haven’t been one of the top teams in 4A.

you have my support when it comes to the possibility that EM could be playing in 5A despite barely having a 3A enrollment….but Memorial belongs in 4A and that’s not even remotely a hot take or something unearned

Not sure your point but Memorial is 4A because of kids who are junior and seniors in college.

Why should Memorial be in 4A other than SF?  5A? Lol

Well...in our "neck of the woods" (Southern Indiana) - let's take a quick quiz.

Since the implementation of the SF, which schools have been forced up due to tournament success?

    A. Gibson Southern

    B. Mater Dei

    C. Heritage Hills

    D. Southridge

While I realize their time is probably quickly coming (Mater Dei and Gibson Southern) - we've personally felt the sting/pitfalls of such a program. Not only after a State Championship, but also acquiring enough points to STAY up (I realize enrollment was going to put us there anyway in the newest classification cycle.)

Bottom line, we had kids who weren't even in the high school program paying for the successes of kids who are now in the junior/senior year of college...and that just seems weird.

But, as they say, "it is what it is"

Yep. Memorial playing 4A football  and staying 4A because of kids who graduated 3 and 4 years ago.

Yep. He’s been working out at that position since the day he showed up at MD. He’s been working out over there for a few weeks now.  Baseball and basketball is where Central will feel the impact of this transfer.

Yea, they way I’m seeing it is that the IHSAA is blocking it since it’s his 2nd transfer. But if it was his first, it probably wouldn’t have mattered. Hopefully it will get resolved, but I don’t think we will be seeing him on the field this year, unfortunately. Unless some miracle pops up.

Andy Owen and Paul Neidig are blocking it. Has ZERO to do with 2nd move. Two jack##### that hate Memorial.

With the official start of the season upon us, let’s stir up some questions:

    - Will Reitz end up being an dark horse contender in the SIAC or a pretender?

    - Who ends up being the one to lead the Huskies under center? As the QB battle continues on US41

    - With 17 starters returning, will the Alices see improvement?

    - Will Jasper continue their SIAC dominance? Week 1 will be wild at Jerry Brewer Stadium

    - Can Bosse grab 3-4 wins this season? I think so

    - Does Mater Dei make a return to state? That Regional is looking tough with either Brownstown Central/Scecina and Linton being potential competitors

    - The Tilly Era maybe be over in Paradise. But can the Knights overcome the odds to stun the doubters?

    - With both QBs gone, and a long-gloomy season awaits, can the Bears find some light this season?

    - Questions still loom of the Rodes transfer. While the Tigers have high expectations, however, could we see a small setback on the defensive end?

    - Harrison is sure glad to have 6’6 TE Thomas, but many questions remain on who will throw to him.

I think anytime Castle, MD, Memorial, Reitz, North and Jasper play it’s a coin toss. Would not surprise me if any of these 6 win the SIAC. VL should be the best of the other 4 just based on returning players.

Man how drunk are you?  I threw more shade at you personally yesterday in here than anything else I said….and responding to a VL fans comments directed at me….THATS WHAT SENT YOU OVER THE EDGE?!?!?!?

of all the things I said to you in the last 48hrs….me laughing at a comment and saying “hey lets talk in sectionals”….that’s the button you can’t have pushed?

    lay off the drink dude

Don’t drink but you shouldn’t attack me personally. That’s not nice! Just giving you hard time.  You should know I give insightful info. I’m the one that told you Memorial will be just fine without Lindauer and Combs and that 4A would be no problem.
I feel like I know the area football and sports in general.  I’m at lots of different schools games year around and get a good eye-test of the athletes. Not sure how many games you’ve attended over the years but eye-test is important. JMO.

You’re so delusional it’s unreal.  Idk how you can read @SEAL_63comments and then accuse me for just questioning the shade they are throwing.  Like WTH?

VL and GS are in the same sectional now too…so we can just save this for a potential matchup.

i don’t know how you came away with I’m the one throwing shade here but keep barking on the sidelines

Coming to the SIAC tread to throw shade? Classy

  12. 34 minutes ago, DumfriesYMCA said:

Slighted? Passed on for Lincoln?!?!? 😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣

tell ya what….I’ll just let this go and we can revisit this come sectionals

So GS finally wins a sectional and now they throw shade on VL.  Got it.
Is this sarcasm or real football insight?

Is there any particular reason that IU didn't recruit Edward Hartig?  I see he has committed to play at Miami, OH, which essentially means he has the skills and size to play at Indiana.  Unless this kid simply cannot play, how do you turn your back on 6-5, 290 and all that coachable raw potential?

I think Purdue and IU both had interest and never pulled the trigger. I’m guessing once he visited Miami O he loved the fit. I think it seems like a good fit.  IU hasn’t been in on many local kids the last several years outside of Brady Allen. For good reason.

The recruiting formula at IU has paid off the last few years.  ( Now that’s sarcasm )

Coming from the guy who shouts from the sidelines on this forum.  At least the other Memorial guys actually talk the subject.  You just pop in every once in a while and type 2 sentences of sarcastic garbage.

you’re probably the guy who has to one up everyone at the memorial tailgate

Yep that’s me and I promise it’s not sarcasm.

I haven’t even talked about GS that much

you guys just want to change the subject to that though because you cant even make an argument for anyone but yourselves lmao

but hey why are you complaining, 90% of the time this thread is just a circle jerk of Memorial dads talking the same stuff.  At least I’m willing to climb in the lions den and debate something.

Not charging subject. PAC football is not close to SIAC top to bottom. Bottom of siac better than bottom of pac and the top of siac better than top of pac.
it’s that simple. GS has yet to beat a good Memorial team head to head. They barely escaped two really bad teams and blew out a god awful team. Memorial came into your backyard and beat 3 good teams 3 years in a row.
The good news is the Titans are now in the worst sectional in the state and will win several sectionals after only 1 in the last several years.
